Should I add a Might and Magic Forum?

Lavindathar 04-02-2002 04:27 PM

I've never played it myself, but heard alot of people talk about it...enough to warrant a forum...

and what harm can it do except make the IW better?

Grojlach 04-02-2002 04:29 PM

Ziroc, is that Might & Magic only or will it include Heroes of Might & Magic as well? HOMM4 got released one of these weeks, IIRC, and I'll have to confess I'm not as interested in the Might & Magic game as such, while I'm a great fan of the Heroes of Might & Magic series.
Even though I'm not sure if there's much about Heroes to discuss in a message board form, though... Most of it will be players looking for other players to play games with I think. ;)

, the last MM game I played to completion was Might and Magic 3. :D Speaking of 'Magic' named games, anyone ever play Magic Candle? I thought that was a cool game.

There already is a place for this form. Look at http://www.3do.com/community/index.html .They are already covering both HOMMIV and MMIX. For any one who cares the games are out.

Sure, you're right, I know of that place. But there are other Baldurs Gate boards around as well, including the official ones hosted by the companies who released it. But that shouldn't hold Ziroc from adding a special forum for it over here, I'd say.

Ziroc, you surprise me...we've already had this discussion. YES!!! You should add a M&M forum!

Nydlari 04-02-2002 07:28 PM

I want to change my vote, I said yes before I got the game. Now that I've played it for a while, I'd have to say it has absolutely nooooo place on an RPG site, cause this one isn't an RPG. They've made the complete cross-over to FPS and it sucks. The game consists of aiming the mouse and clicking the left button as fast as possible. There is no need to discuss that.

Unless you hold heated debates over what angle and position to hold the index finger in while clicking, or indeed, whether to use the index finger or a different one.
Sorry, couldn't help myself there :D

Actualy, this could become a really helpful topic. When I was lost in Wiz8, I'd play for so long my wrist would start getting sore. I nice discusion on proper use of the mouse to avoid injury is just what this board needs.

Cloudbringer 04-02-2002 08:14 PM

Good question! I said yes, as it seems there's lots of interest, but haven't played in a while, either.

Sir Exxon 04-03-2002 10:28 AM

I say make it a part of the Misc RPGs.
Cause I've played it, and IMO, and aint as good as the other big RPGs, like Baldur's Gate 2 and stuff. ;)

Yes, excellent series. Every now and then I've run into the Ali Atabek, the developer (who worked for Interplay for a number of years, after his company, Mindscape, folded). I asked him once if he ever planned on relaunching the series, and he thought it was a good idea. But I never heard anything else on the matter. Presumably Fargo killed it.

MagiK 04-03-2002 01:40 PM

I too Vote for a combined MIGHT & MAGIC and Heroes of Might and Magic forum now all I have to do is find some time to go to work, go to school, see my girl friend AND play M&M9, HoMM4, Freedom Force, Dungeon Seige, and Wiz 8 not to mention Morrowwind and NWN when they come out.....

K T Ong 04-03-2002 11:04 PM

Yes, please, let's have a Might & Magic forum.

Glorfindel 04-04-2002 06:32 AM

I think it would b good as part of the Misc. section

Was a decision ever made about adding a M&M 9 Forum here at Ironworks?

LennonCook 04-27-2002 10:20 PM

*enthusiastic voice* Why not ??

Cienna 04-27-2002 11:16 PM

heh, I got mm7 from the toy store for $9 ages ago... and after a few hours of dying I finally realized how to equip weapons... And that just made so much of a difference!

Ladyzekke 04-27-2002 11:32 PM

I've only played M&M once, and it was No. 7. Was really hard, and extremely complicated too. I think the fact that I had not played the earlier versions also made things more difficult for me. I remember printing out a walkthrough of it (this was three years ago btw) it was half a ream of paper! So, YES, in my opinion, a Might and Magic forum would be very helpful. There are many different strategies and aspects of the game that could be conversed about, and many situations/battles are hard to figure out and get through, so it would be nice to have a place to go to talk to others and possibly get help re that. I gave up pretty early on in M&M7, but if I had a place with people I could talk to that might be able to help me, maybe I would have continued playing and not given up, which is what I did. So obviously my vote on this poll was Yes

Ziroc 04-28-2002 02:36 AM

I'll make it part of the 'Misc RPG Games' Since I Don't have a webarea for it, a forum dedicated to it wouldn't get much traffic.

I'm opening the Misc forum in a week, gotta finish getting the Dungeon Siege and Morrowind webareas up. ACK!
