How many of you guys like it? I love them all but i`ve heard some RPG fans say it`s total bulls**t. I belive RPG players that have a little Rollplayer blood in them like Diablos ;) .
|
I hate Diablo. Pure D&D is so much better in my opinion.

When not comparing it to anything, and not trying to call it an RPG I enjoyed Diablo 1, totally cool game. Diablo 2? Somewhat less fun, really. The prequel was far more entertaining. Probably the damn respawning monsters that did it, and the huge outside areas. EDIT: Couldn't vote, because Hellfire was sh*t and I haven't tried LoD. And I really didn't like Diablo 2 that much. Only liked D1 And there wasn't an option for that. [ 07-17-2002, 11:33 AM: Message edited by: Neb ] |
I never played them, so i guess i wouldn't know if they're good or not. Currently i'm playing a game called Nightstone, and according to PC Gameplay it is a shameless ripoff from the diablo series.
|
The Diablo games are not all that bad, but they do get kind of tiresome after a while.
|
D1 and D2 were entertaining for a few weeks apiece. What I ended up doing the most was trying to see what weapons and armor I could collect. Definitely a twitch game vice a tactical game.

I like the whole serie of Diablo!!

I like diablo series. I could play them forever if there's no new games out there. but what I don't like about diablo series is the ending. just imagine, you fought hard to defeat diablo but you end up becoming diablo himself in the ending. sheshhh!
|
D2 (haven't played D1) gets boring soon! You will do everthing in the same order everytime you play it (no subquests, not being able to move on to the next area without completing the previous etc.)I threw it away before completing it (never did that before but D2 is so bad)
(BG2 is MUCH better) |
I've played diablo 1 and 2 all the way, but completed it just once with a
mage, the rest were too boring. It has absolutely "NO REPLAY VALUE" and BG series is worth the time you put in. The most annoying thing about D2 is that each time you save and quit you end up in the town again, pretty annoying. |
D1 actually has nice replay value, the quests that you have to do(Except for the final two or so.) change each time. And the layout of all parts of the dungeon except for five or so sub-levels change as well.
|
When i sai that diablo had no replay value i actually meant D2, sorry for the misconception plus i forgot all about D1 except i and my friends had real fun killing the butcher. Gives you a hard time early in the game.
|
I've played through Diablo 2, and I thought it was ok. Nothing compared to BG2 or NWN, but still entertaining enough.

Hmm, am i the only female here who plays Diablo? *sigh* once again i have to give my seeing on this most excellent game :D :
Diablo 1 to me was kinda on the boring side. You couldnt run 1st of all, and it was so packed full of hackers that it wasnt worth playing(even though it got game of the year, go figure!) Ah, now Diablo 2 was much better :D . With closed battle.net, there was no cheating at all, except for map hack, which i really dont consider cheating :D . I enjoyed the game, and still do! I played it all summer and got my werewolf druid to lvl 76 in 3 days . I would still play it if i still had the CDs *sigh*. But hey the items are better then BG in my opinion . Not to mention its a hell of a lot easier to play online then the BG series! And yes, my lvl 86 sorceress could kick ur lvl 99 barbarians ass :D |
You forget one thing, LB, you only miss the running in D1 after playing D2. Oh, and playing it singleplayer, on a LAN or with someone you know will make you safe from hacks. I still say that it's better than the sequel. I sure had a hell of a lot more fun with it.
And with closed Battle.Net D2 is still full of morons and annoying people. More of the game was non-random. None of the quests were random at all, for instance. It also lacked that really cool "Dungeonish" feel of D1. In D1 you really felt like you were in a deep, dark dungeon. No telling what was around the next corner..... In D2 I felt like I was in a left mouse-button clicking contest |
*refers to the way the poll was set up*
There was actual *roleplaying* in Diablo?? Must've missed it... |
I've played Diablo 2 and LOD (haven't played D1) and i think that the game is AWESOME!!!
|
I agree with Nebling i also like the D1 better than D2 it hadd the "right" dungeon feelling that i not had in D2 but i liked the expansion from Sierra to the Hellfire i think that was a greate to!

LadyBlue
I am female and I have played Diablo I and Diablo II and bought Lord of Destruction. I have got to level 40 ish I think on D2 but then I got sidetracked by discovering BGI, ToSC and BGII, then I bought IWD, PST and now NWN. I will go back to Diablo II someday, because I thought the game was great. I liked DI for the different dungeons every time you started a new game with an old character. The reason I liked it was because it was mouse controlled. Most of the time in games that you use the keyboard, every so often your mind goes blank, you forget which key to press and BAM your dead.... Gives you arm ache and shoulder ache though, ack maybe I just play too much... Lady Zidane |
Played D2 once as a Paladin. Finished the game, did the "Secret Cow Level" & didn't feel the urge to try at the next difficulty level or a new class.
It's been collecting dust on my shelf ever since... :D |
Loved D1, but D2 was really disappointing. I'm one of the few who actually think that D1 graphics were a lot cleaner, clearer and crisper than D2 graphics, which were, for the most part, grainy, bland and boring. D1 had that dark, deep underground feel, like you're really descending into the depths of hell, and D1 was absolutely terrifying at certain points. It had a killer story, and was voiced by the many books and quests you found throughout the game. The fact that the town of Tristram was always shrouded in eternal night, the haunted music, everything was perfect. D2 just felt like an all-out grab for items and levels. It got ridiculous after act 2, but I kept playing it for the sake of getting better items and levels. Addictive, but hardly memorable.

Hated D1. Haven`t tried D2, and have no intentions of doing so.
|
I also think Diablo 1 was a lot better than Diablo 2, because back then, it was a new concept.
I liked the fact that the dungeons where different each time, and as many people said, the mood in D1 was a lot better. Me and my friends used to pay 5$ an hour each to play the game on a lan, we spent lot of money on that game. The best moments I ever had while playing pc games where when I played Diablo and Warcraft 2 in Lan. Those two games inovated pc gaming. Edit: I also didn't vote, because I don't really like Diablo II, and I never saw any roleplaying in the series, so I can't chose any of the options. Well I love the entire Diablo series... it is just that as Neb and the others mentioned, I miss the Diablo I atmoshpere... it had this dark hue thing... it was like a Tim Burton movie... hehehe in DII it got all colory and eew.. but it looks great when you are using 3d acceleration...
LB, I play a lot... but not as brutal as you... I hear stories of peeps getting to level 50 in one day... and you 76 in three dfays... but then I still cannot imagine... my hand hurts after like an hour... hehehe and BTW, a Barb can always kick Sorceress butt... given he is rightly equipped |
I enjoy roleplaying in Diablo2! People who get bored with it generally try out cookie-cutter characters and think there is nothing more to it.
I have a Bowmancer, a Nercomancer that inflicts massive poison damage... with a bow. ;) I have a Kungfudin, a Paladin that uses his fists to fight. I have a Drummer, a Barbarian who frenzies with dual wands! The fun potential is there. |
What are you blathering about Bahamut? My nova sorc is undefeated :D . 'Look a barbarian is whirlwinding at me!' Teleport, thunderstorm, lots of nova, thunderstorm, maybe a frozen orb, thunderstorm, o look, youre dead! Now i get the 50k you dropped on the ground :D
I 4get who said they played the palidin? You couldnt pick a worse class; pallys are good for their auras :D I miss that game, sigh. Plus Neblet, i dont have LAN connection |
I love Diablo 2, man!!!
I am especially good at trading and dueling with my necro... no offense to amazons out there, I will kill ya I got lvl 38 bonespirit & bonearmor, with 75% dmg reducation, so you do the calculation. plus I also have a gear with 2 ravenfrost, guardian angel and Luna and thundergod for full elemental absorb... heh and I am especially good at trading. started with grisword, end up with 7 sojs... ^^ you may say I am boasting, but I just love most aspects of this game... especially the trading! but recently I crafted my ccs with three 40% dmg ed jew socketed.... thats a 7 soj item, and I ended up with a trash that does 67 to 125 dmg... sigh, it was an accident. but oh well, I love Diablo 2!!! it is awesome [ 07-18-2002, 10:09 PM: Message edited by: 250 ] |

also, with cow lvls... one can lvl up to 75 with NO problem... I did that with my necro... I just leech in cow lvls, heh. I got up to lvl 75 in one day. I cannot really kill cows though... [ 07-18-2002, 10:14 PM: Message edited by: 250 ] |
Ey 250 ;) I am playing on Single Player so I can't really do it... but some of my fellow friends can... like whoa...
LB, I have seen a Barb and Sorceress gut it out... the Barb WW'd toward her... stupid, well the Sorcy thought she was good enough... she blasted him with hell... but the Barb reached her and she died. And SHE was higher in level than him... Dundee, I am not even finished with cookie-cutters... dang... I lose interest with one character because for the sole reason of..... changing names.. ta-da :D |

Shaftstop: -30% Physical Damage(pdmg)
Vampire Gaze: -15-20% pdmg String of Ears: -10-15% pdmg Stormshield: -30% pdmg That gives us a total of -85-95% pdmg, and I have not even started on Ber runes... but 75% is the cap anyway. |
Hmm... never thought of it... but in Hell I really need that more than Defense rating...
