As you can see from my date of membership, I am reasonably new to the forum. I'm sure that over the years there have been some classic moments.
For all the veterans, what do you consider to be the most memorable moments in the history of the IWF??? I will assume that Phil may be one of them! Can I drill you about that? |
Wow...where to start....for me, it was Cloudy and I starting the Saga...Charlie's Shoppe of Shitte was CLASSIC ... a Certain Poster Who Shall Not Be Named Getting His Just Desserts was fun...the Original Evil Smiting thread by Jerome....the House of Spam thread (more than 1000 posts strong)...gosh...someone else? I can't think of any more, but I know there were a ton of good ones...

There is a ton of them..
Rudys Dwarf Throwers Thread. Rikards Bunny Thread and then Wah and Rikards battles, anyone remember that? [ 05-08-2002, 11:41 PM: Message edited by: Grand-Ranger ] |
LORD RAPTOR !!!!!
hehehe a chicken kicking a dragon's tail... Lord Shield, do you still have those screenshots? [ 05-08-2002, 11:54 PM: Message edited by: RudeDawg ] |
How can you forget the FLUFFY WARS?!?!?
Of course - everyone added fluffy to their name, except for the Fluffy Hunters... evil people... and the CONVERTS!! :D |
Oh gee... I forgot one of the most hysterical.... when SlackerBoy got Caleb aka DoughBoy in the oven.... that was the FUNNIEST pic of all time!!
Had to bump that thread... WAY funny..!!! :D [ 05-09-2002, 01:04 AM: Message edited by: Charean ] |
Famous moments ?? Well ofcourse theyre not all good... for me one of the most memorable (and maybe not so happy) was when I was forced to change my name... but its all worked out well since then

So many moments....and thats only the ones after I got here let alone before. Hmmm the Throne Of Scone incident I think was my favourite
The beginning of HADB ;) Sep 11 really changed the face of IW forever, for the good or bad but it changed thats for sure. Rudys Dwarf Throwers thread was a BG2 forum classic, and gets dug up every once in awhile. So many I am forgetting, and some I wish I could forget ;) But on the whole its been great :D |

The first Cloudy cafe, sure some imitations came along in the form of Psycho Butterfly's bar or Gwahanos Tavern in hell but Cloudy's was the first zone where people could get a chance to know one another without spamming other threads.
Charlie's house of shite is a peersonal favourite of mine. And like Azure said the September 11th attacks did change Ironworks for a while, people were more aggresive really an less understanding of people views, and then the Was forum opened which was really just pouring oil on the flames. In theory the forum was a good idea as general discussion got cluttered up with war threads but in practice it became a breeding ground for flaming. Thankfully Ironworks returned to normal and here we are. BTW I also used to like the Lord Shiled bar threads, that was great stuff :D |
I used to lurk in the times of Charlie's Shoppe of Shite (when I wasn't a member yet) and those threads were absolutely classic. Also Lord Shield's bar, PB's bar, and of course Lioness' (pool) parties were also fun - and probably where I made my first thousand posts or so
I loved Rikards' bunny thread too. You clicked on the subject title and all it said was 'Bunny!!!' with several bunny smilies underneath. That thread got hundreds of posts and I'm sure nobody even knows why |
Well, I'm not all that old either, but the things I remember for better or worse are the infamous Brits thread, and the incredibly amusing marriage of Yorick and Silver Cheetah. Whatever did happen to the bride (Neb?...)

The most terrifing thing in that era was the fact that Rikard had a bunny in his sig for ages...that was strange. |

Barry here has also contributed his share of funny IWF moments with his witty jokes. |
And who could forget the day we took the forum hostage, and got Cloudlet to sing for all of us. I still have the .WAV file if anyone wants to listen to a sultry temptress sing "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR PRESIDENT" .

:D :D I also recall the inter-forum pillow fighting and thye fluffy war over Melusine's hamster :D My tavern lasted about a dozen threads too :D . I compiled all the links in one thread on GD a week or so ago so it must be about somewhere (down the back of the sofa maybe) [ 05-09-2002, 08:01 AM: Message edited by: Lord Shield ] |
I remember on the blue board the "Big Fight" between myself, BK, Helfire, Moridin and Grey Mage and some other passers by ;)

I remember tha bunny thread, I was lurking but that thread had me in stitches... (no pun intended... )
|
I'd say the very first RP threads (along with all the clans like the ALSB and the HADB and all the associated buildings and battles and wastelands) that we now owe to having an RP forum.
|
hehehe I always was fond of Istaron LOL
|
Lifetime, the earliest 'rp' threads were probably the Wah, Melusine, Rikard epics (they are hysterical!) and then the 'love story of IW'- the BlackKnight/StormCloud Saga and those were so much fun! We got alot of people involved and just played it up for a while, then BK started doing them as chapters of a story.
Ahh.. the fluffy wars.. LOL ...ACK! :D The thread to name Mel's hamster was pretty funny too! Wow, there ARE alot of great moments, so many it's hard to just name a few! |
Oh yeah that one.. how are her hamsters now.. hmm Mel!
|
Well, when I appeared as Gwhanos, that began the downfall of both that personification of me and some people's sanity..........
|
Aviendha, here is a list of some (not all) of our epic threads here at Ironworks. The list is sadly incomplete I'm afraid - there are just too many epic threads to keep track of! ;)

Hmm, well seeing as I joined in August there wasn't many momentous threads I saw, except when somone dug them up like the dwarven throwers thread (that was great!!! :D )
Hmm, actually now that I think of it, I do remember the wedding thread, unless there was a later different one that I'm thinking about, and when I first joined I briefly skulked about in LS's bar. |
