I haven't dressed up in a costume in years but I've been invited to a costume party. My best friend lives in the San Fernando Valley just north of Los Angeles calif. He works for the costume department at one of the major Movie studios and he is shipping me a movie quality Werewolf costume like the ones used in an American Werewolf in London. This is a once in a life time chance to scare my stupid neighbor with his dumb frankenstine he pute on every year and tries to scare all the little kids that come to his house.I'm going to sneek up behind him and then watch Frankenstine PEE his pants, then I'm going to a party any body else dressing up this holloween and as what?

I've got a cool Wizard costume that I wear to answer the door. I don't know yet what Galadria is going as this year. Last year, she dressed as Imoen.

SomeGuy 10-26-2002 11:47 AM

I would dress up as Link from The Legend of Zelda but I can find a costume like his. So I'm going as a ghost.

Rikard_OHF 10-26-2002 11:49 AM

Go as Pinguin

Nanobyte 10-26-2002 11:55 AM

Because the juniors did not get a float in the parade last Thursday, they want us all to dress up this upcoming Thursday. I'm gonna dress up as my boss :D

Don't celebrate Halloween anymore ever since some crazed woman told my mother it was satan worshipping day... I forgot what it *really* is but I know it isn't that. I'm off to college soon, so how's she supposed to know? I'd dress up as Link too if I could! (The tunic would be kinda hard to find don't you think?) Hat no problem...

Xtrea 10-26-2002 12:27 PM

A tunic isn't that hard to get just find a green shirt cut slits in the sides and chop off the sleeves. Put a belt around the middle and bingo instant tunic.

originally it was a pagan holiday to celebrate the dead i think. then it was taken as a Chistian holiday, then it was commertialised. i think thats right .

Halloween is the night of october 31st ,the EVE of all Saints Day. In the late 18th century it was shortened to all Hallow EVE then in the 19th century changed to Halloween. It is NOT a celebration of the Devil. The purpose of the scary masks was to scare away all the evil spirits in celebration to the saints that helped to bring in the seasons Harvest.

Downunda 10-26-2002 03:09 PM

My dad dressed as a werewolf for a christmas dress up last year and it was such a good costume that his co-workers didn't know who he was

It is also known as Saihian (pronounced sowen) amongst pagans and witches. Refered to my some as the as the day of the dead, because it is believed the veil between the physical and spiritual world is "thinnest on this day", so it is a good time to get to know those ancesteral spirits. Also Celebrated as the last harvest festival as well as the old Celtic new year.

And yes it has little to do with "satanism".

Oh, yeah, I wont be in costume or anything, as I celebrate this day as Saihain, not halloween, but much power and fun to those that do.

Oh it's okay, i hardly ever dress up anyway. We can have a nice cuddle and watch Sleepy Hollow or something :D

Calaethis Dragonsbane 10-26-2002 04:36 PM

hmpt. To be honest dear, horror movies dont appeal to me ;P they either do two things; I laugh at the erm... stupid girls who are standing there waiting for death, or if they're daemonic, they tend to freak me out. No, I'm no good with horror movies.. lol, last time I was in the cinama watching one, everyone kept getting annoyed at me... I had to bite my arm to stop laughing... no, it'd be more fun to hunt undead on NWNs or BG or something ;) still, if you WANT to cuddle me, feel free ;) but ONLY you kat. ;)

Kaltia 10-26-2002 04:37 PM

Hmm, I remember: Evil dead 2 (giggle) the Mummy Returns (laughs into Colins shoulder for a while)

Calaethis Dragonsbane 10-26-2002 04:40 PM

RevRuby 10-26-2002 09:28 PM

as much as i would like to join you chewbacca in celebrating Saihain, i love dessing up as a witch. my fave thing int he whole world, i ahve beena witch for four years, er well exceot the one i had broke foot, then i wandered the neighborhood with ymm daughter as a militant lesbian. i wore long shorts, combat boots and lilith fair t-shirt! but i think i will stick with a witch, the one time of the year i can wear all black, white face paint and black lipstick and not look like a bad mommy lol....anyway, ahppy halloween, all hallows eve, Saihain.

The Ornery One 10-26-2002 09:46 PM

I don't really have anywhere to wear my costume, but I'm going to at least wear it to answer the door for trick-or-treaters and to take my son door to door. It's one I designed and am making myself. And for something to give you nightmares, I'll have pictures taken (before and after) to send to Stealthy's. *Plugs ears from the screams of NOOOOO*

And here's a Samhain recipe
2 quarts apple cider
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1/2 cup apricot brandy
In a large pot, combine the apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and suger. Simmer slowly on low heat for about 15 minutes-do not boil. Add the brandy and serve warm.

antryg 10-26-2002 09:57 PM

I always dress up for Halloween. It's just all the other days of the year that I don't wear anything. Now you know why my neighbors celebrate Halloween.
