Calaethis Dragonsbane 11-05-2002 08:39 AM

*grin* good so we have a deal then ;) heheh. Unfortuantly, I dont plan to die for quite a while yet, and even if I did, I get the feeling my girl might just drag me back to the land of the living...

Epona 11-05-2002 09:23 AM

Ooooh no no no Swedish no!

I do not feel like that at all, I enjoy every minute of life, I believe we only get one shot at it and I'm going to make the best of it and enjoy myself.

Basically I'm a bit of an ethical hedonist (the view that our fundamental moral obligation is to maximise pleasure and happiness and minimise pain, especially that concerned with worrying about death, as espoused by the Greek philosopher Epicurus).

I live every day as if it were going to be my last, while hoping I have many more to come since I'm also an eternal optimist! I don't put off stuff I want to do, I strive to get maximum pleasure out of any situation, view the best in everything, and even if something goes wrong and is unpleasant I view it as a lesson learned and hence a valuable experience.

Indemaijinj 11-05-2002 10:37 AM

No, that's why we have to live it. ;)

johnny 11-05-2002 10:41 AM

For as long as there is beer... yes, it's worth living. :D

Memnoch 11-05-2002 10:44 AM

Steve...it's pretty poor form, and against the rules here, to post a thread under one logon and answer it using other ones (Daniel Doolan, Gromnir). You, Daniel Doolan AND Gromnir have exactly the same IP address which means either a) you are all the same person; or b) you are sharing the same computer.

If you're taking the piss, consider it no harm done, but you can't have multiple logons here. After all, DJG personally requested your logon be approved, and we trust him. Choose a logon name and stick to it, please - otherwise we'll choose one for you. Email me when you've chosen what you want to be known as.

To quote "Slaughterhouse 5" by Kurt Vonneggut:

"Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt."

It's a book that will change the way you look at life, life isn't a process, or an event, its a place. Time is just another dimension, there is nothing to "happen" and nothing has already "happened". Things just are. It makes you think, honestly...

Well said Epona.

Azred 11-05-2002 07:02 PM

Hi all, Belle speaking here. I didn't feel like logging Azred out and me in so I am posting under his name. As for the topic at hand, hmm.. I could say no, the bills, housework, troubles that life brings, stresses that we go through. But, seems there is always a but, lol. I am driving home from work last night and I always catch the tail end of Deliliah on a soft rock station around here. Kind of a dedication radio show, really cool to listen to. So, I am kind of thinking about bills and it seemed like she read my mind. Stressed out and thinking about bailing out of life and all of the things that come along with it? Then she said that she was pround that we hadn't bailed out and that we were still kicking along with life. So, the bottom line is that when I wake up beside Azred in the morning, when my son has a good day at school and finishes his class work, when my dog and cat are playing around the house, when I get to spend time with Azred and son, all these wonderful little things make life worth living. On to death, I obviously haven't died yet, lol, but when I do, I imagine it will be like that issue of the twilight zone when I am in a room with people I know and I can tell them what I have learned through and from the people I know. And also in the second life when I die, maybe I won't have to count my weight watchers points in order to lose a few pounds, lol.
So, this is Belle's opinion, be it as it may. Peace out and have a good night everyone.

OK, fair enough. Schools usually have an IP subnet allocated to them, using a number of IPs, but I'll trust you and take your word for it.

Just don't do anything to break that trust. Welcome, and enjoy. ;)

to be perfectly honest i find that to be a daft question, though not in a debate sense

if you want to live, live.

if not, die (and no, i am not suggesting people start committing suicide)

simple huh?

Gromnir 11-06-2002 08:08 AM

On a related topic, Any suggestions on the meaning of life???

I am surprised how many Arsenal fans there are outside France.

On topic: Every second of life hurts, the last one kills.
I love my parents but I never forgave them that they gave me birth. Each night before sleep I hope that I will not wake up. How is that for cheery thoughts :D

</font>
Jep, I had one. But it was snatched along with my towel, while I was taking a swim. I found only a card reading: 'Goodbye, and thanks for the fish.'

The meaning of life is to question it for so long that you die without doing ANYTHING worthwhile. :D

Man, hate to tell you ... it might come as a shock ... but it seems to me you had a dolphin in your ear
Btw, it's snowing rather persistently on the "sunny" side of alps today.
