for me my sig is useful, when scrolling down in a very long thread and i see my sig, i know that i have replied on the thread and it kind of my Signature in IW (duh?) right? :D :D :D

Sigs could help people in their struggle to distinguish certain members a bit, it gives a member a 'deeper' identity. Of course it only works if people don't all use the same picture in their signatures... I recall from the BGDungeon period we suddenly had 6 or 7 people who got the exactly same picture of Drizzt in their sig, and many people replied to a certain person while thinking it was someone else because they thought they automatically identified that person because of that signature. ;)

I am not a big fan of Sigs. I dont mind a few words, but people who use big massive sigs and animated sigs(No offense, Curian) annoy me as they slow down the thread Tremendously, I get really annoyed when the thread comes to a stand still because of them.

I dont mind all of them just the really big ones, why cant people decrease the size of there pictures.

I'll stick with Grojlach's explanation and in the mean while, use this thread for a minor sig test.

Doesn't work, weird. I can use this picture just fine on other boards.

I have just got a pic from the Beautiful Freak album by the Eels, because I like the album a lot and the pic is quite good. I am changing the writing every week, a different phrase each time. All from the same album, mostly summing up my views on life. Thats why I use it really, an expression. And because I like the look of it. Also I think Sir Curian has a point about being able to spot your own posts, you can tell if you have already posted something at a quick glance when you look in a thread.

Well, I'll have to go with Barry on this, I like my pic, and also, as Curian says, you can spot your posts easier [img]smile.gif[/img]

- Easy to see when scrolling down messages
- Cool to have something that people can 'notice' you, so it kinda becomes a trademark.</font>

Well, I think sigs are very cool and I do like being able to tell at a glance who has posted. We once posted who we thought had the strangest, prettiest, creepiest, etc. sigs. We don't seem to have a prob here with people using the same pic. I have never seen my sig (I use the avatar on other sites) used anywhere else. BTW a friend made it for me.

I don't know about anyone else butI use my sig because I like the picture, and works with one I used to have but lost.
Oh and becaue it contains a hidden message that is slowly turning everyone in to my slaves.

Well I saw all the nice pics and wanted to make one myself... it's not very important, but it's easy to scroll down to it and start reading from were you replied

I use a sig so I can scroll down the page and stop when I get to my post, and read the posts which follow. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Another reason (as many people have said in earlier posts) is that you can recognise other IW members without looking at their names. [img]smile.gif[/img]

All you need to do is find a post: That Goes Like This, Dont Cha Know :D

To be honest, I've never given thought to having a sig--on some boards, you're told very strictly that sigs slow down loading time, and it's verboten. But with all the attractive sigs here, I've been given it a lot of thought. Unfortunately, I've no skill at designing these things; so, for now, at least, I must needs remain sig-less. ;)

Also I try and be funny with them.
Furthermore it's a way of recognizing my own posts, without the custom avatar and user text thing.

I use my signature because I like the image, and the spinning stars that I found here.
And it also helps me find my own posts easy.

PS. Wow, you guys all have incredibly good-looking sigs!
