YAHOO! Thanks, Z! The new buttons are really spiffy and I love the nice graph bar for the new server donations!

Smooch Choc for me!

Agree 100%

Neb 01-29-2002 02:35 AM

Does anyone know if Ziroc ever agreed to Melusine's idea of sending him Euro by snail and that he could then exchange them for dollars when he'd been sent enough? Because that might be the only way I can donate :(

Konfuzed and Zany 01-29-2002 02:36 AM

I'm willing to do that

Scholarcs 01-29-2002 02:38 AM

Awesome sigh Z, good work, now we just need to get it rising...

I have the same question as Neb, can you change money into USD easily where you are?

Since I have never done this, I would have to say that it isn't.. But you can create a paypal account, and the would electronically convert the currency into USD.

You should try Paypal--it's real easy to use!

Melusine 01-29-2002 06:25 AM

So the Euro thing is definitely off then? If lots of us would send Euros (especially the younger kids here who have no credit cards), surely it would be easy to have them all exchanged into USD at the same time? I agree that it would be useless for people to send in all kinds of different currencies, but the Euro is a different matter I think.

Edit: I don't know how it is in America, but here, all banks exchange money. I wouldn't expect it to be much of a problem to get Euros changed into USD at your local bank.

We could all send it to you
maybe we should start a IW-band and send the money we make to Dan ;) :D

Ramon de Ramon y Ramon 01-29-2002 10:04 AM

Yeah ! Melusinchen for (Euro bank) president ! :D

(Actually, I do have an idea that might be even more useful and practical ... but I first need to doublecheck with a certain someone before I can propose it here ... )

Sir Exxon 01-29-2002 10:07 AM

Unfortunatly, I'm to young to use PayPal.
But I've sent you some cash, and I hope that atleast helped a bit.
Great work, Ziroc!

Well then...send a PM silly. ;) Or an e-mail...

(don't you just HATE it when I catch you? )

Ramon de Ramon y Ramon 01-29-2002 10:50 AM

Taken from an email from Miss DragonMage to me:

quote:
P.S. - On IW - would your suggestion be that they send ME the Euros and I
then pay Dan via PayPal? This way, I have a stock of Euros for my move and
they get to make their donation? (Or something like that?) If so, I'm
game.

She is such a clever little Georgia gal ! :D

So, my dear fellow potential European donators to the common cause, think about it if that option appears convenient and appealing to you ... if so, you can play with Miss DragonMage for she is all game ... ;)

DragonMage 01-29-2002 10:56 AM

You are absolutely rotten to the core, my sweet. ;)

And yes, everyone in Europe - to reiterate...

I am planning a BIG MOVE to Germany in the next few months and the Euros would be a help for once I get there.

So if you would like, PM me or e-mail me and I'll give you my address...you can then send your Euros to me and, periodically, I'll donate the accumulated sum to Dan via PayPal. I'll post on this forum to let you know that I've donated for you and I'll personally PM or e-mail you whenever I get your donation.

Hope this helps alleviate the problem. *hugs everybody*

*sets out the Chess board for a game* ;)

Because the majority of the Swedish electorate was against its introduction ? ;)

Nope...we haven't even voted for it
We'll probarbly get it soon though, and we'll see what I can do then ;)

Neb 01-29-2002 11:17 AM

We don't have it in Denmark either :(

But I anticipated the possibility that I might be able to send Z some Euro so I saved some during my recent trip to Austria

I didn't know that, thanks ! I had thought a referendum had already taken place and that the Swedes had followed the example set by their Scandinavian neighbours, the Danes, by rejecting the introduction of the Euro ... Apparently, a misinformation ...

Melusine 01-29-2002 11:39 AM

That would be a great solution, Brenda & Guido, good thinking!!

It would be great also because there would be no bank charges for the exchange of valuta (and DM wouldn't have to charge anything either, since she would spend the Euros in Germany so no extra cost - the only amount that would be subtracted from our donations would be DM's costs for using Paypal, right?). That way we can help DM and Ziroc at the same time!

You live to learn
And, I'm not sure when we're gonna vote about it, but I'm pretty sure the outcome will be a yes..mostly because the danes said no :D
The only down-side is that Sweden looks like a...*cough* certain MALE organ, on the coin that is ;)

That is the main reason I thought I'd try to help, dearest Elflet.

Everyone seemed to be having such difficulties worrying with exchanging currency. This way, no exchange is necessary. And I'll have much less to need to exchange once I move. So everyone wins.

As to the PayPal fee...I don't know exactly how that works (eg - what percentage they take for the transfer) or if it should be considered taken out of the donator's pocket or from the receiving party. But I am more than willing to forgo worring about any fees charged to me (they HAVE to be minimal - I use Billpoint for my eBay and it's hardly worth mentioning)...so don't worry about that, guys. Send a little extra if you want to, but don't stress over it. ;)

In the end, it all goes to serve the greater good: Emperor Choc!
(hehehe ;) )

OK....If you want to send Euros to Ziroc for the IW server, PM me here or e-mail me (or in your case as well as some others, catch me on MSN). I'll give you my mailing address and you can send the Euros to me here in the States. I'll then let you know I've received the funds and donate them via PayPal (my credit card) to Ziroc for you. I'll keep the Euros for my move.

Is that clearer?

And I may yet visit you after I move. ;) I plan to meet several people from Holland. The more, the merrier. :D

Not at all, Rikard.
Sending something to the USA is cheap, I've set Kaz straight on that once before
What *IS* expensive is sending it through a secure service ("aangetekende post") but you needn't do that, in fact it's happened before that post office workers stole from those letters because they KNEW something valuable was in it.

So what you do is simply put the money between two bits of cardboard and send it in a normal envelope (fee for postage outside Europe: fl. 1,20 -i.e about 55 Eurocents). The smallest note is 5 Euro, I should think that is manageable for most, so there will be no problems with having to send coins.
