Piestrider 12-31-2002 03:26 PM

I think most people see it as symbolic of a fresh start, a chance to clean the slate and do better than you've done before, or continue doing well and not fall into bad habits etc. Of course, resolutions are only useful if you actually carry through with them. Last year a radio station I listen to had a number of people call in and say what their resolutions were, then checked up on them at various intervals throughout the year. I think the most important thing with any goal is to be accountable for it and be able to follow up and make sure you've been doing it.

Anyway it's already 2003 here, so my resolutions are to worry less, have more faith in my convictions and abilities, and be less concerned with what other people think. I'll try anyway

Now that sounds cool. Are you getting the new look thing from an anime show?

Sir Exxon 12-31-2002 06:59 PM

New Year's resolutions aren't really a big tradition up here, so I don't make them. If I'd make some goals for 2003, however, it would have to be:
1. Spend more time at homework (even though my grades still are among the best in the class )
2. Start working out again
3. Reach 5000 posts :D (EDIT: speaking of this, I just reached 4200. Yay! :D )

In the words of the immortal Calvin(from Calvin and Hobbes):

I'm not making any New Year's Resolutions. I want everything to stay the same as this year! This year was lousy but at least it's familiar. I hate change! It's too disruptive! When things are different you have to think about the change and deal with it! I like things to stay the same, so I can take everything for granted! Besides, things keep changing for the worse! The longer I live, the more complicated everything gets! I say let's stop here before life gets any harder! From now on, no more change!
...
I'm bored, let's do something different.
