I know this question has been asked a WHOLE lot of times, but the answer i seek isnt anywhere in the search-results :(
Anywayz, im a human kensai lvl 8 , I have SoA, with ToB installed. I plan to finally solo the famous kensai/mage, doubting its gonna be easy since i patched most high-lvl bosses to be damn hard to beat. So, soloing a kensai/mage all the way through ToB, -At what lvl should i dual-class? -And how does a lvl 1 mage survive in that world ? I thought i read lvl 13 once, but im not sure why exactly lvl 13 is the best lvl .... Thx for any replies |
well if you play all the way through i would dual at his top lvl40.you can always import your char into a new game so dual the strong bastard afterwards. you gain more hitpoints as a fighter anyways. just make sure you have lots of points into your constitution
Lol, a mage'll only be able to reach lvl 31, even with ToB installed .. so that would mean he never gets his kensai-abilities back :D
Nice thought .. but i kinda wanna finish it in one game |
When people say "solo" do they mean play without any additional party members at all? Such as no mincs, jaheria, or any party member? In other words TRULY SOLO WITH ABSOLUTELY NO HELP WHATSOEVER????
yes no help you and you alone. ive got it done twice with my undead hunter pali kit. and they say it couldnt be done but yes you have to beat the game by your lonesome self. they say its hard with no theif to unlock stuff but if you got strength set to 25 you can easily open any door or lock(most locks). one way to get 25 str get crom faeyr

and daan a mage can only get to lvl31 but a fighter or kensai kit can go up to lvl 40
.... oops, i kinda rushed through there .. poor people :(
straight leave their butts in the dungeon to rot they are annoying throughout the game anyways...
yeah , i know, but if you'd dual-class a lvl 40 kensai to a mage .. you'd never be able to surpass the kensai's lvl with the mage.
And that means you wouldnt get the kensai-abilities back , i kinda like those abilities :D |
lol, this is starting to look like MSN or something :D
ok so duel at lvl 31
Still wont be able to get beyond lvl 31, and still wont be able to get my abilities back
Kensais should be dualed at level 13 as they will have just got -2 to their speed factor (i think they get this every 4 levels) so this is a good time to dual. How a first level mage survives though i havent got the faintest idea!!! Good luck :)
Lol, ok, thx :D
I'll just think happy thoughts and hope the enemy doesnt bother to take on a lvl 1 mage who is trying to kill them by casting magic missile x2 / resting ... casting magic missile x2 / resting |
A Level 1 Mage survives by drinking a few Potions of Genius and scribing all of those neat little scrolls he could never understand while he was a Kensai. Then, after a nice nap, he's suddenly a Level 7 Mage, with a few Summoning spells and all the Wands he needs. Blammo!
Yeah, either level 9 or level 13. However, seeing as you're going to be capping him out, I'd probably go for 13...you'll still hit 27 as a mage which is pretty awesome, as he'd finish off his spell levels at 29.
Dual classing at levels 31 is never going to work, because like daan's said already, you'd never manage to get anywhere near that level with the new class and so would end up with a low-mid level mage with no fighting abilities, unless of course you remove the XP cap, which is of course cheating :D
Always dual at level 13. This will give your kensai +4 to hit, +4 to damage, -3 to weapon speed and most importantly, the additional half attack per round from level 13. |

And as for the Kensai... Im not sure if its been said... but go through your manual and figure out a good level... you CAN try to do it so that when you hit the cap it will Be pretty even... but then you gotta play through a fair while on a low level mage... not an easy thing to do :( </font> |
most traps i dont take damage from though(high magic resists). i just miss out on some chests i cant open, which are very few anyways.
