LOL, my wife, the beauteous Galadria, was involved in an argument with some no-taste person who was dissing Viconia in the BGII Forum, and I was requested and required to register and back her up. I did so, and here I've been ever since. ;)

AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe 12-28-2002 02:32 PM

Surfed in looking for BG2 help, and just kind of worked my way into other forums. This is a great place.

Paladin2000 12-28-2002 02:42 PM

I was surfing for game help forum for Wizardry 8 or something. In the beginning, I only post in the gaming forum but eventually...

There is no escape from IW!

My good freind RedBlueFlare showed me around and I found that this place was quite good for tayloring my skills ^_^ Before I came here I went to a horrid place called PSO-WORLD which was only based on one game and didn't promote general conversation...

^_^ Ironworks is the greatest place of all time!

I came to Ironworks when I sought a walkthrough for BG2. I came to the forums a little later, when I first needed help with BG2.

DJG 12-28-2002 05:18 PM

Well, I went on www.baldursgate.com trying to get the official site and found Ironworks on the Top Ten. I looked at all of the other sites above it and I was more interested in the Ironworks.

I then wanted to know how to fix a problem with my game, and not having it for very long, registered on here. It was very small when I registered. About 700 members. I posted about Shadowkeeper.

Then I got addicted! :D

I was *extremely* bored at college, and for lack of anything to do, I tpyed something about BG2 onto google. Iws came up - I saw the forum, looked at someones tactics; signed up, and never looked back since. Venntured into GD a couple of weeks after hanging around BG2 forums getting bored at the lack of posting ;)

Lavindathar 12-28-2002 06:22 PM

I was after BG1 help. I've used it for BG1, BG2 and IWD! I don't ask for help so often, just post answers.

I was member number 800 odd when I first arrived, it was about 2 years ago!

GokuZool 12-28-2002 06:50 PM

I was looking for BG2 help and came across the great IW BG2 forum through Google.

That was a long time ago ;)

I can't actually remember how I found IW... Anyway, I assume it was the same way as everyone else; I looked for BG2 help and found it by accident. I think there was maybe half the number of members there are now when I joined. Wow, this place grows fast doesn't it?

Davros 12-28-2002 06:58 PM

I came across it when I was looking for some feedback on what people thought of the Wizards and Warriors game. It had been released in the states, but not over gere yet. I lurked about, found that people were having heaps of fun with it, then bought it. I registered and joined IW after about a week of playing the game when I couldn't find the 4th monkey idol in the serpent temple ;)

Niadh 12-28-2002 06:59 PM

I heard about it on other boards and finally decied to join it after a bit.

Ladyzekke 12-28-2002 07:03 PM

In November 2000 I was playing BGII and trying to find tactics to kill Firkraag, searched in Yahoo for "baldurs gate 2 walkthroughs" and found this wonderful forum! Got tons of answers to my questions right off the bat too

NiceWorg 12-28-2002 07:06 PM

*thinks and thinks*

Can´t remember. It must have had something to do with google.

Bruce The Aussie 12-28-2002 07:09 PM

i was looking for BG2 stuff, i think stuff about the equilizer and found the main site. i liked it went to the forums, read it for a while and signed up. that was in the days of the good ol' blue board. i didn't visit the GD when i first signed up, mainly becuase there wasn't one . this was the first ever board i joined and its the best .

Downunda 12-28-2002 07:09 PM

I was bored so I typed "sexy toad" into google and IW was on page 987 about half way down. The rest is history.

Mouse 12-28-2002 07:18 PM

I came here by way of the now archived Darkstone section. In fact, I think my first post was there. Eventually I was made a moderator there, then as punishment for previous misdemeanours, I was given the task of helping to keep rest of you lot here on Gen Con in some semblance of order.

And that's the story so far :D

dark soul 12-28-2002 09:21 PM

i guess alot of do like google search engine.......well thats what i did.....and was kinda bored and just click on sites i thought that could have been useful...then i bumped into this....so far its the best site about bg2 that i have seen.....

kev 12-28-2002 09:21 PM

I needed help with W&W which is a buggy game. Xignals W&W site had a link to the excellent forum here & it has a solution to every bug in the game.

antryg 12-28-2002 09:36 PM

I first found IW during a hotbot search for BG2. I got the walkthroughs and left. Of course they worked great. A few months later I came back and looked at the posts in the BG2 forum. I got the info I wanted and disappeared again. This summer I decided to start playing BG2 again and decided to overcome my internet paranoia and joined IW. I've made some great friends and now IW has become part of my daily life. Even if I don't post I always peruse.

Lord Starshadow 12-28-2002 09:43 PM

I was also looking for BG2 help when I stumbled upon IW. I was looking through the walkthrough and such for about a week. Then one day I accidently clicked the forum link, and lo and behold, I was in the BG2 forum. I lurked as a guest for a couple of weeks before I finally joined. After a week in that forum, I ventured out into GD, and then to the Polls forum, and then to the RP forum. Now, I spend way too much time in the RP forum. Thanks for ruining my life IW! Its all Dagorion's fault...

The Ornery One 12-29-2002 12:20 AM

Over a year ago, I needed help with IWD (that my friend loaned to me) and he was busy with college papers so I did a search and Ironworks Gaming. I didn't notice the forum page at first, but a few months later I decided to check it out. I still didn't register for another couple of months, because I just had to thank the people that posted answers to other peoples questions that I needed to know the answers to.

arion windrider 12-29-2002 01:14 AM

i found ironworks by mistake too as most others... im glad it exists...such a cool place to hangout

macoati 12-29-2002 02:41 AM

I was desperate for some help with some technical problems re W&W and WinXP. Did a search on something and finally found the W&W forum where I was answered within an hour. I was up and running in an hour and a half. IW has been so helpful I pass it on to everyone I know who's looking for help with any game!

Sever 12-29-2002 03:27 AM

Ran a search for BG2 ToB walkthroughs and ended up at ironworks. A while later i needed a question answered and went to the forums. I remember thinking: "Stupid damn site. I don't wanna register. I just wanna know the answer to my question."

That was three months ago. IW is the first and only forum i've been involved with and my first taste of net culture. To think i used to tease my sister for chatting online. Tsk.

Callum Kerr 12-29-2002 03:46 AM

I was searching for Icewind Dale 2 forums - I thought that I would get better help on some problem or other than with a regular walkthrough site. I found a couple and signed up - they weren't all that good actually - but only while i was waiting to be accepted here.
At first I stayed exclusively in the IWD2 forum... but I was bored and decided to explore... Just my luck! The first thread I clicked on here was one where everyone just accuses everyone else of spamming... i left immediately and didn't come back for a while... not until five minutes later when I was bored again... :D

The rest, as they say, is history... even if it's only three months of history

HolyWarrior 12-30-2002 01:30 AM

The Wizardry 8 site had a link here. Then I also saw a link to the Might & Magic series--that got me hooked.

Luvian 12-30-2002 01:37 AM

I was looking for Infinity Engine game editors. TeamBg had just moved to TeamBG.com and I didn't know, so I made a search on yahoo and found this website, I tried the download links, but they where linked directly to team bg, and where not updated. So I went in the forum and asked what happened to teambg, and never came back to see if I got any replies.

About a year later, my favorite forums could not keep up to me, I was reading and posting too fast for the other users, so I started lurking here, and some time I started posting too.

I found Ironworks after talking to a friend at work about portraits for BG1 way back in 2000 and he told me about here but he did not have the url so I had to look for it. I have been here ever since.

Cloudbringer 12-30-2002 02:03 AM

About two years ago I was looking for help and a walkthrough for IWD and came to Ironworks. Not long after that I started posting in the BG2 forums of the old board and moved over here when this one started....I've been here ever since. Someone has to keep an eye on the Mouse and the Genie! ;) :D

Harkoliar 12-30-2002 02:25 AM

i was looking for tips/ clues for bg1 and bg2 when this forum appeared. i just lurked around till i finally posted a couple of months later. then i met memnoch, and i still remember the first time he placed his walking genie logo then .

Garnet FalconDance 12-30-2002 09:20 AM

Was looking for help/suggestions with Darkstone (the first crpg I ever played). Dearest Mouse was most helpful. Looked around, snuggled down into a corner to watch, every now and then spoke up.......

realbinky 12-30-2002 11:16 AM

Looks like kev and I got here the same way. Found Xignal's site on W&W and followed a link from there to here. Spent my first 9-10 months in that forum only, and occassionally peeking in at BGII. Either that, or we are all the most sensitive to the call of Choc....hmmmm.

Sir Krustin 12-31-2002 07:43 AM

I had ironworks bookmarked for walkthrough information on BG and BG2. I'd been coming to the hints and walkthrough sections for over a year before I ran into a frustrating problem that had me pulling my hair out, and I decided to peruse the forums.

Vaskez 12-31-2002 09:43 AM

There was a refurendum and 1900 out of the then 2000 members voted that they wanted me to join so they sent me the link. You should've seen my mailbox, it was more full than when my old hotmail account was full of porn.
Of course I couldn't refuse such a kind invitation so I came here to help everyone with their problems, gaming or otherwise.

Spade 12-31-2002 04:54 PM

I was looking for help with BG2. I wanted to find out what the "golden bones" were used for. Everyone was very helpful even though I realise now that I was probably the millionth person to ask the question. So I kept comig back even after I finished the game.
