Really? Then why do you find this funny? Why have you created a joke out sexual preference?

caleb 04-16-2002 10:52 AM

Oh just to see if you will jump on my ass about another comment not directed at you of course because as we know the world revolves around you.

This Has less to do with the preference itself then the fact caleb is saying something that obviously isn't true about Azure
A bit of provoking amongst friends ain't that bad

Not directed at me? You came close to insulting my sister-in-law in another thread, and in this one insult good friends of mine. Using their sexual preference as a way to ridicule a friend of yours.

Yorick. RELAX. Stop freaking out over every single little joke just because it isn't 100% "politically correct".

Who Cares, the only real insult there is that puts Azure in the same company as...

Rosie ODonnel

what a truly horrible thing to do to someone.

Actually alot of gay people refer to straight people as "breeders" in a insulting manner.

Cloudbringer 04-16-2002 11:23 AM

Ok, I know it was meant as a joke with a pal, but I do have to say that regardless of who is or isn't insulted specifically, some of the subject matter/vocabulary in the link is inappropriate to Ironworks.

Neb, they're at peoples expense. There are overweight people on the board who may well have been hurt by your equating fatness with "other extreme ugliness" for example. ;)

I love humor. Donut and I are always exchanging gags. Not all humor has to be at anothers expense.

However if that person is an idiot, and reinforce the notion with idiotic behaviour, then it's open season isn't it.... :D :D :D

Hope you're well anyhow Neb. How's Denmark treating you?

How many homosexual people do you actually know Caleb?
Or is that another joke from 'The Man show'? :D

Yorick 04-16-2002 11:35 AM

Neb, I gave you a rope and you've hung yourself with it. Erase that last post mate, it'll just makes things worse.

Sorry to hear Denmark sucks. :( I liked Copenhagen

Exactly! just like you for instance! it amazes me how much times you can use that sarcasm and wink about the man show not being real when it in fact is, CONGRATS!

AzureWolf 04-16-2002 11:41 AM

Thanks for the support Yorick :D
nice to know our past arguments were not a permanent thing.
But this is the kind of thing I can always expect from the pasty dough boy so its no offence ;)

Caleb, at the risk of stating the obvious, I never suggested that the show wasn't real. I don't know how you read that.

I'm having a go at your defense argument. ;)

caleb 04-16-2002 11:56 AM

Well if you are implying that the show is real but I did not use a quote and was just trying to cover my ass then watch a repeat of it sometime.....if you can handle it without getting offended. It is during the questions from the audience segment and it is adam corrolla who says it.

Yorick, I will speak my opinions when I want to. But I do realize that that post was a bit insulting. But to clarify, I do NOT dislike fat or overweight people. Beyond a certain limit, there is some point where it just gets on my nerves that people let themselves become that huge. Sorry, that's my opinion, if you don't like it you can just leave. Noone's stopping you.
Neb, I didn't say it offended me. I'm not overweight. I said it may have hurt people on the board. Just be mindful of that. Yes it was pretty insulting, and I'd hate to have others leave as a result.

More importantly I'd hate their own self esteem to be damaged. Some of the most wonderful, friendly, funloving people are included in your broad brushstrokes Neb. Hopefully it'll be like water off a ducks back for them though.

I try and act as though those I'm speaking to are in the room with me. Would you really speak your mind so openly if a girl who fit your description was present? What if she ran from the room in tears? How would that make you feel?

Even better what if it were you? Would you want someone saying similar things about you.

"I don't mind Northern Europeans, I'm a little Teutonic myself. What I really can't stand is those inbred Lego-loving Danes. They're so emotionally repressed... oh I'm sorry it's just my opinion"

This is just an example of course, but how would it feel?

Anyhow, no worries. Have a good afternoon/evening mate.

Caleb...... I don't care.

You dont care because it finally proves you wrong? you seemed pretty interested when you thought you had a case.

Am I going crazy here?

Caleb, I don't care who said what on any television show! You made an inappropriate comment at a bad time! Who cares where you saw it or heard it! That's not the point!

Humor involves context, timing, and a common point of reference. It was obvious from your later posts that though you claimed "only joking" it was a serious opinion you held. So there was no joke!

Sheesh!

caleb 04-16-2002 12:26 PM

The joke was your best friend should not be handling your penis. My OPINION (which is protected in my country I dont know about yours) was that most people do not marry their BEST friend.

Cloudbringer 04-16-2002 12:31 PM

I dunno, Caleb. Maybe we just know a lot of different people, but as far as I am aware, most married folk consider their spouses to be their 'best friends'.

Bahamut 04-16-2002 12:39 PM

Hi Yorick! Hey man how are things going?

Hi y'all!

Anyways, I wouldn't be wanting to comment on this arguement...

Caleb. Have you ever been married?
Leonis is. He was speaking from personal experience. I was. Many of my good friends are.

How are you reaching your conclusion? From a show? From a distorted view of friendship or marriage? Why don't you define friendship? Why don't you define marriage?

Is it only about the sex Caleb? Is that all spouses are for in your book? They're not there to hang out with, talk to about inner feelings or simply how the day went? They're not their to share an experience, create or play a game together, have a drink together, see a movie, have a holiday, stand by you in a hospital?

What the hell do you think a spouse is? What do you think a friendship is?

How old are you?

Exactly.

Life-partner
Favorite person
Best friend
Soul mate
Spouse

The person you share your life with on the most intimate levels. The person who knows you more than any other, The one who you know more than any other.

Love

Cloudbringer 04-16-2002 12:48 PM

Well, Yorick, that's how I always thought of marriage and a spouse. It's how all my married friends are. Not that they dont' have OTHER good friends but they consider each other their closest friend. :D

Good on you mate Music is a great great thing to get involved in. A wonderful social connector as well.

Exactly. It's not like one can't love their 'other friends' either. It's just a different love than that between spouses.
