Big Brother 3 is starting on Friday and I'm really looking forward to it. The thing is I don't know why.

Can someone explain the attraction of this programme?

Epona 05-21-2002 06:36 AM

Blimey Donut. No I can't explain it. Go have a drink and a lie down, maybe you'll feel better later.

BIG BROTHER II is on at the moment in OZ - in fact the daily episode comes on in 15 mins. Ooooh, what fun, what joy - what a great opportunity to watch the footy channel instead :D

Big Brother has attraction ?? Ok, there is one way to break out of such an attraction- get a better internet connection... it got me out of watching shows that I didnt like anyway

Sazerac 05-21-2002 09:23 AM

"Big Brother", "Survivor", and their ilk are one reason why I no longer watch TV, and only use the Internet and listen to radio.

Jeez, I thought you were talking about the system monitoring tool for
UNIX systems, hehe guess I should not assume technical subjects took me half the posts before I realized you were talking about television.

But...but...Saz...you are denying yourself the pleasure of some really good informative things too...unless you don't have cable...in which case...to quote Roseanne RoseannaDanna "never mind".

Agreed. But in Australia we have a few more reasons such as Home and Away, Neighbours, Temptation Island etc.

I feel that watching reality tv has become an obsession to those people who do not have a life of their own.

Davros 05-21-2002 09:53 AM

LOL - funny you should mention "Home and Away" Aviendha - I remember getting sent for a fortnight to Surinam (top of Sth America) about 8 years ago - turned on the TV in the hotel room, and walked straight into an episode of "Home and Away" - in Dutch ;) . Even over there I couldn't escape from it.

Rikard_OHF 05-21-2002 10:23 AM

Big Brother is fun coz it's originally dutch

Yeah? Name them.

(I do have cable, BTW...I'm still not impressed...unless "Judge Judy", "Survivor II", "Jenny Jones", "Jerry Springer", and reruns of "Full House" are considered informative. )

Ah, I miss Bianca though - her strident cry of 'Oi Rickyyyyyy' was enough to start every dog in the neighbourhood howling....

Various other eastenderisms:
'yoooo caaaoooowww' (trans: you cow).
'Oi, leave it bruv'
'Oi, vats my bruvva your talkin to'
'Aooow cooould yooooo, yooo caaoooowww'
'oooh Nick, ow cood yoo do vat to yer own muvva'

I hate that bloody soap.
