The Cardinals are going to win the World Series! :D
It would be nice if the Twins beat the Angels for a 1987 rematch.

johnny 10-09-2002 05:24 AM

Well, i'm a Yankees fan, but their playoff hopes are over, and i must say the Cardinals are looking good this year.

SpongeBobTheDestoyer 10-09-2002 05:28 AM

Hey Johnny, aren't you glad we beat up on the Diamondbacks for you.

I'd rather saw a rematch between them, but hey.... you can't win em all. :D I must say that my expectations were high this year with Giambi added to their roster. But they couldn't even beat the Friggin Angels. Major bummer.

Keraptisdm 10-09-2002 08:37 AM

My team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, have already been elimnated for next year's playoffs. I got to see the Cardinals in Pittsburgh this season, and that team is good. There is no weak spot anywhere in the batting order. Plus they have the best manager in baseball in Tony LaRussa. I want to see the Cardinals and the Twins in that World Series rematch.

AngelofDeath 10-09-2002 09:44 AM

all you yankee fans out there, you guys know that Ventura and Giambi were counting on those rings......no dice

I really shouldn't talk tho, my team was not that good. last place all to our selves..... among other problems and stupid enough to have pictures surface!!!

But as long as the Yankees got beat all is well

Hey... they will be back next year, you can count on that. :D

YAY! I agree on both counts. I thought the departure of Big Mac would hurt the Cards more than they thought, but we've ended up with a high-contact, balanced lineup. Too bad about Rolen, though :(

Go Cards!

Angelousss 10-09-2002 01:25 PM

twins are gonna win so they can say to selig "contract this"

Timber Loftis 10-09-2002 01:51 PM

*sigh* Try living in Cubs-land. Baseball season is always soooooooooo disappointing. I was a happier fan in Syracuse last year.

Bummer. The UK baseball presenter actually forecast the Cubbies to win their division.

Still, at least you have Sammy to put a smile on your faces One homer away from 50 - bummski!

The Giants seem to have other plans. :D

Stinking Giants! I went to the game back in the late eighties/early nineties when Will Clark slid into second and tried to take out Ozzie. No harm just a good hard play. Well our second baseman at the time, Jose Oquendo(I've got another story about him I'll tell another time), gave "the thrill" a little smack in the head and that's when the fireworks erupted. A real brawl with Whitey and R. Craig and everything. Not like the talk at home plate they had last night after the Kenny Lofton thing(which I think was uncalled for). Anyway I hope the skirmish fires up the Cards and we go on to win, or at least make it a good series.

There is one difference, I see. The Cubs alway suck, it's a given( no offense).....We (The Mets)Just spent a lot of money to improve.....and ended up in last place. That hurts worse....

The crappiest team in baseball has one of the best fields and some of the most loyal fans. Go fig! But Wrigley is a wonderful venue. :D

I'm starting to think the Cardinals fans here pushed this thread to the second page on purpose. :D
I wouldn't worry too much. Being down 2-0 in a series doesn't mean a thing. The Yanks have proven that more than once.

Bardan the Slayer 10-11-2002 04:52 PM

we're just lulling them into a false sense of security ;)

LennonCook 10-12-2002 04:28 AM

Baseball ?? Isn`t that the theme of alot of realy bad movies ?? :D

johnny 10-12-2002 11:11 AM

I think the bookmakers are having a ball. The Yanks and D Backs out in round 1, the Cards down 2-0, the Twins down 2-1. This is getting crazier every day. :D

I love the Cubs, next to my beloved Bosox.

LIONESS !!!!! you're back !!!! how are you ? Everything going well ? And i forgive you that Yankees remark... for once. :D

SpongeBobTheDestoyer 10-13-2002 01:11 PM

There is still hope for my beloved Cards. One game at a time. It looks like the Twins' chances are slim and none. But who knows.

True, homecourt advantage seems no factor in this series.

The Angels in the Worldseries. How about that ???? The Cards are almost out of their misery.
Thanks Bardan, but alas the Giants proved to be the better team. The Cardinals bats stunk. Something like 3 for 34 with runners in scoring position. I'm looking forward to next year though. Healthy Rolen all year :D . Congrats to the Giants and their fans, they played some great clutch baseball. Maybe Bonds will get his World Series ring to justify his status as the best baseball player ever, arguably.

Bardan the Slayer 10-16-2002 12:46 AM

I hope not. I can't stand the arrogant nerk. I was devestated when he broke Big Mac's record :(

johnny 10-21-2002 11:36 AM

You can say whatever you want about the Giants or the Angels, but they sure know how to amuse the crowd. Yesterday was one of the most exiting matches i've ever seen. It almost makes me forget about the Yankees. :D

Hey Johnny I missed the game. Sort of, I was at a concert and it was on but I couldn't really hear or see it. It looked like the Angels won. Is that right? And if you have time explain what you meant about amusing the croud. Fill me in. Thanks.

First inning:5-0 Angels, second inning:5-4 Angels. Later in the game when the Giants had a 9-7 lead the Angels brought in a young pitcher from Venezuala, Francisco Rodriguez, and he turned the tides. One strike out after another. Salmon hit 4 out of 4, two of which were homers. I mean, watching good pitchers is great, but watching bad pitchers can be spectacular too. :D Especially when there's guys like Bonds and salmon around. It was a homerunfestival. I had to stay up until 5:30 AM, but it was worth it every minute.

SpongeBobTheDestoyer 10-21-2002 02:28 PM

Staying up til 5:30 in the morning. That's dedication. Or lack of a VCR. ;)

Both :D My VCR is broken (for quite some time now, but it's not a priority). I just don't want to wait until the next day for the highlights of the game, cause i know i can't control myself and will check out the final score on the internet.

SpongeBobTheDestoyer 10-23-2002 05:53 AM

I wonder why the Cardinals couldn't beat up on the Giants pitchers like the Angels are. I thought we got their best player in Jim Edmonds but it looks like all these guys are tough.
Did a certain someone pull another all nighter? Johnny?

No, not this time, i had to get up real early this morning, so i'll have to settle with the highlights tonight. I guess i missed a good match, i won't let that happen again. :D
