My reputation is 19 and Edwin wants to leave :( I don't him to, but I also don't want to shoot a commoner, for roleplaying purposes. So what is the best way to lower my rep by, say 2 or 3 points?

Sir Exxon 05-03-2002 05:23 PM

If you havent played though Spellhold, dont read. ;)

The easiest way is to just turn into the slayer. Though this is hard if you dont have the ability...
But except that, killing will be the only real effective way. ;)

Or you could get caught stealing from a shop--try Enge's Shop in Waukeen's Promenade. You'll lose 1 or 2 points, and you'll never be able to buy non-enchanted Maces or Throwing Axes there again. Boo hoo.

Hmmmmmm i think edwin is a loser

In the city you start in, there is an area that is more 'nice' than the others... the name escapes me, but you find Jan Jansen the gnome there... there is also a drow-woman who wants to join your party, and that will lower your rep by 2!

Welcome to Ironworks, by the way.

The safest way to do it is to steal. Go to some nondescript merchant or store or find some commoner (preferably indoors so they don't raise the alarm) that you will never go to again that sells crap anyway (there are a few at Waukeens Promenade). Steal something and then do the bolt. Don't kill them unless you want to drop your rep drastically. ;)

Thanx for the suggestion guys

One question though, If you hire Viconia you lose 2 rep points. But if you drop her again, I don't believe you get the rep points back right? So then if you would hire her again would you again lose 2 rep points? That would be convenient

That is correct. But be careful - if you drop her, or she dies, you might find Edwin doing the bolt when you least want him to. ;)

If it makes you feel better - get a non-good (or a chaotic good) thief to do the pickpocketing. That's in keeping with roleplay.

Ehr ...
I've allways had my 2 rep. points restored once i dropped her ...

That's what I mean - if you drop her or she dies, your rep will go up 2 points, and that might put Edwin past breaking point. You don't want that happening in the Underdark, for example. Bit hard to replace him then. ;)

You can effectively lose 1 rep point in the Valyger Corthala subquest if you haven't done that yet -
provided that you don't mind givin' good old Valyger the sword in the chest, then talk to the Cowled Wizard in the Gov district (Council building). Then go find Valyger in his cabin in Umar Hills, skewer him (in the most polite way possible of course) and bring him back to the Cowled wizards. You get some exp and lose a rep point.
You can still do the Planer Sphere quest with just Valygers body.

another way is in the redshirted Am-Si Tirdir graveyard quest. when you rescue him, and kill Am-Si's employers, you can become Lady Elega's captor. this nets you the Silver Pantaloons, some XP, a fight with Coweled Enforcers and Amnish Legionnaires, and a 2 point rep decrease.

you can also get edwin himself to kill a peasant in an out-of-the-way area. he's CE, so would do it, and it doesn't violate your RP idea. the coolest thing about roleplaying is doing things you shouldn't and still have valid reasons for them. (i.e. LE guy that detests slavery: he "shouldn't," but can have a perfectly good reason for doing so.)

just kill a pedestrian no sense in getting all high and mighty slaughter a few of them just for the heck of it.

You could install the Happy Party Patch from Baldurdash.

A good way to lower your reputation without taking a sword to someone (Directly)is in the underdark, on the second floor of the tavern their is a Drow who makes a slave walk out onto a plank and into lava (from memory), you can give him 1 gold to watch a slave die and in the process lose 1 reputation point and as far as i know you can do this as often as you like.

P.S. If you have Keldorn in your party, watch how many times you do it, it can be disastrous.

if you have ToB installed, that is unnecessary, since it's an automatic happy script anyway. the party members will still bicker, and some of them will kill each other, but they will never leave because of reputation, high or low.

Bahamut 05-09-2002 10:38 AM

Or after doing all those temple quests you can wipe out the entire Jysstev home.. they all piss me off anyway ;)

AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe 05-09-2002 07:16 PM

ohh yeah killing beggars is fun too. just cast a few spells on them and then you get to kill the stupid cowled fools too
