Some of you know that I am playing PS:T for the first time. I have just acquired Annah, (and a great NPC she is, too) but got to wondering about her accent. Now, I had assumed that it was Scottish, but Attalus says Yorkshire. Who's right? I know you Brits can read more into an accent than we Texans.

Beaumanoir 04-03-2002 02:54 PM

Oh My God You're From Texas!? I Never Knew!!!
*Tries To Fit In*

"Umm..." *Ahem* "Yeeeehah! Ride 'Em Cowboy! Time To Go Cattle Rustlin' So Ah Can Git Back To Ma 'n Pa For A Deeelumptios Steak!! Mmmmmmmmum"

Azred 04-03-2002 03:04 PM

I'm not sure what late-night cheap movie you might have been watching, but I live in Texas and know no one who speaks in such a manner. :D On the phone, 99% of people with whom I speak would never guess that I am from Texas based on my accent. Anyway....you forgot to include "y'all" in that sentence. :D

Micah recently sent me the Annah voice-pack for use on Sunday mornings but I haven't listened to it yet. I'll do it when I get home today and try to place it; perhaps I'll even get close to the correct regional dialect/accent.

Beaumanoir 04-03-2002 03:07 PM

Sarry Y'all, Dinnae Mean Ta Offend!

fable 04-03-2002 03:31 PM

Scottish. At least that's part of the bio for Sheena Easton, who did the voice.

Jerome 04-03-2002 04:10 PM

It's Scottish!

Though she dosen't ever say "ach" as for as I'm aware, just the occasional "aye". ;)

Beaumanoir 04-03-2002 04:12 PM

WHAT! A Scotts Person Who Dosent Say Ach!? Thats A Down Right Sin! Kill Her!!

She's not actually Scots. Though what Tiefling is doing with a Scots accent is beyond me... ;)

Talthyr Malkaviel 04-03-2002 04:34 PM

Oh yeah, decipher this accent.
I (pronounced 'oi') am a far-mur, and I owns a gurt big farm, in those hills over thar.
Who (oo) wants a pint (pronounced 'point')??

Sheena Easton did her voice? Get out! The things that you learn if you just ask. (Smacks Binky) Where did you think that thing in my sig meant?

Hayashi 04-03-2002 08:17 PM

It's true. Sheena Easton *did* do the voice acting as Annah in PS:T

Galadria 04-03-2002 10:01 PM

LOL, she just said, "D'yeh like my wee tail? I'll wag it for yeh." or words to that effect.

Prehaps there is a portal in Scotland that leads to Sigil lol.

Sounds very familiar, but I'm Dutch, so I probably heard someone talking that way in a tv-series or movie or something. It's not a Dutchie trying to speak English, that's for sure.

Donut 04-04-2002 07:21 AM

Are you sure she's not Australian? :D

Personally, I never wear a skirt on a cold day, especially not a short one!

Galadria 04-04-2002 07:55 AM

Ooh, that would be like a mini with a thong.

J'aran 04-04-2002 08:05 AM

LOL, this reminds me of a commercial for a brand of whiskey that's currently running on Dutch tv. Two football teams, one apparently Scottish (they're dressed in kilts only) and the other from some island in the Pacific I guess, Fiji or something. The Fijians are trying to make the Scots nervous by performing some sort of war-dance, with all kinds of threatening stances, expressions and noises. The Scots just stand there, unimpressed, and when the Fijians are done, they just lift up their kilts. :D William Lawsons. No rules, great Scotch.

Smeagol II 04-04-2002 02:40 PM

Talthyr is that Irish?

Jerome 04-04-2002 02:44 PM

There's nothing wrong with kilts.

And they're the most masculine item of clothing avaliable today.
