So what is topical today :

Footy season, and in the AFL the mighty Brisbane Lions remain undefeated this season - now up to 20 consecutive wins since round 9 last year. The Bullies flooded massively in an attempt to kill the Brissie juggernaut, but to no avail. I get to see my beloved Lions play next week in Perth - ahh, new victims.

The Broncos are also undefeated, but were very shaky indeed in squeeking past the lowly Panthers. I think they will get moiderated against Newcastle next weekend. On a brighter note - Alfie is a star and legend (still).

Oh, and I sent you an email Aelia :D .

Davros 04-22-2002 05:19 AM

TALKING POINTS:
The Lions have won four games in a row and even the journalists in Perth are writing about how the Lions’ strength should be diluted. Funny how that was never mentioned circa 1992-94 when another ‘interstate’ team was at its feasome best! Subiaco Oval – the Lions are praying no-one strays into ‘Cruciate Corner’, the carnage site of eight knee reconstructions in a season and four rounds.

Downunda 04-22-2002 05:30 AM

Can we also bring up the Super 12 and how well the Crusaders are doing this year? - 'cause they are. :D (they just need a few more bonus points)

Davros 04-22-2002 05:35 AM

:D - There's many a slip, twixt cup (OK - who mentioned the World Cup) and lip ;) . You will have to face of against the Brumbies or the Waratah's in the semi's and finals before you get to claim boasting rights - and the Reds aren't out of the equation just yet.

Donut 04-22-2002 05:35 AM

It's my dog's birthday - she is 9. :D

She can't still be 9 - she was 9 when you last used this line on us 18 months ago. Have you discovered the elixir of life??

On a brighter note -Arsenal return to the top of the Premier league, courtesy of a double from fabulous Freddie - Lundjberg that is :D .

Downunda 04-22-2002 05:52 AM

Who mentioned the cup? - there's no such thing, it got canned, bleh... :D

As for the Reds being in the equation, the Blues still have an outside chance too :yeahrightsmilie: :D
Brumbies, Waratahs, no probs!

When it comes to League, the Warriors are a pretty sad sight after the weekend and the rest are just Aussie teams anyway ;)

Don't follow the EPL too much but the Red Team (Man U is it? - don't shoot me if I'm wrong ) seemed to be doing ok last I saw.

Davros - sorry about spamming your thread with talk of real sport. :D

Talk about a cheap way to get his post count up - a one liner, a smiley, and another one liner (sigh).

That's alright Donut - I confer on you the "Spam spam spam spam eggs chips spam and spam" award - I have it on good authority that Cloudy will drop in soon to make a special presentation to you. The good thing about Brits and spam is that, unlike sport, after you invented it you never got any worse at it ;) . Still, your cricket side now has improved, and there are now a few sides between your guys and Zimbabwe now aren't there??

Davros steps aside to await the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune :D .

Why don't we talk about how the MIGHTY TAHS are going to FLOG those Cantab sheepshaggers in Round 12 this year. :D

And how about the World Cup being hosted by Aussie! Smackdown! :D

Also that year: Route 66 is officially completed, total distance: 2,448 miles (that's 39 million cans of SPAM laid end-to-end!) ;)

i would love to comment on this thread but ive been invaded, just like everyone else here in spain, by the barcelona-real madrid frenzy!!! :D

Davros 04-22-2002 05:51 PM

Gunners rule - but I am hoping Barca win that one (hey - we'll let someone else win some silverware - just hope it isn't the Red Devils ).

In over your head were you Lanesra :D .

Aelia Jusa 04-22-2002 06:00 PM

Go the Lions! Two more wins and then we can watch them get the record! I know, they like us to be in the competition, but only if a Melbourne club wins. We're just the token non-Victorians. That was a shocker by the Broncos - Wayne was not impressed. I'm surprised he hasn't declared a moratorium on the media though, he's been far too agreeable this year ;) . And the Strikers, well elimination final wasn't too bad I guess :(

Happy birthday Donut's dog! :D :p

Did you see I replied to your email Davros? I'm a good girl I am ;)

Cloudbringer 04-22-2002 08:22 PM

Ok.. my burning question of the month.. is tiddly winks a real sport? I mean is wrist action an olympic skill? ;) :D

Welcome back to the revival of our thread Aelia - Yes, you are a very good girl (was that what I was supposed to say ;) ). I see Phil Matera got rubbed out by the judiciary for "pushin the umpy" - after the week before against Collingwood I was not surprised he got rubbed out this time.

Wayne has declared us to be "NO CHANCE" against Newcastle :D - I think they will be up against it, but Gordo is pumped. I think Petro will get a week or two's holiday however for the high tackle charge :( .

Donut's Dog - Lanesra, does your brother Donut actually have a dog - and is it really celebrating a birthday?

Donut 04-23-2002 06:12 AM

Australian Rules Football is a bit of a misnomer really. I mean, I can see that it's Australian and it is some kind of football but where does the word 'rules' come into it? Unless 'rules' is a verb rather than a noun. But then it would be 'Australia rules football' and that just sound reliqourish. ;) So who is this Australian who rules football?

Anyway the Kangaroos were robbed against the Swans on Saturday. Officials thinking they've seen something that never happened. If that was a high tackle then I'm an Aussie. Gutted to lose after the siren.

Never mind I expect them to come back aginst Carlton this weekend.

Davros - please don't talk about me as if I'm not here! I have two dogs - one was 9 yesterday and one was 9 eighteen months ago! :D

Donut ole bean - I never knew you were a Roo-boy :D (Kangaroos supporter). So are you up an all the latest gossip on the Wayne Carey Affair - were you devastated??

I wasn't talking as if you weren't here - I was merely annunciating a request for confirmational elucidation ex your fraternal comrade vis a vis the veracity of your CCC's (canine companion claims).

Aelia Jusa 04-24-2002 03:27 AM

Aussie Rules is a bit of a rabble, really ;) . I used to hate watching it, it seemed so disorganised and they always fumbled the ball. But it grew on me . LOL Wayne Carey - breaking news! He and Sally were spotted at a footy match in their car! Woah :D . Every aspect of Waynegate thrills me ;)

Davros 04-24-2002 04:52 AM

And the big announcement breaking today is that Wayne will resume his football career. He is back in training, and scheduled to play on Saturday with the North Wagga Saints. Donut will be so pleased - maybe he will make it back to the Roos first team after all.

Davros 04-24-2002 05:15 AM

Can we get their two birthdays noted down on Reeka's official list - I think the whole forum needs to keep a track of this very important information. We can have a huge party next time :D .

Cloudbringer 04-24-2002 10:15 AM

Yes! DO find out their birthdays for us! I want to bake a cake. :D

Not much happening in Aussie sport in the last 24 hours, but today we have the ANZAC day blockbuster. Already sold out - 95,000 crowd expected at the MCG for the traditional clash between the Bombers and the Pies.

On a brighter note - Arsenal continued their run to the championship with a contentious win at home to the hapless Hammers. West Ham scored a clear goal in the first half but is was disallowed (ball really had fully crossed the line). What famous Manager in English football said "I don't believe in luck, but I believe you need it to win the championship". :D

10 in a row only 3 more to go

We love you Freddie, because you've got red hair.

We love you freddie, because you really care .

We love you Freddie, you're Arsenal through and through

(To the tune of Andy Williams "Cant take my eyes off of you")

To those who don't know what I'm talking about, as big Frank once said....Thats life..

Last I heard he was in Las Vegas and was heading for a trial with the Dallas Cowboys. I kid you not!

Memnoch 04-25-2002 07:07 AM

Go the MIGHTY MIGHTY Waratahs this weekend. If they beat the Wellington Hurricanes they will just about have a home semifinal. Expecting another 40,000 at the game.

So who do the Gunners have to play before the showdown against Manx U - would like to see us sew things up before that final game.
