Cute? May I recommend a trip to your local optician, K T? I think that's pretty much the ugliest thing I've seen in a while. It's even put me off my Oreos. It's just made history

Megabot 09-28-2002 05:32 AM

I think it is wery nasty and do it have 4 eyes?

K T Ong 09-28-2002 05:57 AM

The thing's actually supposed to be no larger than a pencil eraser. So no worries, it won't bite. It likes to jump, though. :D

jabidas 09-28-2002 07:36 PM

Is this a Docter Evil and sharks with lasers beams strapped to thier heads kind of thing? If so i completley understand people are always complaining about my undead. If its not ''they smell'' or '' I dont like the way the they stare at me'' its bound to be ''help they are eating my family oh god its chewing my leg aghhhhhhhhhhh''. People are so damn inconsiderate. I bet when you let it go round to your neighbours house for a little visit, just to introduce itself they completley freaked out.Philistines. By the way have you trained it to kill yet? I could use a good assassin.

Well not exactly, i think that the spider is quite cute. Lets just say that before understanding the complex creatures that spiders are, very few can really appreciate them.

ROFLMAO... Those commercials are absolutely hilarious! HILARIOUS I tell you. Must be the worst movie ever.

Dagorion 09-28-2002 10:23 PM

Hmm... I squashed a spider that looked like that the other day... although it was about the size of a whole pencil... ok so it was a small pencil... like the ones you get with those little notepads... that are about 2 inches long... and have BIG POINTY FANGS!!!! Ill go now...

The Ornery One 09-28-2002 10:26 PM

*sniffle* I miss Rosalynd! Prettiest little rosebud tarantula you ever would've seen.
And yes it is very cute, K T Ong. Jumping spiders are some of the cutest!

Eeeee! So CUTE! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/lol2.gif

I have always been a fan of spiders and have handled them on several occasions. It always perplexes and saddens me when I find people who are absolutely terrified of them. :(

I have been to Australia, and I stayed there for a month. I had a great time at my Aunt's log cabin, feeding the Kookaburras and watching the Yellow-Crested Parrots flock together. Not to mention the encounters with wild Koala Bears, countless Kangaroos, Wombats, etc... ...

And I must have squealed like a little girl inside when I saw the Fairy Penguins.

I love the Australian wildlife, and am fascinated with the Funnelweb Spider, Blue-Ringed Octopus and the Box Jellyfish. I have heard of the rest, but I am not familiar with them.

My only regrets was not being able to see a wild Tasmanian Devil or the Plataypus( saw them in the zoo though).

edin gal 09-29-2002 12:48 PM

Rather creepy little beastie I think, it has big eyes like my neighbours son!!!!!!

Koala Bears ?? What are Koala Bears ?? :D
Koalas are marsupials ;)

Infact, most of our wildlife is marsupial.

Lessee...
Kanagroos, Wombats, Koalas, Echidnas, Platypi, I *think* Tasmanian Devils, and alot more I can`t remember

Bit of Aussie trivia, though: the national emblem has a Kangaroo and an Emu, not only are they native, but they can`t walk backwards.

Grimslade 09-30-2002 08:23 AM

Well, in truth, the spider does look kinda cute, after you get over the initial shock. I've seen much uglier spiders. I think they are fascinating creatures, but the scare the crap out of me.

I never knew Kangas and Emus can't walk backwards.

K T Ong 09-30-2002 08:49 AM

The reason why I thought the spider was cute was that rather wistful expression on the face plus the large, beady eyes... As if he's waiting for his mother or something.

And I believe I said it's no larger than a pencil ERASER -- as opposed to a pencil.

In my house over the last few years we've had LOTS of odd pets...

Currently there are 58 non-human critters in the house (one of our kids did a report and actually counted them all). Most are fish... but there's also 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rats (cute and very affectionate), 2 Oregon Newts, A crab the boys found two years ago in the brook (living happily on ground beef... although he's turned BLUE), we recently let go the frog we raised from a tadpole (had him for over a year). In the not too distant past we've also had a Python, an Iguana, and a couple Finches (which our Siamese rather enjoyed... with a nice Chianti I think... bad kitty!)

So yea I think the spider is cute... and if he was found around our house no doubt he'd be #59 and my wife would be blowing wads of cash getting a "Spider house" and "spider food" and taking him to the vet's for a checkup, and finding out if anyone makes "spider toys", etc...
