Thought some of you may be interested in this...it's a Macromedia Flash site that lets you generate your PC's (or NPC's) full body pics. You get to choose several different expressions, hair styles, clothing and armor, weapons, shields, and/or spell effects. The colors are kind of cheesy, but you can do the pics in B&W and download them and colorize them elsewhere, like Paint Shop Pro or MS Paint. These are great for character sheets for both table-top games and CRPG's.
Anyway, the site is called Heromachine, and it's free. I think they'll be adding more options later. If you want to check out a few, I created a few of them on the fly just to see how they looked. They're a bit big, so I have them as links rather than as inline pictures here. Fighter Wizard Bard Assassin Thief Have fun! |
Downloading it even now. I am always looking for a faster easier way to get character drawings done, since I am the one usually asked. Thanks for the link and I plan on giving it a good work out.

Wow, Saz, that pretty cool. Thanks!
|
Awesome site Saz!!!
|
Wow, that's one cool program! Exactly what I need.
|
Hehe, nifty one, though I have to grumblingly admit I missed a couple of things, but a great way to export and open to Illustrator! :D
Thanks for the link Saz! :D |
Yes, it's pretty neat...only thing is, they don't have dwarf or halfling mods there yet, but you can do humans and elves. Since it seems to be a new site, they're probably in the testing phase, and will probably add those later. It looks like they'll have a lot more spaces to add new mods as they continue.
Cheers, -Saz |
Awesome site, Saz!

Hmm could come in useful....thanks Saz

No red..
weird.. Great site |
Hey, wouldn't it be cool to share some of the pics we created?
Here's two characters of mine, both used on this board: J'aran the Half-Orc Bard. Too bad I couldn't include his lute. Aoisan the Druid. A character I'm playing in 'The Wanderers', over at the Roleplaying forum. EDIT: Changed J'aran's pic. [ 01-30-2002: Message edited by: J'aran ]</p> |

You know, you can get an Elven look too by going through the "Eyebrows" selection...a couple toward the end have the pointed ear and pointed brow look. Cool stuff mate. Thanks!!!
|
I've created several game portraits by taking bits and pieces of the original portraits in the game. I use Adobe and it takes forever, doing the shading, coloring and the like. I had four but lost them and now only have an elven fighter image. If I could figure out how to post it so everyone could see it, I would.
|
I would post mine but I dont have a site to host it on. Too bad I think he looks pretty impressive ;) .

wow Saz, awesome link, im downloading it as i type this . the curiosity gets to me every time...

I wanted to put Kama's in his hands, but all they had was these lame looking sickles. I have a full version of Flash 5 though, so I am thinking about making some of my own objects to insert. Maybe if they turn out I will submit them. And, if the owners like them, they wont sue me. :D |
Nothing seems to work to get the picture up! Grrrrrrr......

Wow, Nachtrafe, those look GREAT! Elves do come out pretty good with this system.
Oh, and BTW, I found a sort of a "cheat" to get a dwarf-looking character. You have to go into the Super Hero area, and choose the "Brick" mod. It gives a stout, powerfully built figure that you can set up as a dwarven character. It's not really a dwarf, but it will work for a pic. Cheers, |

It might sound stupid but could someone tell me how can I save the heroes I've created? I can't do it! Please help me, someone.
Thanks in advance. |

On a Windows machine, this is either by pressing the PRINT SCRN key, or ALT + PRINT SCRN. Open up MS Paint or another package, such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, and do an Edit|Paste. The full screen should appear in the window, and you can crop your picture from it. Cheers, -Sazerac |
Saz, great Job!!
Did any one notice the heads? I think they are a little small for the bodies. Anyway, that's what I think. It's cool tho..... :D |

It's also possibly to click the Save button, copy all those numbers to Word or another program, then - when you want to look at it again - click the Load button and paste. Given that I can't use Paintshop to edit the pics and am only doing this for fun anyway, this is what I did.

Listen up what I've read!
I've just bought Dragon Magazine 291 (January 2002) and it writes that heromachine is one of the best programms to make character protraits! Great job for finding this Saz! [ 01-31-2002: Message edited by: Sir Byronas ]</p> |
ROFL, Sir Byronas! And I just stumbled across it by accident, said "Whoa, COOL", and posted the link here!
Even endorsed by Dragon Mag...that's high accolades! -Saz |
