The only thing that's frightening about this is that there are actually nutcases out there that believe this spew and continue to perpetuate it.

HOLY S**T!!!
Ive gotta make me a bomb shelter and plead for the end to come swiftly! We're all gonna die! Praise be to the Almighty! Seriously though, what a loon... anyone who believes this S**T should be locked away for a very long time... :::shakes his head saddly at all of the loons::: |
Sad...to think someone has spent all that time doing this site...I'm trying to decide which is worse, that someone wrote it, or that someone believes it...
BK |
Oh my - that was an ..... experience
the writer ACTUALLY believes that **** |
Or maybe the writer is just making fun of people who believe that sort of crap? We can only hope

Just another in a long string of apocalyptic, paranoid rantings that the Internet allows to exist. In one sense they are funny, but I don't laugh when they start blaming all of the world's problems on one nation or group of people.

Donut! I'm worried about your mental health. You seem to be finding alot of extremist url's of late and I wonder if perhaps that foil hat is too tight? ;)
Really, this is one of those too-ridiculously-off-the-wall-to-believe sites. I'm with BK on wondering which is worse, posting all that or believing it. Azred, nicely said. :D |
Yep, the end is coming.... I wasn't sure, but the Budweiser Clydesdales are a positive sign of the endtimes...
(What hole do these crazies crawl out of? And why can't we block it up?) |
"Game over man, were all screwed"
Those site's alway's give me a good chuckle. I already know that I am going to burn in hell, they dont need to preach it so much :D |
When I went to Edinburgh in the year 2000 a man stopped me in the street and he gave me a phamphlet talking about the end of the world. After I read the rubbish my friends and I went back to him and said
"According to this the world should have ended in the year 2000 on the first day of the first month, this needs to be updated. The world is still here you know", the man was quite taken aback. How can some people be so stupid. [ 05-15-2002, 03:20 PM: Message edited by: Sigmar ] |

first of all, what did any of these events have to do with the horsemen? I'm sorry but its pathetic that we relate political events to biblical scripture... OH MY GOD! JIMMY CARTER! NOOO! HE WON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION! THAT MEANS THAT HARRY TRUMAN WILL BRING ABOUT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE THROUGH TOTAL NUCLEAR DISENTIGRATION WHEN HE RISES UP FROM THE DEAD AS THE APOCALYPSE EMBODIED! AND THEN GEORGE CORN WALLICE WIL BE THERE TOO! AND HE WILL BE OF EARTH AND FIRE! YAAAH!
see how easy it is to write up stuff like that? The fact that they belive any of it is hoohaah, really... i'm sure that people have been saying that the world was going to end as early as a week before the world as we know it began!! Infact I bet that right after christ's death a WHOLE buncha' folks started screaming "AAAH WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE ITS THE END OF THE WORLD" too, its jsut the net allows a medium like that to be reflected on a much larger scale, remember the Y2K scare? How about the Egyptian Rhind Rhapidus... OR how about you look at the Mayan CAllendar which says the 10th planet of our solar system will be revealed, when that day comes, apparently, the world will change in such a way that the mayan calander will be obsolete DECEMBER 23RD 2003!!! 23 23 23 23 23 23 the number has to deal with ALOT and it is quite dangerouse... but seriously folks, if any of you should happen upon the anti-christ, please, tell him to come down here and pay me a visit, I'd just LOVE to meet him, :D *pats an m-16 in his lap* |

Hey flibulzbuth,
Free beer AND sex 10 times a day?!? All I have to do is send you all my money?!? What's the address? Sign me up! |
Well Sir, you seem a promising adept.
Follow the fifth amendment and spread the truth in this den of sinners. For free beer i suggest you brew your own, to begin with. Living in Las Vegas, sex should not be a problem for you. If you do a good job, i'll promote you Grand Vicar of Nevada. If you do reeeaaallly good, i'll give you a 10% share of the benefits (to be used for the Church, of course). You can send all your worldly possessions to: Messiah Flibulzbuth 1, Ten thousand bikinis Beach Paradise Island, Bahamas |
How about this? Instead of "the end is near", try the end has already passed. That's right, folks--the world ended last month, but you're all so uninitiated and blind that you 1) don't notice and 2) don't care! I have the truth! We are all in paradise right now but you cling to the old, material world, thus create your own reality! blah, yak, spiel....

What is so frightening about people speaking their truth the way they see it? Let the fanatics say their peace as it is their place to do so according to their religion. At least they are giving warning rather than threats! They're not bombing our buildings or poisoning our neighbors! Their point is to be ready. Whether or not they have their sources and dates confused shouldn't matter to people who have concern of their place in an afterlife...those people will find their own truth on their own journey and these sites serve as a catapult to get some people off their asses and at the altar. I certainly wouldn't want to be judged for speaking harshly about the fanatics who create these sites as a warning for people to get their souls in order. More people need to care about everyone else and IIRC that was one of the points made was it not? ;) Personally I have my own opinions of what's already happened and what will or may happen concerning "The End Of The World" but I wouldn't sit here and preach it to any of you since we all have our own truths and our own destinies, however if I ever created a website to share it with other Christians and potential Christians, it'd break my heart to see it rejected this way and confirm the hate of man against man that is all so prevalent in our society already. Peace |
Is it a warning? It seems like they are saying the victims of 9-11 had it coming because they are sinners.
|
Not all of the "victims" of 9-11 are now dead people...this whole country suffered as did others around the world...they are saying that America is a target for God's wrath and why shouldn't they if that's what they believe? All throughout my childhood I had been preached to that New York City (as the sin capital of this country) would be the first to sufffer the wrath of God by falling into the Atlantic. Now would it be coarse of me to say better a few buildings than the whole city or to say that I see it as an act of terrorism by Muslims against the capitalist freedom that America stands for?
Would it matter now? |

Well spoken, Moni.
I agree that the site was pretty much "over-the-top" on the doomsday scale, but the Bible does instruct us on the signs of the End Times, and there are many events occurring today that could easily fit the definition of those signs. She believes the Horsemen were "set loose in 1999" - I would like to know what event she was actually referring to, but she never mentions that. The other thing that REALLY bothered me about this thread was the very first Response. Sazerac, I was extremely disappointed to see you refer to this person as "a nutcase". That set the tone for others to do the same thing. The ideas on the site may be extreme, but they are founded in the same religion that I follow, and I agree with the general message overall. How would you feel if I had called the Wiccans who tried to "sacrifice" a ceremonial chocolate bunny in a fondue pot a "bunch of nutcases". I disagree with their religion and did find that particular point to be a bit silly, but I still defended their right to conduct their ceremony as they saw fit and spoke out against the actions of the Christians that disrupted the ceremony. See this thread for details - Pagan group seeks hate crime against Christians As an IW member, you have a right to express your opinion as you see fit; but as a Moderator, you have to be careful about how you say it. It's far too easy for other members to take the words of a Moderator as implied consent to ridicule a specific group or belief system. |
No matter how you wrap it up.
Complete and utter nutcase! |
Cerek, Mods can post personal opinions and they aren't necessarily indicative of the administrations standpoint or official IW policy unless that is mentioned in the post.
As a Christian, I deplore extremist stuff like this. The so called 'signs' are frequently used to fire up people and create panic. But if we listen to the words of Christ, we cannot, and will not, know when he is to come again. He will come 'as a thief in the night', in other words, he isn't going to ring us up and announce his schedule! So I don't pay much attention to 'end of the world' scenarios claiming to be bible-based or Christian. I think alot of people forget that this sort of thing has been going on for decades. There's always someone or some group claiming NOW is the end time. I remember my priest mentioned one group that actually stripped naked, climbed a mountain and sat around at the end of a year convinced they'd be involved in the Rapture because all the 'end' signs were there. As I recall, they were mighty embarassed and very quiet then next day as the world continued and Christ didn't come for them. Cerek, I'm afraid I might have used the term 'nutcase' at one point or another, myself, but 'extremist' works just as well. The point I'd make is that anyone can take bible verse and shift/maneuver it to mean things it was never intended to mean, so when someone purports to be 'bible based' in their extremism, I don't credit them with any more 'veracity' or reliability than the guy waving leaflets in the street and telling me my dog wants to take over the world. ;)
I've dealt with so-called Christians who were actually a cult and they sure used this 'end signs' stuff (and other 'bible' readings) to death over the years in order to drag good people away from family and friends and demand money or other material gains. In fact, my own mother got hooked up with one of those groups when I was a teen. Believe me, I've seen literalist-chaos rein and families torn assunder by such drivel and I have no intention of just accepting things as Christian if they ignore basic precepts of Christianity, in this case, Christ's own words when asked when he and the Kingdom of God would return. He told of the thief in the night and I for one, simply pray every day that I'm worthy when that time comes, whenever it is. Sorry for the diatribe, but this is a soap box issue of mine. Guess I should learn to just ignore these things some day! Cloudy PS, I have stayed out of that last series of religious debates, as I'd been in my fair share over the last few months and I agree with you, sometimes it seems that bashing Christians is sport with renewed interest. Doesn't make me stop believing one whit, nor lessen my faith, but it does get my blood pressure up sometimes! edit: Also, I feel I should point out that Sazerac is a very faithful Christian, so I doubt his goal was ever to get others to poke fun at Christianity, merely to note his dislike of such things as this thread brought up- extremist stuff with little or no validity. I stand duly corrected.
Sazerac has made statements in the past that led me to believe he was either agnostic or followed a pagan religion. Not that it matters, I wouldn't think less of his opinion if that were the case. I guess I just over-reacted to someone I thought was a non-Christian calling the lady a "nutcase". Don't really know why, but it just hit me the wrong way when I saw it. Anyway, I apologize in advance to Sazerac. (who hasn't been Online to see this thread yet). I over-reacted to his statement and I was wrong to do so. |

I'd have to say it's good that Saz's beliefs weren't readily apparent, it means he's been a neutral and good mod, then. ;) I won't go further because it is most assuredly NOT my place to discuss someone elses beliefs when they aren't even present, but he's a friend and I thought maybe you'd misconstrued that one point.
