My favourite online test of all times. This has been taken by many leading politicians.
You have to be fairly opinionated and know a bit to take this, or you'll come out wrong or neutral.
It measures you in two axis: Libertarian to Authoitarian
Left to Right

You'll see where many people have ended up from: Hitler, Stalin, Chairman Mao, Gandhi, to Bush, Tony Blair... etc.

all at www.politicalcompass.org

sorry i don't know how to do the linky thing

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -3.88
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.82

I took this test months ago, and back then I was more around -6, -6.

The Hierophant 09-12-2003 05:26 AM

um, how did they get Hitler, Stalin and Chairman Mao to take an online computer test?

Faceman 09-12-2003 05:57 AM

It has not been taking by the politicians but political analysts have assessed what they would have said if they had taken the test based on their policies rather than on their (private) personal beliefs.

I stand somewhere with Gandhi and Mandela. I can live with that.

Hmm...according to this test I'm more left than I really am in reality. And I'm probably more authoritarian than this.

Oh well, at least the company isn't so bad (Gandhi and Mandela), it could have been worse.

I too find it funny they got so many people to take the test. I'd like to see the Dali Lama's particular responses. :D The pope, too.

Me and Chretien.

Okay, looking at the numbers. I rest my case that IW is liberal left.

Ideally, I'd like to consider myself economically to the right yet socially liberal. In other words, I'd prefer a score of Econ. +3 and Liber/Auth -4. I notice no one ranges much into that quadrant. Maybe I should read some Freidman. Anyone got any good suggestions?

Again. According to their site they have not had the Pope, the Dalai Lama or Jean Chretien take that test. They had some people analyze their speeches, policies, interviews,... and answered the test FOR them accordingly.
At least this is waht they say on their page (If I did not misinterpret - okay this sentence seems to be relative enough :D )

Actually, apart from Khazadman (who didn't post his exact results), you're the most rightwing person so far in this topic.

Relatively speaking, yes, since others' scores are much more "left" on the economic scale; I see that a couple of people had "higher" scores on the political scale than I did.
By "centrist", I meant that my position relative to the absolute center (the point 0,0) was closer than others' positions. A lack of extreme viewpoints, in other words.

I can live with being "the most right-wing person", however.

Of course what they think is central is of course not what correct minded people think of as centre (ME )

Anybody slightly right of me is a dangerous fascist and those left of me are just well intentioned but politicly naive ;)
