but I passed every class I took during the fall semester of my first encounter with college...my first time back to school since the late seventies!
I was a high school drop-out, a stoner and a flunkie...not any more LOL and I passed with a 3.308 GPA! It could have been better, but i turned a term paper in late and instead of getting the B it was graded as, it got an F for being late (which means I made an A on the final hee hee!) Going out for a celebratory dinner and a movie....catch you all later! EDIT: My mistake! I had posted a lower GPA than I actually had! YIPPEE! hey, congrats Moni! I knew you could do it all along! good to hear you went back and finished too, i know a lot of people who wouldnt even make an effort.
|
Congrats Moni. You should definitely be proud of yourself. Have a good time tonight.
|
Congrats Moni! You certainly deserve some rest and a pat on the back
|
I can do that for ya (the back patting I mean ), and heaps of congratulations, Moni, graduating is much harder as an adult as it is for a kid who has spent all his life at school, so you can be very proud of yourself.
Now enjoy the celebration ... |
Congrats Moni! *hugs*
Have fun tonight! |
Well done Moni. Go and celebrate my friend you earned it.
|
yayayaya!!! you and i have both something to celebrate about! :D
|
Thank you all!
I had a great dinner and the movie (Royal Tenenbaum sp?) was, well, interesting to say the least! All, full, fat, & happy...I think I'm going to drop in over at the Wiz 8 board for a few and then turn in for the night...I only have 9 more days to enjoy my winter vacation before the spring semester starts and I need to get my sleep schedule turned back around LOL! G'Night! [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Moni ]
|
Congratulations Pricess, from the Sultan. I know what it's like going back to study. I went to University some 8 years after a damn mediocre high school performance. It's a great feeling when you challenge yourself like that and succeed. Keep up the good work darlin :D .

congradulations.
As a 3time college drop out, i know its not easy. |
Good job Moni. Congrats
and I know the felling, well kind of, I dropped out but went back 2 years later and finished, it was hard but hey, I made it |
Congrats Moni!
|
Thanks guys!
Congrats to you Jorath! Now to see if I can pull of the degree in three years or less LOL. Slackerboy, Rex dropped out twice himself...College Algebra...happens to be a thorn in my side as well since I never took anything harder than General Math in H.S. and can do math effectively "my own way" lol...without the algebra expressions...got me in trouble more than once in my Pre-Algebra class (didn't help that I had a nit-picky instructor who wouldn't accept a right answer without the "work") but I figure hey, since I am not going into rocket science, and since I have been able to keep my checkbook balanced for over twenty years without it, it shouldn't hurt me to learn what I can forget later...at least for the semester it applies LOL. |
**congrates Moni** I am so proud of you!! **pat Moni on the back** I am flunking nearly everything in sight, :D so I need to learn from you! thank you
|
Congrats Moni! Thats great! You deserve a pat on the back from everyone here!!
|
Congratulations Moni! Glad to hear that! I'm your age, so I know it must be hard to go back into the school-mode. I have been thinking of doing a few classes in my field, but keep putting it off. Good for you that you dont! Good luck! I mean that btw!

Good job Moni, we'd make a good team, I always turn my papers in time but I never get higher than a B- on my exams...
Word from the wise... The first semister is the second hardest of them all... it's only surpassed by your last one [ 01-08-2002: Message edited by: Ryanamur ]
|

The first semister is the second hardest of them all... it's only surpassed by your last one

LOL! Well no more turning in late papers for me...that was a hard lesson in humility, having to apologize to the professor after I got the paper back! Turning it in, the conversation went something like this: Me: "Here you go! See you next semester!" (puzzled look from professor) Me: "Meaning that I signed up for your Gov't 1 class next semester, not that I am looking forward to flunking this one!" (raised eyebrow on the professor as she says "O K.") I leave, all happy that I got it turned in on time, little realizing that I got it turned in on the last day it would be accepted, not the last day before points would be taken off for lateness! My ears burned all day & night after that...when I got the paper back and saw the "B" it would have made and the "F" it got for being late, I almost cried LOL...that was the first unintentional "F" on a paper in all my years of schooling! I finally crossed paths with her and apologized to her just before winter break, telling her (with a lump in my throat) how the comment I made must have seemed very insulting. Her eyes sparked with confirmation and when I explained how unaware I was that I was turning it in so late, she gave me a sympathetic smile and patted me on the shoulder, telling me not to worry about it. It was at that moment that i knew I must have passed the class with a "C" since you can't transfer D's LOL. The moment was a moment of relief for the both of us, esp considering that I'll be in her U.S. Gov't class next week. LoA, Thank you very much! Do pursue your goals if taking some courses is part of them! You won't regret it. Grand-Ranger & 250, Thank you both very much as well! All this encouragement really means a lot to me! Hugs for everyone! :D [img]graemlins/ladyhearts.gif[/img] |
Hmmm...I remember seeing a 3.30 as your overall GPA :D . Don't under-rate yourself Monique, I am so impressed with what you have done that I have no doubt that you will make the Deans List next semester.
See folks, it just goes to show that when you live with one smart cookie (like Moni) you can sometimes, if you stand close enough, and it is a chocolate chip cookie, anyway you can nibble on a few moist sweet gooey chips...of chocolate mmmm...chocolate chips...*homer simpson drool* WAIT...umm what am I saying? <Ahem> GOOD JOB MONI! ;) [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: KHaN ]
|
KHaN,
You crack me up! Just for that, I am making brownies tomorrow! (today, its after 1 a.m. here) I rechecked my transcripts buddy and you were right! 3.308! Hot Diddly Dang! |
:D Of course I'm right. I'm always right unless you tell me otherwise *wink* ;)
|
Well Done Moni!
|
Well, I'm sure you've learned your lesson on that one Moni . Good job by the way, 3.3 is great!

I hate math too. Algebra 1, 2, and Geometry, and are not *fun* classes. Especially when you have an overly cheerful teacher, or one that doesn't know what they're doing. Turning a paper in late always hits you where it hurts the most doesn't it? Congratulations Moni? 3.038? That's not bad. Not bad at all! |
Fantastic Moni, it's all worth it in the end. What you did took a lot of heart and you even managed to pass too, what else can I say but brilliant

Great achievment MonI, so WhooooooooooooHooooooooooo.
|
Congrats Moni!
Been thinking about you lately! Hugs!!!! Mark |
Thank you all SO MUCH!
I just love these "warm fuzzies" you all have given me with your support! *takes a deep breath* I go back on Monday...taking classes I REALLY don't like, i.e. Biology and Geography...hoping H.S. experiences with hillbilly teachers have not left me jaded for life LOL. I do have hope...my History prof is a wonderful lecturer and I was lucky enough to get him for my second class. Hopefully, the new instructors I meet this semester will be as good as the ones I had the last (Nit-Picky Norman excluded LOL) Wow, I got "butterflies in my stomach" thinking about going back LOL! Maybe this semester, I can pull off making the Dean's list? LOL...I'm not going to reach for any stars...just going to do what I can and do my best. :D Thanks again everyone & Skywalker...love ya man! I hope you are doing well. *BIG HUGS* [img]graemlins/ladyhearts.gif[/img] |
