One thing I like to do when assessing an enemy is to put myself into their shoes (as much as possible) and try to guess where they might go... I don't like where that takes me.

Saddam is a bad guy... but he's not stupid, given this I don't like the possibilities that creates.

He knows that in this war he's going to lose.
He knows his army will be destroyed.
He knows that it's very unlikely he'll be able to inflict significant Allied casualties.

So he'll die looking like an impotent little fish who's been drowned in a big pond. Given that he's an egomaniac, he's not going to want to go out with such a whimper. So what do you do when you can't hurt the oppositions militar? You go after their civillians.

This tends to lead me along two tracks...
1) Go after Israel - If Saddam still has SCUDS (I think he does), and Saddam has Chem/Bio (I think he does), I think there's good odds he'll lob them at Israel. The only problem with this is that Isreali's are pretty well prepared for such an attack, which would mitigate the potential damage.

2) Go after US/UK homelands - Get some Chem/Bio in a ship, drive it into New York Harbor, and use a wind dispersal, you could quickly cause as many US casualties as we're likely to inflict on the Iraqis. I'm sure it's not so simple but that doesn't mean it's not possible. If you want to hurt the enemy and you can't hurt their military... you hurt their civillians.

He's had plenty of time to put together plans for such attacks, I tend to think that we'll see SOMETHING along these lines before he's done.

He has also been buying Israeli diamonds... this smacks of someone getting ready to leave when the going gets nasty. He had 2 billion dollars at last check. He used to be among the richest men in the world.

I think you are right, and he is going to want to do damage. He could light up the oil fields again (insert epithet here), or he could kill off his own people. They are right there, after all. There wouldn't be a whole lot of planning involved.

I am not sure what he will do - but I would go crazy trying to second-guess.

He's already got a couple burning... the environmental damage he's creating is truly depressing. So much for him saying "I would not burn the oil wells of my people blah blah blah". He's such a blatant liar I find it amazing that anyone believes he doesn't have ALL the weapons he claims he doesn't.

I'd have a secret headquarters built in a volcano somewhere in the south pacific. It would be protect by sharks with laser beams mounted on their heads. It would be used to muster my minions for eventual world domination.

I would also issue ultimatums like, "I'm going to destroy city X unless you give me ONE MILLION DOLLARS! Muahahaha"

If I were a pillar of virtue and was being invaded I would do whatever it takes to win against the larger advancing army including chemical and biological weapons. What ever it takes to kill as many enemy soldiers as possible.
I would not burn the wells or attack the civilian population.

If I were a sadistic dictator I would do all of the above as well as burn everything to the ground to keep it from the enemy as well as flee with several of my elite troops to start a terrorist organization against the invading countries.

Well, I find it difficult to think like someone as insane as he is. Evidence: he really thinks he can take on the US and Britain and Spain and everybody else that is allied with us and win?

He is crazy and this is pointless. The oppresion of the Iraqi has to end. These insane dictators have to be stopped. Can anyone say Hitler?

There is no real way to say what he will do at this point. He is quite a *&*&*^ed up man. He has killed thousands, and gets off on death. He has ordered tortures to others and watched it all, if not participated in it. He takes people he thinks may not be "loyal" to him, and puts them in a room, and takes a blowtorch to their baby's feet while they watch. He takes old women (grandmas) and impales them on hooks on the wall so he can slowly watch them die, he takes old men (grandpas) and takes a hack saw to their genitals, and sits and watches them die. Then later, he goes home to one of his "palaces" and watches video films of all his atrocities, cause it excites him, then goes and rapes some poor woman he has forced to be one of his mistresses. He is supposedly very afraid of death (which is not surprising, he's seen it all in all its hideous pain horror filled glory), overly concerned about "germs" and makes his followers kiss him on the shoulder. He undergoes platic surgery and dyes his hair and moustache so he looks younger and stronger, and doesn't usually wear glasses when speaking in public, as he thinks it makes him look weak.

Think of some sicko serial killer, and you are thinking of him.

I personally aren't happy about War (because I don't want to see innocent people that just happen to live there killed), but dang, I'm all for taking that evil person off this planet so he can't torture anyone anymore and can get a bit of his own medicine.

The answers are simple:
1) I am going to take out as many of my enemies as I possibly can by any means necessary. I will implore every citizen who is loyal to me to pick up a gun and fire at enemy troops. I will order all my loyal troops to fight until death and never surrender.

2) I will make the price of victory extremely high to my enemeies. I will destroy my own infrastructure to hinder their progress, including blowing up roads, bridges, and buildings. I will torch my own oil wells and poison the water and food supplies. I will plant bombs in every vehicle, whether it runs or not. I will plant land mines wherever possible. I will even handcuff children and old people to military targets to make my enemies afraid to damage them.

3) I will keep my last bullet for myself. As a maniacal and sadistic behavior, I will be damned before I allow myself to answer to your system of justice.

Hope Saddam doesn´t read this, he might get some ideas.

If I was an maniacal and sadistic dictator I would do just what Azred mentioned, my enemies would eventually win but at a great price.
This would even inspire some people and I would have become a martyr and hero.
