i would have to say Dad's or A&W from my experiences.

why is ginger-ale so much better?

Schell's Brewery in New Ulm, Minnesota makes a root beer from a recipe they found in a cave on their property. The recipe dates from 1909, so they call it "1909 Root Beer". You can get it in various locations around Minnesota in gallon plastic jugs. It's the best.

But I still like A&W for nostalgia; when I was a kid we'd pull into the A&W in Muskegon, MI and order from the car, and they'd bring the food out on trays and hang them on the car windows. Hmmm, doesn't seem like it was THAT long ago. . .

Gotta go with the plurality here, IBC is the best root beer (and creme soda) that I ever wrapped my tonsils around.

Yes! A topic right up my alley!!! I consider myself a rootbeer addict. If I don't have a glass/can every day, then I feel like there's something seriously missing in my life.

Fav: Barq's
Old-school Fav: A&W
To get at a restaraunt Fav: IBC
Kind-of Obscure Fav: Sioux City Birch Beer
Harder-to-find Obscure Fav: Dad's
LEAST Fav: Mug... aftertaste is like I put wallpaper paste in my mouth...

A&W Draft. There's not too many A&W resteraunts left where I live, but there IS one in Cortland NY and the Root beer you get there is second to none.

And I don't care for the A&W you get at the store.

We have an A&W near my hometown in PA! yumm rootbeer floats :D But rootbeer can not hold a candle to Pennsylvania Dutch Birchbeer...that stuff is AWESOME!

A&W on tap is 200% better then the one in the can and if I can get only bottled rootbeer I buy IBC. ANd the Germans don't have rootbeer  I have to smuggle it back everytime I visit the states .
