60% of Canadians say that America is their friend.
48% of Americans say Britain is their friend.
15% of Americans say Canada is their friend.

In retrospective, why would they like Britain more than Canada, (no offense Britains!) speaking back to the American Revolution. This what my social teacher says anyways!

TheThing 05-10-2002 11:15 PM

because american kicked british ass, and now one is the other's bitch. it is a reflection of american unresolved control issue

ok, that was a cynic statement, but it is a joke *dry laugh*

Azred 05-10-2002 11:19 PM

The vast majority of Americans don't know even the most basic facts about Canada, except that some hockey players have come from there. Some of them couldn't even point to Canada on a globe...

caleb 05-11-2002 12:01 AM

Probably because the UK offers us more military help.

I was visiting the states one time with a friend and we got into a conversation with someone and mentioned we were from Canada. The guy looked at us blankly for a second and then said "oh, Canada... That's the place above us right?" My friend rolled his eyes and said "yes, in more ways than one..."

Yup I guessed you wear from Montreal before I looked at yourl ocation ;)

I know where Canada is, there capitol is Ottawa, There west most province is the Yukon terrotory, there east most is New Foundland, there largest in size is Montreal. There flag consist of a Red line, then white, then red again, with a red maple leaf in the middle. The Mapple leaf is the national sign of Canada, there PM is Jean Cretin.

Hmm what else do I know about Canada, I heard that Toronto is the most internation city in Canada.

Oh and Eric Lindros if from Ontario and thats a big minus ;)

I consider both countrys (Canada and Britan) to be friends as far as goverments go.

Now lets reverse is, how much to you know about America? Really how much?

Glorfindel 05-11-2002 01:19 AM

Capital is Washington District Columbia
Their largest city is New York
Their largest state is Texas
this is where president Bush comes from
"East" and "west" America are divided somewhere along the line of Saint Louis
The largest river was the Mississippi which nobody seems to be able to spell
BUT that river due to extencive damming no longer ends in sea but ends somewhere in the mexican desert
their flag has 7 red and 6 white striped which stands for the original 13 states and in the left upper corner a blue space with 50 stars which stands for the current 50 states
last state to join the United States was Hawaii

Uh, no. Texas is the 2nd largest state, in both size and population. California is way ahead of it in terms of population, and Alaska's quite a bit bigger.

Horatio 05-11-2002 09:56 AM

Why are you bothering with this, guys? I bet at least one of you has a WORLD MAP book open in front of you, ready to pound someone into submission beneath your geographical onslaught.
Yep, Litchenstien capitol is Vaduz or somthing simlar. And no, quite frankly I no pretty much nothing about the Netherlands.

Well beside they claim to be the most progressive country in the world. I dont have the facts with me so they may be. But I have never been proved to it was. And they are mostley Liberal.

And for the record Litchenstien is in middle eroupe I belive. As someone pointed out already Alaska is our biggest state, not Texas. Albeit Alaska isnt in the continental US.

Another fact I know about Canada is most of there immigrints are Irish or Scottish. They even have a town caleld New Glasglow in Nova Scotia.

*sigh* There go those stupid people again, America may be a strong nation but its internal-population is mainly made up of dunderheads and screwups...

Krishach 05-11-2002 01:43 PM

That's a strong remark, /)eath. You calling me stupid?

Arnabas 05-11-2002 01:56 PM

Lol
That satire wire story was amusing. People tend to think of Canadians as "quiet, nice people" and underestimate us.

last time i looked, the mississippi emptied into the gulf of mexico.or at least that's what the people around new orleans think.
as for liechtenstein, that's where george patton is buried.big business is banking.
and back to the original point of this thread.the reason most americans don't care for canada is they are too good at hockey. :D or maybe because too many of them speak french. :D

so then the USA is Canada's bitch. which makes sense because we burned down the original whitehouse. although it wasn't white, so i don't know what it was called. anyway Canada is the only country to have ever defeated the USA, in the war of 1812.
