So,
when is it going to be up? It has been ages since I have chatted on the net. It was fun at first, but it got boring. But with you guys it wont . We are a much better much more dysfunctional family than even the Osbournes. I love you guys! ;)

Legolas 05-29-2002 05:49 PM

Once you've selected one, give it some time. It can be anywhere from 2 to 30 seconds before you have your connection

What does it say - you could be having firewall trouble or soemthing. If it gives an error post it, otherwise it will run through all the servers till it find s one that works.

SomeGuy 05-29-2002 06:01 PM

andrewas 05-29-2002 06:17 PM

I cant help if you dont give me anything to help with. What Internet connectionare you using - schools, work, library? If its a home connection your firewall has to let traffic through on the righ ports - 6667 I think.

Whats a MIRC program?

Legolas 05-29-2002 08:12 PM

you can d/l it from www.mirc.com and it's... a bit like the screen you get using the browser, but with more options once you learn to use them (you can adjust the width of the screen too ;) )

To get on IW, just fire it up, go through the first-time procedures, add a new server by clicking 'add' in the options menu and fill in something like Description: Ironworks, IRC server: dallas.tx.us.undernet.org (or any other server listed when using the browser) and Port(s): 6667

Then click connect to IRC server, type /join #Ironworks and you're in.

It's a bit more work first time around, but if jIRC (I think it's jIRC anyway) doesn't work, you might as well try it this way.

Hope I got this right

I think it might be a good idea to sticky a thread containing the Chat Room URL, as I think not as many people are using it because they haven't seen the threads about it.

vesselle 05-29-2002 10:56 PM

i can't get it to work, either. and i get on java irc chats all the time for other games, dev conferences, etc.

it just runs and runs and runs but never makes that final connection.

don't understand why it won't work. port 6667, right? thats standard for these things, iirc. any and all help is welcomed.

btw, why not have regular times? like am and pm depending on where you are, or what hours you keep.

V***V
