damn... talk about an escalation... guess Kimmy is getting desperate for some freebees from the US. GW may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but at least he knows enough to avoid appeasing that nitwit.

I find it so pathetically hilarious they can't even get their dummy dud wave-it-in-your-face hollow threat missiles to work. What a pathetic little country with a pathetic little leader who has visited nothing but wretchedness on his people.

Thoran 07-07-2006 10:08 AM

I like the fact that we KNOW that parts were falling off the missile shortly after launch...

but I'd really like to know HOW we know.

He is a sad and 'ronery little man... but he has managed to lob a missile over Japan so he has to be taken seriously.

I think he needs a hug.

Timber Loftis 07-07-2006 10:41 AM

I think he needs a kick in the nuts. But I practice tought love.

Couldn't agree more Timber.

@Thoran - GW talked tough at first, but the US has quietly gone back to the negotiating table in the months since, much to my dismay.

I hope that this concentrates minds in the US on the real priorities in the world - I'm convinced that NK is one of the largest threats facing America.

ZFR 07-07-2006 12:43 PM

I think he was misunderstood. Kim Dzong Il was just trying to celebrate the 4th of July with some really big rockets.

I'm guessing that there might have been a few subs parked off the coast.

Guys like this don't pose a real big threat because you know what he's doing...it's the guys that you can't see that are the problem.

Another paper tiger. They probably can't even light a firecracker without it exploding in their own faces. why do we even bother negotiating with those dumbasses ?

Screw Iran! Bush need to get his priority straight. If this doesn't rock his balls. I don't know what does.

Djinn Raffo 07-08-2006 03:45 AM

It's unfortunate that as whack as N. Korea is they still hold a few heavy cards.

Something to do in our spare time?

Why shouldn't they go back to the negotiating table? Look at Iraq, "Hale" there was over 15 years of negotiating table (Diplomatic)crap, before anything was done yet the "We have to talk to'em" crowd still complanined about there wasn't enough talking going on before the USA and it's allies went in.

I'm not convinced NK is any type of threat, "Hale" they claim to have the bomb but have they proved it by testing one yet? Given NK's history of their honesty and ability to speak the truth, NK would have to set a nuke off before I believed them. I learned a long time ago if'n somebody lies to you continually, the odds get better and better each time they open their mouth they are lying. (Fool me once shame on your fool me twice shame on me.) If you look at EVERY country that claims to have nukes, has proved it, tested the nuke for all to see! (Israel doesn't claim to have nukes, everybody else claims they do. Israel's policy is they don't talk about it, if an official is asked about nukes the official will not answer, cause they don't talk about it.)

You guys are worse than a pack of striped hyenas. You oh-so oppose the current administration, and everything that is currently under way, but yet you want US to jump and run to piss on another fire?
Why?
What actions have these caused for World uproar?
What actions have these caused for terror, or atrocity to other people?

I guess the SCUDS with chemical agents that were test fired on the Kurds are forgotten? That the SCUD D was capable of hitting 'friendly' countries within the region, and the reworked rocket system range is unverified, but is considered to be a few hundred kms longer than previous technical details expressed.

Ah well, just re-read the article that Thoran posted.

But data from U.S. and Japanese Aegis radar-equipped destroyers and surveillance aircraft on the missile's angle of take-off and altitude indicated that it was heading for waters near Hawaii, the Sankei Shimbun reported, citing multiple sources in the United States and Japan.

A U.S. Aegis classed destroyer? Such a small ship to be in such a 'rough' area. Hmm, what about all that "rocket propelled" hardware to go along with all of that radar on board? Surely you don't think "W" grinned when they launched?
Wonder how much coverage it had?
Surveillance aircraft? Destroyers do not have anytype of aircraft. So even if the reporter bloated the story, there had to be something else for the a/c to have deaparted from and returned to.
The US holds a lot of secrets, some even the CinC, or for you guys "W", are not privvy of.

So a shorty story. Recall the Kirusk? How do you think the US Navy was the first to report the incident?

Recall the USS Cole? Small craft suicde bombers? Recall the ship was all hands on station, however the WEAP-CON Status was Weapons "HOLD". Due to our lovely left leaning press that cannot tell the difference between a loaded gun, and a broomstick? Yeah, the same ones.

Just a general question.
How many "Virginia" class subs do we have?
How many "Seawolf" class?
How many "Ohio" class?

And, where are they?

We are under the table talking back with N. Korea, as well as China. What you all have forgotten is China does not want US their. How much pressure will they apply? Don't know yet, but probably enough to shake up N. Korea for a minute or two.

There is probably enough hardware within strike range to eliminate the entire Pennisula, and that's just it. We also use S. Korea for political purposes, and don't want to eliminate them as well.

@Kakero, you are way to close to the kitchen at the moment. In addition this event would more than likely not do that! Sorry for ya!

John D Harris 07-08-2006 04:15 PM

Preach it Bro. Felix, preach it! ;)

Morgeruat 07-09-2006 10:54 AM

I hear ya Felix, they don't want us there (or anywhere else for that matter), but they still want us to jump and run to protect them.

Some destroyers do carry aircraft. Infact, the USS Mustin carries two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters. While not surveillance aircraft, and almost certinly not what the reporter was talking about, they are aircraft.

USS Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates, smaller and older warships that carry aircraft.
