Good choice I to enjoy the odd legoles flick

The Lilarcor 11-09-2002 06:52 PM

Yes, my only worry is that The Return of the King might be R because of all the violence...

Lord of Alcohol 11-09-2002 07:01 PM

Greatest movie ever is Over the Top starring Syvester Stylonne. He was robbed of an Oscar for that performance :(

johnny 11-09-2002 07:52 PM

Braveheart.

Animal 11-09-2002 08:04 PM

The Godfather.

Sylvester Stallone? C'mon, Sylvester the Cat is a better actor than that guy!

Sio 11-09-2002 08:09 PM

Man thats too easy!
It is easily 'The Shining'!! Jack Nicholson is amazing in this film, as is the entire cast. Sure its not overly scary, but its not meant to be a horror, as I see it it's a delve into humanity.
Also has the greatest line in a film ever, but you gotta watch both Jack Nicholsons face and the waiters when this line is said to get the full beauty of it :D

"Err..Mister Gradey, you WERE the caretaker here, I saw your picture in the paper, you killed your wife and kids and hacked them into little pieces..then you blew your brains out."

Gabriel 11-09-2002 08:19 PM

Two words Blues Brothers followed closly by Blues Brothers 2000.

Rambo and Rocky, but then who hasn't seen those, a bit of Cliffhanger and a couple of others that I can't remember the names for, so I shouldn't judge (dredd) much.

Lord of Alcohol 11-09-2002 08:30 PM

Ummm you guys dont really belive me about his acting/movies do you? LOL Except for a few early ones they SUCK LOL

Ok to name a few of my favorite-FoTR, Manchurian Candidate, Holy Grail, Apocolypse Now. Better? :D

antryg 11-09-2002 08:33 PM

I've actually seen most of Sly's movies and can emphatically say that when I saw them I paid to much. That's pretty bad because I saw all of them for free.
Every once in a while he made a mistake and made a good movie but winners like Tango and Cash weren't them.
I vote for Princess Bride followed by The Crow and Blade Runner.

Geeze I paid once to rent Daylight. But in my defense I was really bored and there wasnt much new out :(

I like the Princess Bride! It is greatly entertaining!

Lord Starshadow 11-09-2002 11:48 PM

Best movie ever? Why it could only be.... Spaceballs!

Lady Blue03 11-09-2002 11:59 PM

Hell-o, in 1.5 years, the best movie will be all 3 of the LotR movies put together, nur! :D

Earthdog 11-10-2002 01:14 AM

And I also vote for The Princess Bride, too, as well. Airplane gets my second vote and my third vote goes to Cannibal: the Musical. It's got singin, dancin, fightin, Indians bein played by samuraii toting Japanese exchange students, and of course.... cannibalising :D

Charean 11-10-2002 11:23 AM

You all are amusing.

Obviously the greatest movies are anything by Alfred Hitchcock.

nuff said. :D

Attalus 11-10-2002 11:33 AM

Best movie of all time? Casablanca Yes, I know it's in black and white, and yes, I know that when you watch it it's like a list of Moviedom's greatest Quotes of all time, but it still has the best ending, ever. Runner-up? Vertigo. Alfred Hitchcock was certainly the Greatest Director of all time.

Sigmar 11-10-2002 11:34 AM

In my opinion, Transformers-The movie

Yes I am serious.

My other favourite is Blade Runner.

The second is a travesty of a movie IMO...

Are you all mad???

Logan's Run!

The Hunter of Jahanna 11-10-2002 11:40 AM

THe best move ever is Shakes the Clown. It is about an alcoholic clown who doesnt take crap from anyone. My favorite line in the movie is when Shakes tells a kid at a B-day party that he will "Twist his head into a balloon animal if he doesnt quit his whineing". It stars Bob Golthwait as Shakes and is hideously funny.

MagiK 11-10-2002 11:53 AM

Patton (with George C. Scott) followed by Battle of the Bulge with too many stars to name

I hope your kidding like I was about Sylvester Stalonne movies :D

I think trying to say what the best film is, is rather like saying:

What’s better- Car Ferries or Rough collies?

It Just doesn’t’ work. There are good Action films,
There are good Deep and meaningful Films, etc and in the end it’s a subjective thing anyway.

I will say though, That “A Boy and his Dog” is the best film ever :op

Would that be a bitter memory from your childhood?

It’s set in a post apocalyptic err.. Setting right?
And this bloke is travelling around with his psychic dog (a Bearded collie IIRC) and after some adventures he has the choice of leaving his dog and carrying on his travels with a beautiful women,
but they are all very hungry so what does he do?

... Eat The woman of course!

Sio 11-10-2002 12:10 PM

I just remembered that Fear and Loathing in LasVegas should also get a mention as one of the best films ever in my opinion, as should Pink Floyds 'The Wall' which gets a mention for been as tripped out as it is :D
OOO OOO and Jet Li's Fist Of Legend as well! Got my favourite fight scene ever (the one between Jet Li and his friend who thinks he's trying to take over the dojo)
Has anyone else seen this? If you havent you should

Downunda 11-10-2002 02:02 PM

I'd have to give American Beauty a mention but all time fav would be Pulp Fiction.

Steve Fox 11-10-2002 02:04 PM

LoA, I have always thought that Jimmy Cagney did that because Pat O'Brien sorta asked him to, since the Dead End Kids would be disappoited and not look to him as a role model. ;)

Still a shame he went out yellow when he really wasnt. Think of how many street punks he could have inspired! :D

Great movie Miss Willow! The way Jack changes from putting the dog down the garbage chute to taking him for walks was a great tale. And his attitude towards Greg Kinear ;) Helen Hunt sealed the deal and made it a very good movie.
