I am now at chapter six, and thinking about to kick out Nalia (i hate her) from the team. Who will be a good replacement???

My team now:
Me
Minsc
Jaheria
Imoen
Arie
Nalia

Helspanth 06-12-2002 08:57 PM

It would be helpfull if you told us what class is your PC!

Nails 06-12-2002 09:08 PM

Oh sorry... Fighter, Chaotik Good

Helspanth 06-12-2002 09:13 PM

Well you have the basic 4 classes covered.
It is a matter of what game you like to play.
I play with mages and so I would kepp Nalia.
If you want to drop her then perhaps Mazzy would be a nice addition.
She is a killer with the short bow plus she can tank if needed.
Another interesting option is HaerDalis.Backup mage and backup fighter who can be deadly if used correctly.

When I look at your party and I like the idea of having two mages. As it is you have 3 spellcasters. If you get rid of Nalia I'd go with another Tank like Keldorn or has been suggested Mazzy.

Hecate 06-13-2002 10:55 AM

I would suggest Jan Jansen the gnome because he can wield a short sword, fire his flasher, and cast mage spells. I don't see a thief in your party and his lock picking skills will come in useful. While a cleric can detect traps I don't think they can "untrap" them.

Another good reason to kick out Nalia is her constant whining about the poor. It gets boring, especially since you have Aerie in your party and she whines about her lost wings.

Nails, you have NO idea what your topic title made me think of! I had a picture of Nalia De'Arnise standing with her back turned and a note on it that said "Kick me HARD" and the Bhaalspawn character taking a running kick at her arse with combat boots on...ROTFLMAO!!

Ahem...ok, back on topic. If you're in chap 6, and you REAAALY want to get Nalia out of the group, I'd go with Keldorn so you can use Carsomyr; otherwise it's wasted. He's one of the better players, too, if you get him the Gauntlets of Dexterity.

Since Imoen is in the group, you don't need another thief...she can do all the lockpicking and trap disarming you need throughout the rest of the game and on into ToB if you so desire.

This is very unlike me, but I suggest Anomen. He knows Priest-spells, which you are a bit short at, plus that he's a good warrior.
That way, your party would be:

Fighter -->Tank
Anomen -->Tank, good clerical spells
Aerie -->Magic-support
Imoen -->Rogue, mage-spells
Minsc -->Tank, a very few number of mage-spells
Jaheira -->Could be used as a tank, druid-spells

Sounds good.

Suzaku 06-13-2002 11:31 AM

First bit of Anomen support seen in a loooooooooooonnnnng time...

Helspanth 06-13-2002 11:40 AM

Then you must be missing all of my posts Suzaku! :D
I am an avid supporter of Anomen!
@Sir Exxon
Good points.One slight mistake!Minsc has a small number of priest spells not wizard!(God forbid!!!!!!)

Uhm Imoen is a thief.

And Jan is a horrible choice. Go with either Mazzy, Keldorn or Viconia.

Death to Sea Anemone!!

Uhhh.......say what????

Do you know anyone else who can get 100% in all Thieving skills? Get Quintuple Backstabs with the Staff of the Magi? Combine the Amulet of the Master Harper with Montolio's Cloak? Set 30 Traps in one day? Augment his skills with his nice Thieving items, until he doesn't need them anymore? Entertain the party and piss off Anomen with a single story? Combine Assassination with Time Stop?

.....no, I didn't think so.

Mazzy and Keldorn would be good choices, Viconia would not be--what would you need another Cleric for? Half a Cleric and half a Druid is plenty. Nope, take Jan, so he and Aerie can help set the bad guys up for the killing blow supplied by Imoen.

Oh my GOD!! I'd type all the stuff SixOfSpades showed to you but he already told you. I wanted to express my disaproval of Tanoch's statement. I Always have Jan in my party unless soloing. He's the best thief in my opinion because he can still gain thieving skills and, unlike Yoshimo, he doesnt work for Irenicus. I have never seen a trap he cant detect or a lock he cant find. My biggest mistake my first time through was taking back Imoen in replace of Jan. She could pick about half the locks. Then i would have to walk over there and bash the lock with my Paladin's hands. i could force locks better than she could pick them. Jan rules.

Tiresius 06-14-2002 08:53 AM

Oh...i got on a rampage there. Sorry.

About Nalia. I recomend Jan in place of Imoen and keep Nalia. I personally liked Nalia for the sole reason of my signature.

"He is a bastard. And saying that is insult to bastards everywhere"

I dont remember when she said that but from then on i tolerated with her helping the poor.
