So, The Darkd Side of the Sword Coast is an unofficial expansion for BG? Like The Darkest Day? Is TDD compatible with TOB, yet?

TDD is compatible with TOB, but I'm not sure if it's a new versoin or a patch you can download.
DSOTSC is an addon for BG1 + TOTSC

As far as I can remember (it's been a long while since I've played either of them), neither DSOTC nor TDD never did... Which is annoying. One of these even killed (!) the entire journal alltogether, probably TDD, but then again, I've played that game in its initial - very buggy - phase. ;)

edit: could also have been Epic Endeavours with the "broken" journal, now that I think of it.

BUT, on-topic, Dark Side of the Sword Coast is very well done. Adds many new items, quests and characters (although you probably know that already). Very good for it's relatively small size.

Actually for some reason the journal doesn't seem to work in custom quests in BG2. I can't get it to work either, I've tried adding journal entries through dialogues and scripts but neither method seems to work so don't blame the MOD developers, they would add journal entries if they could. Of course it seems to work for some people but the same methods don't work for me I dunno why.
