If some of you were wondering where the bin Laden toilet paper and the MasterCard terrorist parody threads have gone, I've deleted them due to the possibility that they may prove offensive to some members of our community. I'm letting you all know as it's part of MY policy to let you know what threads I delete. As a moderator I should have known better. This thread will provide more details.

Once again, apologies - it was certainly not my intention to cause offense.

Don't be silly!

Those were great!

That's the problem with the world today, not only in the US, everyone is too concerned with making anyone else feel bad.

I appreciate your reasons, but please...

Ronn, i cannot remember seeing that melville quote before, it is excellent, thank you for putting it up for us to see and remember that this great nation has faced greater threats in the past, and all of them are only footnotes in the history books now. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no.../xyxthumbs.gif

I think it's great, too, but I can't claim credit for applying it to this situation.

I saw it on someone elses signature and thought it was neat. Later when I decided to add it to mine, I searched online and found a create Melville site(thanks google).

It's certainly better than my old sig which said, "An elevator smells different to a dwarf." http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif Ah, those were simpler times....

I don't have a problem with being an anti-Al-Quedan. They are proven terrorists and I am NOT a terrorist supporter.

However, at risk of offending certain members/lurkers here who might think that bin Laden is a hero, I've decided that as a moderator it is improper for me to post the link to the bin Laden toilet paper site., as my views might be construed as being the views of Ironworks as a whole. Mods are supposed to be neutral and impartial in these matters. Also the MasterCard terrorist parody thread. Deleted they were, and deleted they will stay.

I'll give you a hint though: do a Google search on "bin Laden". You never know what might come up. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I did not read the MasterCard thread, but what might happen is that one of the Muslim members or Arab members on this board (there probably are some) thinks that this is directed against Arabs/Muslims in general. I do not see much chance of that happening, but it should be avoided.

But you CAN stay neutral, in favor of the good guys - i still do not get the 'not wanting to offend' those who would NOT think bin loadin bowl is a baddie. c'mon, go ahead, like Z said, they ARE NOT welcome here at IW, offend away, in a nuetral way, of course!http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif *JJ sneaking off to google to bring back goodies of an incendiary nature*http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/hihi.gif

Would a pro Bin Laden site worry about offending the West with inflammatory statements? No. I wouldn't worry about offending a Bin Laden supporter. If they were even here I'd be asking them, why are they here if they hate what this represents? There are images of people here, that violate their precepts of not viewing potential idols.

We must be careful in desiring balance that we don't throw weight the other way. It is perfectly natural and normal to express support voiced as disdain for the enemy.

We have had servicemen on the board. Our friends Hellfire and Turbovee. Let's give them our unequivocal support as friends first and foremost.

Absolutely a great way of reminding us that it IS personal - not even requiring '6 degrees of separation' to be personally involved - we all have frinds and family who are in uniform. To not be vociferous in my support of them, and in condemnation of our common enemy seems a betrayal on a personal level, as well as national.
Thanx, oh Bard of the Board http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no.../xyxthumbs.gif
