Just gauging the general opinon.

Sazerac 05-21-2002 10:47 AM

It's one of the main things that first attracted me to General Discussions; the posting of original writings here. Unfortunately, we see very little of that now; instead, we get belly-button lint examinations of one's opinions about one's emotions about everything from Al-Qaeda to gun control.

I for one would LOVE to see more original writings posted up here.

Doesn't bother me, but don't they go in the books and movies forum?

Talthyr Malkaviel 05-21-2002 12:26 PM

Well I think the Books and Movies is mainly for discussing existing books and movies, but I'm not sure.
I've voted and I'm all for literature in here.

Epona 05-21-2002 01:43 PM

I remember when we used to get a lot of creative writing here. I didn't always have the time to read all of it, but nevertheless I think it's a great idea.

Reeka 05-21-2002 02:15 PM

I am all for the posting of original creative writing on forums. I think it is a good perview for amatuer writers.

RudeDawg 05-21-2002 02:25 PM

I love to read, and POST, short stories and poems...
It's great to see the creativity of everyone here.

BTW, Saz...
I have a ton of stuff on a ZIP disk. I don't feel like buying a ZIP drive just for one transfer session. Do you have a way to burn it to a CD at work, or to post it where I can get it off the ZIP?

Galadria just posted part of her novel (finally - I have been trying to get her to send it to a publisher) on the Imoen Same-Sex Romance thread in the ToB forum. If you like fantasy writing, you might want to check it out.

The.Relic 05-21-2002 05:46 PM

Yep, we did used to get a lot of short story's posted. I really did enjoy reading Wolfie, and BK and Tobb's. We had some very nice writing here by a lot of people.

Aelia Jusa 05-21-2002 05:56 PM

I like reading people's original works, that's why I belong to OUAP . I think if people want to post their stories and poems (especially poems, sometimes I get bored reading longer stories ;) ) then they should! I would read them and comment. But maybe in the books forum, since it doesn't get that much traffic at the moment.

Ladyzekke 05-21-2002 05:56 PM

Same here, I used to enjoy reading people's own writings/stories/poems. I remember having a few chain stories way back when that were fun too, loved to see how people changed my story after my original beginning paragraph

The chain stories! Ahhhh the nostalgia! Unfortunately I'm not very creative myself (unless it involves being crude lol) :(

Redblueflare 05-21-2002 06:22 PM

Seems like everyone is giving you the go ahead Jerome! Just make sure Ian doesn't see this thread unless you want to read a 30 page story called Neko Neko Knights. ;)

Gary Larson 05-21-2002 06:23 PM

Scholarcs 05-21-2002 06:39 PM

mistral4543 05-21-2002 08:09 PM

It'll be nice to see other people's work, whether these be located in GD or some other forum within IW

The Hunter of Jahanna 05-21-2002 08:17 PM

I am all for posting original stuff , just so long as it isnt crappy mopey goth poetry. I get enough of that on the other boards I go to.
