A Window will pop up, click 'yes' (It's allowing you to download the JAVA script to run the Chat program).

And Enter Your name and click 'connect'.

SOON, this Chat program will be integrated into the Forum, and you will be able to use your SCREEN NAME as your logon name and password. So no fake users. but for now, it's not like that.

Try it out, I'll let it run all day today unless their are problems, and give me feedback HERE after you have tried it!! :D

PS: If you click on a users name IN the chatroom, you can chat privately as well. (Like Instant Messenger).

Are you using Netscape? Try IE 5.5 or higher. If you ARE, did you mess with any settings?

I figured it out--I needed to change servers..

NOW-- there will be a 'choice' of 'servers' to choose from, pick the closest to where you live. if that doesn't work, try ALL of them.

I chose 'Atlanta' as mine.

(the 'servers' are the 'undernet' ones).

PS: You won't be able to use Chat behind a Firewall.. I just read that in the doc's... :(

This Chatroom is just a webwindow mIRC client sorta.. So everything related to ports is handled 3rd party (whoever runs the irc server at undernet).. It says in the readme.txt that it doesn't work behind Firewalls, because the client doesn't handle Proxy settings.

Almost everything worked for me, except the UK server didn't work, but it automtically sent me to the Dallas one.
The atlanta one seems to be fastest for me.

It worked fine for me - in the UK joining the atlanta server. Bit quiet though. Ill try back later.

Jo had it working fine on her system this morning, using IE 5.1 for Mac.
I'm using Omniweb 4.1 beta now, and it's also working fine...

Thats not a pic, its a java applet and took about 20 mins to download. But then I was doing a huge download at the time, so it should be quicker for you.
