whats a popup killer???

Hexa 09-21-2002 06:11 AM

a Popup killer ... Kills a Pop Up LOL
Well it will prevent those pop up windows of advertisement to load ..
Some programs let them load but only in the background.

At ZdNet u can find what u want. Keygenerators or cracks u wil have to find yourself!@

Hexa 09-21-2002 06:12 AM

Mind you!@
Some sites will not work properly if u don't let the popups remain "popping"

LennonCook 09-21-2002 06:28 AM

<font color="lightblue">All of these either don`t work, or come up as spyware :(

And I hate Opera browser Doesn`t display things properly for me... </font>

Neb 09-21-2002 06:31 AM

If Opera doesn't work properly then it's because there's a problem with the site, not the browser

<font color="lightblue">It happens at every site I go to when I use it:
Tables don`t display properly, images time out, refreshing doesn`t renew my mailbox...

My computer must be allergic to it :( </font>

<font color="lightblue">
Spyware is programs that send information about your computer to other places without your permission. Gator and Commet Cursor are two common examples; as are most peer to peer file sharing utilities.

Spyware is responsible for ALOT of things; mainly your being added to infinite mailing lists. And it can come with anything you download; especially freeware: the companies collect your information, and sell it: freeware is very rarely completely free :(

I use ad-aware to pick it up, and get rid of it: I changed from hotmail for a reason; and I don`t want to have to change again.

Where do you get ad-aware?

Dundee Slaytern 09-21-2002 08:06 AM

I use Panicware. Just remember to hold down the Ctrl key when you need to see Java Popup Windows.

It works properly, and adaware doesn`t think it`s spyware
Only problem is going to be looking at popup sites on computers that don`t have popup killers :D </font>

The most effective (and free) popup killer is the "disable javascript" checkbox in your browser.

Like someone else said, if Opera doesn't work right it's the site, not the browser.

A lot of Microsoft HTML generation tools generate "broken" HTML, if a browser sticks right tight to the standards (which or course, Micro$haft ignores at will) it will likely have problems with a great many sites which rely on Micro$haft tools.

Call me mad if you will, but did you not all sign up to the adware aspect of these programmes at the point of installation?

Talking for myself, if it saves me some cash, and gives me access to a nice download manager prog for no outlay, then I've gone into the transaction with my eyes open. Read the EULA every time you install :D

<font color="lightblue">One thing: this is EVERY SITE I go to:
Ironworks, Pandemonium, The Silver River, Yahoo, Google, Geocities, Internet Express, MSN...

NONE of them display properly for me in Opera, most work perfectly in NETSCAPE. So, I doubt it`s anything but my computer not liking me using Opera. </font>

<font color="lightblue">None of the documentation for anything that I installed mentioned adware. But ad-aware picked it up as spyware.
And I *realy* have to be careful of this sort of stuff; I have information on my computers that I definately don`t want public. Things like my email addresses- I want to have control over who knows them, so that I know who I can expect mail off </font>
