When i finished the SoA i became so happy to see how Irenicus would fall before the migthy Slayers, and then the most happy thing is that i played ToB just after the end of SoA, the question is, how do you felted when you finished SoA and there was not the ToB?
And what do you felted when ToB got out?

soldierG 04-23-2002 07:20 AM

I have play SoA many times but i just end'it once in true.
Wend i finish'it i really stay happy because i win to iricnus but, from another point of view I want more Iricnus I start to like the guy....
I was playing ToB now but, i start to play another game "Vampire the Masquerade" once i have finish the masquerade i will finish tob.

On my first times through BG2, I didnt have ToB, so you can just imagine how I felt after defeating Irenicus.
I felt happy that I finally defeated him, but I also became a bit sad, cause I wanted to complete the saga. But then I got ToB, and everything ended up fine.

Exxon pretty much said it
Though I don't think it was a fitting end for Irenicus. I mean, the IWD-end was better, with that demon still around.

But hey, I didn't think you can kill demons otherwhere than on their homeplanes, so perhaps the same goes for Irenicus He WILL return to the Prime! I KNOW IT!

I always tought thet somehow I will had to kill the bastard again, and again, guys like irenicus just don't seem to get it, they always come to se his old friends... after all he didn't. maby he was never able to deal whit so many slayers... or... maby he likes his new home... ho nows for sur...

soldierG 04-23-2002 09:19 AM

Slayers? The Slayer is an avatar of Bhaal, not some own race.
What he faced was mere pit-fiends.

Sir Mandorallen 04-23-2002 07:18 PM

Yeah, they were some kind of demons... I think we can all agree on that! I personaly loved the ending! I thought it was cool...
However I was about half-way through SoA when Tob came out and so I got ToB and then beat SoA, and I was icthing to keep going so I went on to ToB. That game was a blast! :D :D

Nothing compares to your first time through it!! ;)

Deathcow 04-23-2002 10:53 PM

what the other guys said

and...sort of mixed emotions. at first, it was happiness for finally killing irenicus, but then i realized that it was over, and that was kind of sad. i know you can play it over and over and never have the same gaming experience, but you already know what happens.

kind of like when you finish a series of fantasy books, and you love the climactic ending, but you hate to see the end of the hero's adventures

daan 04-24-2002 09:06 AM

kobolds ... mere kobolds ...

You know im right if you've been through the BG I nashkel-mines ...
Damn buggers are everywhere

Volguuz RageWaar 04-26-2002 05:19 AM

I know that they're not Slayers but you know "Slayers", i said that because is ironic, how irenicus fall before the thing that he wanted so much, what i think that is strange is that everyone want the essence of bhaal and become the new Lord Of Murder but irenicus don't say nothing about it, or at least i don't remeber, he just want to merge the power of the tree of live with his...

I guess everyone feel very happy after killing the one that cause us so much trouble, when he first stole my soul i just wanted to find him and slain him and finally when i killed him for the last time and saw him in that sea of fire my goal was complete.

The ending was one of those "and that's it?!" kind of things for me. While I certainly was glad to have
recovered my soul, and my revenge. And that's probably because there's no TOB port for the Mac, so I have to be satisfied with just revenge, and NOT playing out the saga :(

Tell me why do you perfer the Mac, i really don't understand, nowdays it is hard to find a good game for pc so you can imagine how harder is to Mac.

Yeah, the lack of games for the Mac is a bit of a drawback, but gaming's not really the reason I bought the computer, so the lack of good games was more of an afterthought. I just prefer both the PPC hardware architecture in terms of speed, (64 bit processor, instead of 32 for Wintel), and the greater availability of good sound/video editing/graphics software. When Apple switched to a UNIX OS, it pretty much sealed my future business.

F. Gottwald 04-26-2002 06:40 PM

to me, the soa ending felt wrong, very wrong. i wanted an option to side with irenicus and aid him in his quest to restore him to his former glory. i also thought ellesime needed to be taught a lesson - stripping someone of everything they define themselves by, taking away their afterlife and then expecting them to lead a short miserable life until they finally kick the bucket without trying to restore themselves/seek vengeance is both naive and cruel...

Helspanth 04-26-2002 07:50 PM

I remember feeling elated when I killed Irenicus in the Abyss.
That was until I saw the movie clip.
Can you believe that I felt sorry for him?
He was a good adversary and a master mage and so it felt a little humiliating to ME that he ended like that!
His phrase "to end...Like THIS?" carried genuine anguish in it and Irenicus fell in the Abyss fighting.
Oh well maybe it is just me who almost always side with the bad guys of every saga!!! :D

Volguuz RageWaar 05-06-2002 07:30 AM

I guess i felted the same way when i first saw the final movie, it's like i just wanted to go to him and help him, i know he was to ambicious to point of doing what he try to did to the tree of life and that he should be punished, but like Gottwald said, by taking his very soul form him is to doom him for as long as he lived and that way is expected that he may wanted a revenge, and revenge is something very cold, his goals to the power of the tree of life were more darker than ever, so i guess that elves make mistakes too...

i thought irenicus' death was kinda anti-climactic. then, those dudes around the table (see the other post-we still haven't figured it out) kinda made me feel weird. it is a very effective "buy-the-next-game" strategy, but i think they could have made Irenicus' death a bit more graphic. his current fate just reminded me of the Lion King. oh well...
