I need some guys opinions on this. This (mostly) has to do with the removal of leg hair. First a little information you might rather go without. I got tired of shaving my legs, since it has to be done about every 2 or 3 days. So I switched to those lotions that disolve the hair down to the root. That only has to be done about every 10 days or so, and there isn't as bad a problem with stubble. Now the lotions don't seem to be working as well for me anymore. So now I'm trying waxing. The instructions say that the hair has to be at least 3/8 of an inch, it pulls the hair out completely, and redness is normal to last for a few hours. Also, if it the skin isn't pulled taut while yanking the wax off, there is risk of tearing your skin. But it lasts much longer (up to 6 weeks.) Now you guys tell me, do you think it's worth the trouble we girls go to, to have smooth legs?

Heartless Butterscotch 11-18-2002 12:29 AM

You'll have to post pics of your legs before I can respond.

Mack_Attack 11-18-2002 12:31 AM

Well I think it depends on if the hair stands out or blends in with your natural look. Also you need to do what makes you feel good. I like it hairless. But do not forget this is a guy talking. And with the crean not working it probaly has built up in your system and you are now immune. ;)

Please do not ask about the armpits.

LordKathen 11-18-2002 12:37 AM

I prefer shaved also, but I would'nt go through the pain of waxing if I where you. Sounds awfull, and every 6 weeks! I would'nt worry about it unless your an italian with gorilla legs.

GokuZool 11-18-2002 12:57 AM

If it's painfull why put yourself throught it?

If you can barely see the hair there is no point.

There are always those "Hair no more" sprays on those shopping channels

Smooth is good!

Sorcerer Alex 11-18-2002 01:34 AM

I also prefer smooth legs on a woman, but I don't think leg-shaving is such a big ordeal for you ladies. In the winter-time, you can get away with doing it about twice a week (just regular shaving with a razor). In the summer, you might want to do it three or four times a week. Even so, my girlfriend tells me it doesn't take more than about fifteen minutes. I spend ten minutes a day on my face, so I think it works out pretty much equal for men and women. So yes, it is worth the trouble. Very much so

Harkoliar 11-18-2002 02:29 AM

ever thought of laser surgery??

Angelousss 11-18-2002 03:13 AM

i much prefer shaved legs, hair just doesn't look good an girls.( Also i have female friends who hate not being shaven, not cause they worried about how they look but because they hate how their legs feel unshaven)

Problem with shaving is that it makes the hair coarser and more resistant - that's why I never did that.

DrakenKorin 11-18-2002 04:10 AM

....

No!

NO!

HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT?

That's why I haven't shaved in about 4 years. Used the lotions instead. My mom swears that after using the lotions for so many years, the hair completely quit coming back. Guess they don't make 'em like they used to.

Epona 11-18-2002 05:08 AM

I shave mine every few days, it's not such an ordeal.

I tried those creams and good god it was messy, I got the stuff everywhere! Took ages as well, by the time I'd smeared it all on, left it for 5 minutes and then washed it all off, only takes a few minutes with a razor. And I found I didn't stay hairless any longer than I did if I shaved, I guess I have strong hair!

Waxing, no no no, I've never done it but I'm allergic to pain and don't want to try.

Bokken 11-18-2002 06:47 AM

Well, we have to shave our faces every couple of days so it's not all that much better off. Personally I couldn't care less whether a girl shaved her legs or not but couldn't be with a hairy woman.

Lastly, you may want to try some paint stripper. It's guaranteed to work and most likely after the first try, you'll never have to worry about leg hair ever again!

I will not be held responsible for any ill effects the above method may cause. I believe strongly in my products and standby them 100%, but do not, repeat do NOT recommend the usage of them.

WillowIX 11-18-2002 06:58 AM

Iīm with Epona. I usually shave my legs, it isnīt that troublesome. It takes 5 mins in the shower. In summer times I wax them though. Hurts like hades! :( Has anyone tried a beauty parlour for waxing your legs? A friend told me it was a lot less painful...

Jeffi0 11-18-2002 07:40 AM

ROFL @ Bokken

I'd have to say that I agree with everyone else here. The waxing sounds painful, but if it works for 6 weeks, then that would work, I guess. You should ask other girls though, cause we don't know what we're talking about. ;)

John D Harris 11-18-2002 09:09 AM

Nothing beats smooth legs that go up and make a perfect A$$ out of themselves, a round female hip, the supple curve of the lower back, a neck made for nibbling, firm...Ah... where were we? Oh yeah, hairy legs well what ever floats your boat. :D

Actually, that is a fallacy, (or perhaps a canard )
Hair is dead, and the body has no way of sensing its presence or absence. Ifeels coarser when it grows back in because it is shorter, and thus less vulnerable to torque. For the record, Galadria is very blonde and still shaves thrice a week.

/)eathKiller 11-18-2002 10:24 AM

well i say if some women prefer men who've had skin removed from a paricular limb and the nerve endings weakened, then i think it even-steven if some men should prefer women having simply yanked out their follicles every 2 months...

Bruce The Aussie 11-18-2002 10:26 AM

i prefer shaved legs myself. they just look, and feel nicer.

also, not all guys shave. some have beards or, like me, stubble. i never shave. (well, maybe every few months)

Sever 11-18-2002 10:44 AM

Warning! tasteless, offensive comment below...

Num, num.

Grrr..

Grrrooowwwlll...

You're not likely to get none of that with sideburns on your inner thighs.

Which do you prefer? The convenience of low maintenance legs, or "you know what".

purre 11-18-2002 10:51 AM

Well, you asked for a guys opinion, but are getting a girls opinion
I think that shawing is the best way.It must be done quite often but I`ll rather do that, than use just-put-wax-on-and-rip-your-hair-off products! Ouch!! Too painful!
And in my case, all my har is RED, so it looks totally ridicilous having red haired legs.

Keraptisdm 11-18-2002 10:53 AM

Yes, it is worth it. At least for me. I don't know if if is worth waxing vs shaving for you, but smooth legs on my favorite wife are nice. Just like she likes a smooth face on me. :D
That's how I understood it Attalus. Also when it grows back after shaving it looks thicker because the ends are blunt instead of tapered, especially noticeable if you have dark hair.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! INSENSATIVE MALE COMMENTARY!!!!
Sorry, but they really are nicer if they are shaved, waxed or delaped. And BTW Arm pits... they are a must!!! I remember seeing pictures of Madonna in Playboy some years back. She hadn't shaved her armpits. I haven't ever looked at her in quite the same way since!!! UGH!!!

I donīt see why that would be a insensitive male comment? I mean Ornery DID ask for it. Does anyone know why we women shave our legs BTW? When did this begin? I have no clue. It would be interesting to know though. Itīs probably as silly as why womenīs shirts are buttoned up on the wrong side :D

Smooth legs is nice i dont like hair on womans legs so shaving them are the best i think! :D

Timber Loftis 11-18-2002 01:31 PM

As time goes on, women are expected to be less and less furry. Smooth legs and even an exquisitely-maintained bikini area are expected norms of many males I know.

Male latent pedophilia, paedamorphosis, call it what you will - no hair is considered the beauty model for women. I have seen absolutely gorgeous unshaven women, but knew they would look even better shaven.

As for the laser thing - the way I understand it, because the laser beam is run across your skin and heats up to burn folicles, it works best on those with light skin and dark hair. Otherwise, there is a chance of burning. Just so's ya know. ;)

How can you have a stubble after not shaving for a few months? Isn't your facial hair down to the floor?

Timber Loftis 11-18-2002 02:17 PM

Well, it pretty well quits growing (or, should say slows down a lot). Plus, trimming with scissors or clippers is not "shaving."

Kaltia 11-18-2002 02:18 PM

I waxed my legs once. The thought S*D IT! If I EVER HAVE to wear a dress and no tights again *then* I'll wax but not before! It *hurT*!
Maybe when I'm loaded I'll have t done with electrolosis

Yeah, it was a figure of speech. My point is, that after a few months, you're going to have just a little more than your average 'bumfluff'

Its obiously for vanity reasons. Its not like its a health thing. Probly some shovanistic husbands that told there wifes to shave way back in the early days of britian.
My wife shaves, but I would not make her or even care if she didnt.
