Well I for one have two completely different
personalities. My internet personality is annoying and immature :D , while my normal personality is totally the opposite. What about you?

Evil Al 07-31-2002 09:05 PM

Well I'm mostly immature online as well. Offline I'm more of a zealot {Remembers sig} In everything I do and say.

Encard 07-31-2002 09:11 PM

I'm not actually sure whether my online personality is more subdued of less so than my normal personality, maybe neither, or both... *shrug* Probably less subdued, but not sure...

Azred 07-31-2002 09:24 PM

I am always myself, regardless of the circumstances.

Oblivion437 07-31-2002 09:28 PM

In both worlds, I'm violent, hateful, and dangerous... It's like the walls of reality are thus caving in...

Downunda 07-31-2002 09:31 PM

Gives oblivion another hug :D

With me, what you see is what you get. A down to earth guy with a sense of humour and a heart of gold ...now if only I wasn't so modest, I'd be perfect :D

adam warlock 07-31-2002 09:57 PM

you'll meet two COMPLETELY different people.. you're better off talking to me on the 'net because I don't talk much in public.

Chewbacca 08-01-2002 02:01 AM

I am usually me, myself, or I, depending on the weather and time of day.

Seriously, I have little to gain by not being myself, regardless of the format I am projecting into.

Lady Blue03 08-01-2002 02:17 AM

Awe we all love Phil and his heart of gold :D *hugs*

Well, im insane offline. Depends actually; when im around emily im crazy hyper, but by myself(like on IW) i act as you see

Sigmar 08-01-2002 03:14 AM

On line as you may know I act like a Sigmarish Sigmar.

Off-line I'm a little differant off-line, less cautious,more responsible but I still like to have a laugh :D

J.J. 08-01-2002 03:21 AM

um....uh....yeah, what they said, uh-uh:D

Deiter Leafblade 08-01-2002 03:26 AM

My online personality and real personality are the same. I'm myself online and offline.

DragonMage 08-01-2002 07:06 AM

I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam. ;)

I am a smart@$$ online and off. I am friendly, fairly well outgoing most of the time and try to be as helpful as possible, but push my buttons or be hateful/hurtful and I become a wolverine. Thus I am the same here as anywhere else.

WYSIWYG! ;)

Neb 08-01-2002 07:11 AM

Online and offline I am a generally quiet person who will speak up when he feels it necessary but otherwise be content to observe.

Both online and offline I also have my somewhat chaotic/insane moments

Lifetime 08-01-2002 07:31 AM

Hmmm..
I dont know. Sometimes I switch from a morning personality to an evening personality, let alone an online personality..

Depends really. For the most part I'm outgoing and loud. I'm the same online and off in that I'm not afraid to live and I'm not afraid to be who I want to be..
Also tends to annoy people after a while, but hey, such is life.

Calaethis Dragonsbane 08-01-2002 07:37 AM

Really depends I guess... around friends I tend to relax, and joke around. heh, like I do on the net, well at least here at IWs,in "real life" when I'm not around friends, I can be an absolute monster: i.e. cold blooded. actually its mostly just for show. You wouldn't believe what dressing yourself intirly in black is like with a stern face. The number of invalids that stay out of your way is incredible. heh, then again, maybe I'm just being an arrogent addolesent.

Mojo 08-01-2002 08:04 AM

I'm pretty much myself on and offline, although I can't place what I'm like from day to day, on and offline...I'm a little more confused in things I say online...possibly bcoz they're commited to writing and what I say in real life isn't and can just be laughed off...

I would, u know...I really would

Melusine 08-01-2002 08:10 AM

I like to think I'm pretty much the same person on- or offline, with the exception that I'm a little more shy offline. But I suppose the other IW members that were at the BBQ can judge this better than me. All the people I met there, BTW, seemed to me the same people offline or online - my expectations based on talking to them online proved largely accurate.

johnny 08-01-2002 08:16 AM

I'm a moron online, and i'm a moron offline, and i'm damn proud. :D

Jerome 08-01-2002 09:06 AM

Like a few others: I'm quieter and more conserved with people I don't know offline.

Grimslade 08-01-2002 09:08 AM

I'm still relatively new to forums, so I am pretty much myself both online and offline. But I can feel myself loosening up abit online, which I think is a good thing, because offline I'm a little too shy for my own liking.

Epona 08-01-2002 09:50 AM

Melusine, I agree with you about the peeps at the BBQ - everyone was pretty much how they are online (although I wonder why Mouse uses that as his nickname cos he's anything but Mouselike!) I don't know how you feel, but for me it was like meeting a bunch of old mates you've known for ages but not seen for a while.

Personally I can't really behave any differently online than off - that's me, and I'm quite a direct and straightforward person. I really can't put on an act at all! Tho when I meet people I try to be on best behaviour, at least at first ;)

Aw, come on, Epona! Weren't you the darlingest little angel? It was so endearing the way you kept refusing all that beer because you were afraid you might become intoxicated and do something silly like wipe the floor with Wolfie!
Hehehehe *cough*

Seriously though, yeah, it was the same for me - it wasn't like meeting strangers at all. Even though you haven't met, you do know eachother, so the comparison to meeting old friends works for me as well.

And no, Mousie doesn't look much like a Mouse, but then, you don't look like a horse ;) , Donut doesn't look like a Donut, Yorick doesn't look like a skull and alas, I don't look like my sig either. But then, it's undeniable that Wolfie really is a wolf dressed up as a human ;)
And Claude is definitely a gnome - especially that funny laugh of hers ;)

LOL, I wondered how long it would be before someone brought that up Took a week for the bruises to fade btw, just thank feck that no-one could find a camera to record for posterity the sight of me getting whopped good & proper Did you know that Donut and Davros tried to tell me I'd broken a floor tile when I hit the deck? Of course I believed them, the gits

I know, I was there! :D
You two damn near broke something in the computer room though, luckily Simon had the presence of mind to lock you two out ;)
Too bad no one took pics! LOL

Sorry, of course you were there, I have a terrible memory
We also came close to breaking the Table of Doom if I recall correctly, Donut protected it as though his life depended on it tho.
Oh well, I suppose I will never live it down, with or without pics!
Was dead funny though!

SomeGuy 08-01-2002 11:26 AM

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell. There's no difference.I'm as goofy online as I am in real life!

Oblivion437 08-01-2002 03:26 PM

Downunda, I warned you about this *Gets Webley .38 Special* *Eliminates Downunda*!

Aelia Jusa 08-01-2002 09:18 PM

I think I'm pretty much the same online as offline. Although like Mel, a bit more shy offline, though I'm not all that outgoing online either. I know I don't try to act differently online, or put on some act; I don't know how I'm perceived but then I don't really know how I'm perceived offline either. I try to be a nice, genuine person all the time I guess

LennonCook 08-02-2002 08:54 AM

I`m almost the same online and off... only real difference is offline i`m out to annoy everyone, online i`m only out to annoy a select few targets :D

Kaltia 08-02-2002 02:21 PM

Online I'm really loud and outspoken, insane as well :D
I'm like that with really close friends and family but with anyone else I get all shy 'cos I keep on thinking they're going to be spiteful about the way I loook...I claim I don't cvare but the fact that I've got acne, glasses and braces inspires the nastiest £$@*&& there are....

You've failed pretty miserably then, haven't you? Hehe! :D

I'm completely different once I leave the computer. Offline I have shame, dignity, modesty and manners. I admit I'm often a complete prick on here, I think it's probably because I know I can get away with it. I really should get round to turning over a new leaf sometime soon, but to be perfectly frank, I'm having altogether too much fun! :D

Lord Shield 08-02-2002 02:33 PM

For the most part I behave differently on-line except to friends. Anyone but them just sees the silliness ;)

and I too am more shy offline

Sorcerer Alex 08-02-2002 02:44 PM

She's the mother of my kid, but I don't don't need Queen Shield to have fun. A lamppost will do ;)
Shut yer hole, pretty boy . You're different too - no groupies online :D . What's different there I wonder? Oh right, your personality has to carry you!

Holy moly this reply window is really big!

Sir Mandorallen 08-02-2002 05:34 PM

Well now, let me think. In public places around people I don't know, I act mature, stay relativly calm, and act refined. Around people I know, and like, I act depending upon the mood. If its a good one I joke around with them, and annoy and irritate others. Bad moods, and I try to cheer people up, or I act just as depressed as they do, depending on how my day is going.

But ussualy I am quiet and keep to myself.

On the 'net, I act around my friends the way I act around my friends in real life. And all together I'm not all that different.

The main difference is, however, I ignore whats going on in the rest of the world, (ya know, all the problems ect) and give up my "real world views" (that so many people say I have) and have more fun. Also I roleplay as a Paladin (hence my name) whenever I can, outside of the RP board. (which I don't even go to.) ;)

Silliness? I hadn't noticed

I have to admit, I don't know the meaning of the word 'shy' these days.
I used to be painfully shy, but one day I made the decision that enough is enough, and shed it almost overnight! It's amazing how you can change things that you don't like about yourself if you're determined enough, a bit of bluff necessary at first to carry you over the first hurdle, but you soon realise it's no big deal.
