Searching for BG2 help when the Universal Hint Systems usefullness expired. Didnt sign up imediatly though... thought you needed an ICQ#, AIM ID and all of that :D :D

Bah! I found this place by doing a search for the original Baulders Gate, before they even thought to make BGII! [ 04-16-2002, 11:56 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |
I'm an odd-ball!
I was looking up Wizards & Warriors help and couldn't find the answer to one specific problem. I thought I was going to have one or two posts and then leave.... I look back almost a year now and I realize I was a LITTLE wrong, spreading myself to more games and more forums and of course GD, even though I did have a few months of no posting... I was lurking about however! -Jafin |
I found Ironworks thru a friend as I was looking for portraits to use with BG 1. I found Ironworks 2 years ago. I lurked for the first year under a different account and ended up loosing the log-in details and signed up under my current name.

I was looking for some BG portraits, and here I show up at this message board. I used to be a rabid poster on the "BG Dungeon" message boards before they took those down (anyone here been to those?), so I was kind of half-looking for a decent Baldur's Gate message board, especially since I'm getting the game back in a matter of days.
|
if i recall correctly, the exact thing i typed into the search bar was 'baldurs gate help', that was like 2 years ago. Didnt become part of the forum until like, december or sumthin, wish i'da joined earlier! :D

I was searching for help on BGII when I found the Ironworks main website. I discovered the forum a little after that, and lurked for a couple of months before signing up - this was in the days of the old blueboard, so I am officially an IW oldie ;)
Found it to be an incredibly friendly place, which is why I stayed. It was my first experience of internet fora, and a very positive one. I've made some good friends here, and... well... found a little more than friendship too ;) Thank you Ironworks! :D ;) [ 04-17-2002, 05:34 AM: Message edited by: Epona ] |
How did I find this place? I found it quite brown... maybe too brown. Brown, brown! Eeeek- more brown.
Yes, I found this place brown. Keep saying the word "brown" a lot to yourself outloud. It'll drive you completely mad. |
My Freind, RedBlueFlare, showed it to me and told me to just come here.... before this place i went to a board dedicated to a single RPG, i had 3000 posts on it and was kind of connected, but then i realized that nobody on there really even gave a damn about anyone else but themselves so I left... + The mods wanted me dead and I still dont know why...

However brown makes IW unique and outstanding, not flashy, it makes the forum feel safe, honest and down to EARTH which it is |
I joined the blue board at the start of November 2000, a month after BG2 came out, looking for some help. I was a quiet little newbie at first but I got talkative.pretty quickly. :D

I had just started BGII and Anomen had started acting up, so I started looking for why. UHS was useless, as usual, and IW popped up on my AOL search. I couldn't find what I was looking for, saw there was a forum, so I went to the BGII forum and, sure enough, there was someone else having the same problem! So, after lurking a little while, Attalus saw a question that he wanted to respond to, I registered, and the rest is history.

Other - I found Ironworks thru the search browser looking for help with Wizards & Warriors program I got for myself for my birthday... and that was long time ago

heh, i just found this by accident while finding bg2 help... (and bg1 also) . after such a long time... its still here
|
I found it looking for another BG forum after BGDungeon and its forums closed ( :( )... *shrug* Lucky I found IW...

Well I was looking for something about BG2... I can't recall... I just ended up on the Big Blue and well, I wanted to post something.. and then peeps replied quickly.. including Mem ;) and after that I kept coming back for more BG2 stuff.. then after a while, peeps seem to drift away from it... and then we would be spamming the whole place already (since most of everything we were talking about was not BG2)... that was the time I just couldn't leave the board... damn board

If I remember correctly, I did a links search like Epona back when BG Dungeon and BG Dungeon Tavern was KOH. Found some great help topics at the IW main site and decided to check out the board. It was "Blue" back then and very simple. BG Dungeon Tavern was a 'mad house' of good imfo mixed with 'mega flaming' and 'major trolling' while IW "Ole Blue" was very helpful and refreshing, a small board back then by comparison, only about 50 of us who posted regularly in those days, but we really bonded. Flaming and trolling was not tolerated. BG Dungeon Tavern went the way of the 'dinosaur' and IW, thanks to our great Webmaster Z-man, mighty Mem and our other great mods and the good people who keep joining up, IW stands the test of BG time where all other sites have failed. . Gosh, getting all sentimental. . *sniffle* . . Quite a few of us have been able to witness IW evolution from the early days. It really is quite a moving experience. *sniff*.. .

What were they saying about the site-- that is so cool, to hear about people talking about my site, it's cool to know that so many people have enjoyed what I've done. It's weird, all these other sites that are gone, and we were up before them even! It's been hard to keep the site going (With all the host problems in the past year) but damn it, I busted ass with the help you guys and we are still here! In 2004, it will be our 10th year online!! (this is before I owned a domain name too, it was something like www.aisnet.net/~ziroc or something, and all I had was 3D modeling stuff at the time). it doesn't seem like it's been that long, but man... we survived the 'DOT GONE' era too. And I don't hardly have any ad's running--I'm lucky that I have a friend that runs an ISP, or none of this would have happened. |
i got kinda stuck in soa and went looking for tips and hints
thus i ended up here (great forum by the way) |
the star trek convention was in a hotel in the cleveland, oh
area, around..1997. they wer talking of varios treki sites are from florida? or are you a trans plant. you know that a lot of your retirement foks are ohioans. |
