It's not legit'ly possible to have this item in SoA or Tob is it? It was one of the best items in BG1 (25% MR & +1 AC/Saves) and I've always been looking out for it everytime i played BG2 but never seen it anywhere. So am i right?
Cos I hate being right :D

andrewas 05-19-2002 04:26 PM

yes, your right. But there are some damn good cloaks out there, and you could always add it in if you wanted.

Bristowe 05-19-2002 04:49 PM

Yeah, thought so.. damn eh?
Used to give that cloak to Vic. She pratically becomes immune to magiks...haha oh well, i'm importing it in with SK, I'v finished the game enough times to do this with clear conscience. :D

LOL! Interesting technique, even though I've never tried it...
I think the only item that can be carried over from BG1 if it's on your character are the golden pants.

Not quite: If your PC had the Claw of Kazgaroth, you'll find that in the same bookcase where you'd normally find the Helm of Balduran. But, if you do that, you won't find the Helm of Balduran, and I think we all know which item's better.

I would hack the Cloak of Balduran into the game only after I'd reached ToB, as the Cloak really is too overpowered to be in SoA. (Well, if it just set your base MR to 25%, it'd be OK for SoA. If it was plus 25% to your current MR, it's definitely ToB-only.)

</font>
I tried this once, failed miserably. I think you have to hit pause as soon as the game loads, while its stil blacked-out. Of course its hard to tell the exact moment.

I think I read on the Bioware website that if you import a character who has lots of good items then you have a greater chance of finding better items in SoA.

A question- what's a bag of holding? (I don't have SoA and trying to borrow it from my friend at school is like trying to get blood from a stone.)

Morgeruat 05-21-2002 11:02 AM

a bag of holding is a magical sack, bag or pouch that can hold a set amount of weight or a certain area, whichever is greater, 250lbs-5000lbs, not sure about size, but it holds the items in an extradimensional space where they are kept safe and prevents you from appearing to be an easy mark to thieves(looking for anything your pockets might hold), city guards(trying to control weapon ownership among non-nobles) or anyone else who would search you for things to steal/confiscate.
the bag never increases in weight making it a great way to pack a dragons horde out of a dungeon, and is one of the best magical items in d&d, unless you jump into a portable hole, rope-trick spell, or other extra-dimensional space in which case the bag of holding ruptures and spills it's contents into the astral plane.

There is also a cursed variety called a bag of devouring, it functions as a bag of holding for a while then has a chance to either randomly empty itself into the astral or "bite" off whatever apendage reaches into the bag.

for the sake of bg2 it is a bag that can hold almost any other item, and has a VERY large amount of space, arrows, sling bullets, and crossbow bolts however count against the maximum carrying capacity for each arrow/bullet/bolt in the bag.

</font>
Yeah it works, tried it once. But perhaps they fixed it in Tob?

For the Item drop thing, you ahve to pause during the black screen before your charecter cries out for the first time. I havent tried it but it should work
