Ziroc 06-25-2002 05:19 PM

I have asked many times for Members to have ONE account.

You think it's 'funny', but you are only making WORK for me--work that I don't need to do (Going and doing a search and deleting your fake account).

From now on, anyone that decides to create a fake account will get BOTH accounts deleted. I just don't have time to play games-- ESPECIALLY when I have Neverwinter Nights (I'll play THAT game!!) to play with! ;)

You don't need to do that. It may be funny to you, but it makes work for me, and eats up another space in the database.

No further warnings.

<font color=skyblue>Agreed!

Actually, I thought this rule already existed, and was surprised it was not previously enforced.</font>

Awww ... Ziroc, is it still OK to create a joint account when several IW members meet in RL ? Like Yoraine or Melusorick ?

I don't understand what you mean. how is an account for 2 people different that 2 seperate accounts? I am confused! :D

A joined account would cause confusion.. AFAIK.

Yes, there is. Act mature, and don't break the rules. In which, you broke not ONE, but TWO! A Banner Ad in your sig, and being an ass.

That is 2 to many for someone with only 8 posts. bye now.

Well I think she's referring to the 2-people accounts liek Yoraine, Melusorick and that one Wolfy and Sir_Tainly created - that sort of thing

</font>
Well, Ziroc, for example, when Yorick came to my place, we created a "Yoraine" joint account for the time when he was with me here. Is that still allowed ?

</font>
As in - when Moiraine and Yorick met up yonks ago they posted under the name 'Yoraine' - that was fine
Melusine and Yorick posted under 'Melusorick' - that was fine
Wolfie and SirTainley posted under ... oh well it was something bizarre that I can't remember - that was fine
So Neb and Kaz, when they met, posted under 'Knaebz' or whatever it was - that was deleted.

Just puzzled Dan, it's something that's been done for ages here, I thought it was part of the IW tradition when members meet each other (unless they cause havoc while doing so, no names mentioned)

Well, posting things like that on a post by the Webmaster is not going to endear you to anyone.

</font>
Hmmm. I didn't know it was a tradition!! Well, I guess I can let that go, I didn't really know you all were doing that, I thought you all were just making fake accounts for have fun with each other. :D , it just kinda makes it confoozing.

Why not just post as--say I was at your home, I would log in under my name, and post--saying I am at your place and saying hi! Since you won't be there for a long time, that 'joint' account would be dead after you left.... right? HELP! I AM LOSING IT! :D :D

Well, I *have* been up 19 hours now! Had to catch up with work and get some of my NWN Module finished up.

PS: Kaz, you may make the 'Knaebz' account if you two are at tge same place..

But the rule stands for people wanting a fake account to start posting silly stuff or fake fights or whatever.. THOSE are still subject to both accounts being removed.

Lord of Alcohol 06-25-2002 06:29 PM

Does this mean I should cancel plans for my Lord of Porno Banner Ads account? I had such great plans for it

Reeka 06-25-2002 06:31 PM

I thought everybody knew this. Just common courtesy in my opinion.

Cloudbringer 06-25-2002 06:33 PM

Aww.. Dan! LOL You need to sleep more! NWN and Morrowind are gonna Zombify you!

Yes, we did have those accounts when people met up as a tradition, I had NachtAngel when Jim and I met in Idaho last year. It's now been deleted, of course but it was legit at the time. We both posted on the one account for a few weeks.

But I DO agree wholeheartedly that people shouldn't make up a second account for themselves just to post 'arguments' or cause trouble- that's trolling and flaming.

Cloudy, who has her NWN but also is stucke with the VoodooFX3 videocard...sniffle...

I get enough of those as it is! :D NO "Lord of CASINO Banners" either, and I don't want an X-194827 camera to spy on my neighbors either! (I work for the CIA anyway.. I can just pull their blue sheets)

HAHA!! j/k!

Cloudy, we should have a club for people with inadequate videocards. We could call it GD, for "Gaming Dysfunction," no, wait, that's taken... :D

ROTFL! Those stupid camera and casino popups drive me BATTY! Hmm.. dunno though.. haven't seen the Lord of Porno ones.. hehe.. ;)

Cloudbringer 06-25-2002 06:39 PM

Attalus, my fiance says there may be a 'fix' for the Voodoo cards to make NWN work on them. I've not had time to explore it with him but if I do, I may hold off on a new system because money's tight and weddings aren't cheap. :D

Kaz 06-25-2002 06:45 PM

Thanks for clearing that up, Z! We were getting worried that you'd forbid an IW tradition!
Doesn't make much sense to re-register Knaebz (silly name, but what can you do with Kaz and Neb) now, it's pretty late here. And anyway, it was fun while it lasted.
BTW, are you only against advertising banners or against banners generally? Because all Sio was doing was linking to another forum in her sig, something that many people do - both on this forum and on others. Just wondering!

Well that was a rude thing to say. Put yourself in Ziroc's shoes - would you like to sort through people's duplicate accounts and go around deleting them, only to have some smart-arse make a comment like that on top of it? Dan puts a lot of hard work into this forum and then to have someone come up to him and ask if anything is allowed here is a bit much. He's well within his rights.

No doubt.

After all it is his place, he can do what he wants.

I was just curious if there was more going on than was what apparent in just that short post. I guess sarcasm is a bannable offense. :(

I guess I let a lot more roll off my back, that's all. :D

The Hunter of Jahanna 06-25-2002 08:15 PM

Now I am realy confused. Why would anyone make 2 accounts just so that they could start a flame war with themself?? Sounds like people have some real issues with reality out there.

Earthdog 06-25-2002 09:39 PM

I had thought at one time Id like to change my ID on here but I didnt want to lose all my posts. Im glad I didnt try to register a second account. To have Z mad at me makes me wanna

I am ever so glad Ive always done the honorable thing

Kakero 06-25-2002 11:32 PM

How about those that have LAN, thus their IP is the same, will their account be called duplicate and be banned?

Attalus 06-25-2002 11:37 PM

Galadria, Piestrider and I all post from this computer, and Ziroc has never seemed to mind. I think it is use of his space and time to play inane jokes and flame people that hack him off.

K T Ong 06-26-2002 07:15 AM

On another message board elsewhere I knew this member who very often flame-baited others by using subtle but highly abrasive language and making others the subject of derision and ridicule whenever they offered the least opportunity for him to do so -- as when they sometimes posted a thread talking about being dumped by girlfriends etc. He might reply: "You would only have yourself to blame for your extreme lack of intelligence in dealing with the opposite sex." The moderator on that message board has not been able to do anything with him so far, AFAIK -- because technically speaking he hasn't broken any rules. It's almost as if he's playing with the rules.

I wonder how he'll fare here at Ironworks.

Yes, I'd like to know that as well. A link is OK AFAIK, and that's all I have here, but on other forums I do use a banner. And some people use banners with a link to their forum/website here... Smoothbrain and Vaskez come to mind... maybe Vic does it as well, not sure. I didn't think there was any problem with that.

Lord Shield 06-26-2002 07:17 AM

I hope not. Twas I helped Sio set up her sig. didn't know at the time it was taboo :(

Melusine 06-26-2002 07:21 AM

Yes, but in her case, it's obvious that the banner wasn't the only reason for deletion.
I'm just curious what the general policy on banners is, as I know more IW members have them.

Dundee Slaytern 06-26-2002 07:39 AM

I used to have a banner ad in my signature, then I received a PM by Ziroc to remove it. I did so, and replaced it with a text link instead. No worries on my part.

Frankly, I think the Ironworks Forums have more pluses than minuses. Count the blessings and try not to focus too much on the negative.
