Well it has rained here....a LOT. I saw earlier this week that San Antonio got coverage on the national news before things got as bad as they are now.
This ought to teach those religious fanatics to gather in masses and pray for rain lol. From what I understood prior to the rains, they were talking about seeding clouds to alleviate the drought...looks like someone went a little overboard but everyone is treating it like a natural phenomenon.

The media has had the appetite of a starving vulture, looking for death and destruction 24/7. Its really sickening. From what I understand, there was worse flooding in 1998, I can't imagine what they must have acted like then. (insert big gag here).

Well, look for Texas on the national news again...water is breaching the spillways of area dams and houses are floating away.

Its wet here in Lytle to say the least. Our schools are taking in refugees from neighboring towns who are losing their homes to the Medina River but there has been no local flooding to speak of beyond a half inch of water running off our back yard and onto our back porch overnight.

It'll be nice to see the sun again...good thing we mowed before it started raining lol.

I've been wondering how you guys were faring down in that direction!

We've had a lot of rain in North Texas, but nothing compared to Austin and San Antonio. Glad to see you're not flooded out.

Megabot,
4 months in a row, wow, that would take these parts off the map!
Its been raining fairly steadily for 5 or 6 days now...that's more than the areas north of us were prepared for.

I've seen coverage of roads being washed out and interstate highways underwater in San Antonio and am thankful I don't live there.
The worse thing is that most of the early flooding was caused by the neglect of clogged drainage lines.
IMO those people should have equipped themselves with proper drainage ways a long time ago. We have them here (which is why we are still relatively dry) and we are twenty times smaller a town than San Antonio. Makes you wonder.

Hi Saz!
Yeah we are doing well, thanks!

Tell that to the hundreds of people in Texas whose homes and businesses are damaged or destroyed by floods right now. I think they'd smack you upside the head before they told you to go ahead and take a walk in it (you'd be washed away).

Well, haven't heard bout all the rain, but NY needs some real bad. The grass is all dead, and its to freakin hot out to do anything. We had some Thunder storms a while back though

I am pretty sure the national news will be covering it tonight...they have had some unit of the National Guard called out today to survey some dam that is leaking and have been using Apache helicopters for emergency evacuations in some areas for the last couple of days.

The water is still rising. I am thankful that I live where I do for having to be so near the destruction.

I'll try to send it your way. ;)

Oh Dude, I am sorry that you took my post as an offensive remark to yours!
Reading over it, I guess it could be taken that way but that's not how I meant it. I am really sorry that you took it that way.
This isn't just rain...its major flooding....roads and bridges gone...homes...gone....communities evacuated while the water claims their houses and belongings...dams on the verge of breaking...and it isn't over yet.
I like rain! Just not seven days worth in an area that isn't prepared for it lol.

thats ok man apologies accepted i agree sunshines good but not loads of it.at least when the rain stops you'll have a solid block of sunshine as is the way of nature.and the whole mass destruction thing man thats real bad for any community but at least after all of this youll be able to rebuild some countries would be ttally destroyed by that, am sorry i just feel strongly about how some people forget about like the third world countries and stuff but hey is no biggy.
Felix

Moni 07-05-2002 03:30 PM

Thanks
Yeah, I know how you feel. I care about third world countries as much as I care about my own...if there were any way to make the world a perfect place, I'd be first in line to help make it so. :D

FelixJaeger 07-05-2002 03:36 PM

yeh i guess having such a 'democratic' *cough*oligarchial*cough* society in the world dont help.the only reason there in debt is because all the richer countries are too greedy to help them and drop there debts which would make the world a lot better(more places to trade with etc etc.) i should be a politician.well thats a big ambition for a 14 yr old.

It absolutely pissed down here today, really torrential, several inches of rain in a few minutes - typically enough I was out in it  It's been raining all bloody week here too.

Also there was a twister in Scotland last Monday, fortunately it stayed away from inhabited areas so there was no damage, the photos I saw looked awesome. Quite rare to get them inland here, but we've had a few in the last couple of years.

Hi Johnny! *hugs*
Everything is fine here, thank you for asking!
I've just been staying off my computer while lightning strikes nearby. ;)
One of our dogs (Zip) has also been very sick for the past week so I brought her in the house to more closely moniter her while we nursed her back to health...I've been spending a lot of time at her side. She's looking better now and will be put back out when the yard dries out some...she's gonna hate that LOL.

Moni when I saw the title of this thread I kinda thought it was about Miss Texas, she e-mailed me about how much she wanted me. Alas I lost the e-mail address and thought by some divine miracle you had found her for me! btw if you can send some rain here we need it badly. Please send it on weekends though

That was her little brother and he got in big trouble for teasing you...his e-mail account has been deleted so if you do find the addie, it isn't any good.
I made an attempt to send the storm to SecretMaster in New York and it seems to be headed in that general direction but I can't guarantee it will stay intact while it travels that distance. If its not too far away, I'll ask it to swing by your place and dump on you this weekend. ;)

You must be getting a little of our rain. I actually saw the sun yesterday.

DeSoya 07-06-2002 01:10 PM

We could definatly use some rain here in Colorado. It's cloudy for some period every day but never rains. ARGH!!!

I just think back to my college days though. :D It always helps me feel better during drought when I can remember the 93 consecutive days of rain that we got when I was studying in Tacoma, WA.

Here's hoping no one else gets flooded out of their home for a few days.
