What did you do while Ironworks was down, and during the Holidays?

I personally had a nice Christmas, I got the Playstation2, with Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance (Which is TOTALLY AWESOME)-- a VERY, VERY adictive console.

Also, Bethesda sent me their Morrowind Dungeon Editor for reivew--WOW guys.. you can make anything with this editor. It's got a huge learning curve, but it only takes a few days of playing with it.

Also, got sick--a Cold.. little guy was sneezing his head off! he's fine now, but he got sick a day or 2 BEFORE Christmas! Sad too, he didn't wanna play with his new presents! :D he is NOW! :D :D

And finally, Lord of the Rings... what can I say, but totally amazing. I gotta go watch it again! The Male Elf was really good---looked and acted like I visioned he would.

What else.. damn.. so much to say, and I'm half asleep!

Share! Share!!

Sorry for Ironworks being down during the Holidays. I REALLY hated that. totally sucked.

Sir Exxon 01-03-2002 09:37 AM

Neb 01-03-2002 09:41 AM

Hmmmmmm.... What did I do during the holidays....

Got some nice presents, spent some time with my family(Mainly spent trying to escape them.), got my picture up on Stealthy's, had several minor depressions, managed to escape my family early on New Year's Eve(Thank god for that.) and generally relaxed a lot.

Memnoch 01-03-2002 09:45 AM

This was my Christmas Party at work - it was a harbour cruise. Then this was Christmas day with my family - also a harbour cruise. If you look closely you can see the smoke from the bushfires in the skies over Sydney. Then this was New Years Eve at my apartment watching the fireworks.

I also watched LotR, absolutely awesome!!!

Bahamut 01-03-2002 09:50 AM

Hm... what did I do...
I got my first Drizzt book (I am a new addict) :D and a number of other books. Stayed at home, went skiing occasionally (we had SNOW ), watched the fireworks on New Year's Eve (much more than last year, I should have taken pictures), watched Harry Potter and LotR (whoever chose the actor for Elrond should be SHOT), got very confused with the new currency (the Euro is here, HELP!)... not much else.
Sorry to hear about the Almighty Lord Choc, I hope he's better :(
Hope the rest of you had a good time!

Reeka 01-03-2002 10:59 AM

Well, the best part of the break was that I have been off work for 2 weeks. Wish I could say that it has been awesome, but the truth is I have been ill off and on during the holidays. I did get to see Lord of the Rings one day and that was awesome. Was supposed to go back to work today, but on top of being sick in bed, we got snow, and everything here shuts down when it snows. That about sums it up for me.

*hugs*

DragonMage 01-03-2002 11:57 AM

Hmmm...tried to keep busy.

Played EmpireQuest, chatted much on MSN and posted on HADB forums.

For Christmas, went to my parents and then my grandparents. We didn't exchange lots of presents, but the point was to spend time together. I had a great deal of fun...the only thing that would have made my holidays better would have been if I could have been back in France with my newest 'family'...and one person in particular. ;)

EDIT: OH! And I went to see Harry Potter and LotR!

MILAMBER 01-03-2002 01:49 PM

I had a pretty good time over the holidays this year. I spent a lot of time with friends and family, went to some great Christmas parties, and one unbelievable New Years party- I'm still feeling the effects of it. I too saw Lord of the Rings and enjoyed it. I think they should have showed a little bit more at the end there, but I guess I can't have everything. I did a bit of reading, did a bit of laying around...ok I did a lot of laying around...I just in general had a very relaxing, enjoyable holiday season.

Sir Byronas 01-03-2002 02:22 PM

Well, I was studying for some tests!
At least, a couple of days ago I saw LotR (an awesome movie!!!) and Harry Potter. Also I played Empire Earth (really cool game!).

<font color="skyblue">I put in a kitchen floor.

Oh and christmas, new years and LOTR was in there too...somewhere..

Ronn_Bman 01-03-2002 05:23 PM

I saw LotR, and it was incredibly good.

Worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but still had fun with the family.

I was off New Years Eve and New Years Day, and had too much fun with friends...lol

Best of All? It started snowing yesterday! I'm from North Carolina, and snow just isn't something that happens much here. Between this snow and the blizzard of 2000 we've had more snow than in the previous 100 years. AND it's still snowing!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years

adam warlock 01-03-2002 05:38 PM

well... I had a quiet Christmas with just with my parents... to be quite frank, I hate large parties and all-family get-together...
I opened presents, had ham for dinner, straighten up house, and went to bed... I did oekaki pics at http://www.drowtales.com/oekaki132e/picture.cgi which I go all the time ever since the closedown.
no PC RP games this time.. I'm still breaking in my other ones. just got art supplies, RP FR books, a Electric hand driver/drill, and some small goodies.

had a crappy new year's though... my father had bleeding in the stomach and suffered a mini-stroke.... he's taken to the hospital
he was in ICU for a couple of days and they moved him to the floor yesterday. His one side is numb and he's feeling sorry for himself
:( they have yet to determine when to release him from the hospital. More duties fall upon mother and me ...
Frankly, I'm glad the hospital's taking care of him.

Will be going back to college on Jan 8th :(

SSJ4Sephiroth 01-03-2002 05:39 PM

what did i do? what DIDNT i do? well i guess that the answer to both would be 'a lot', but still... my memory is too messed up to detail it day by day but i can give a slight overview... lets see, i spent the entire break in Oklahoma City cause of my dad, and i didnt get a break from my relatives cept for my late nights on the computer (there were a lot of them). after spending some of the worst days of my life there (my cousins are some of the most annoying brats on the face of the Earth) i accomplished a few goals and sent a few personal items out. then when Christmas finally rolled around i sent out the first and last of the extremely personal documents after opening my gifts (if anyone wants to know what they were, ask me on MSN or AIM). i started work on a query letter, listened to Anti-flag, got a computer mic and a few games... then came back here. thats about it.

That's terrible about your dad Adam Warlock :( I hope that the hospital takes good care of him. I can't imagine how bad he must be feeling being in such a helpless scary situation, and during Christmas of all times, ack! :(

As for my Christmas, was boring really, not much worth mentioning, just glad that Ironworks is finally back!

Lavindathar 01-03-2002 06:01 PM

<font color="cyan">Adam, sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he gets better soon.

what a way to spend New year's

Cloudbringer 01-03-2002 06:14 PM

I had a pretty mellow and very nice Christmas. Visited friends in Vermont. New Year's was an at home night, played a bit of HoW/Luremaster and talked to friends on phone or email/im. Just went back to work yesterday and the heat isn't working very well. We've been shivering and trying to type.. not a good combo!

Been making good progress through HoW and the add on.. hope to make some in BG2 one of these days too! :D

Cloudy

bilqis 01-03-2002 06:51 PM

I had an amazingly pleasant Christmas... admittedly was worried about it being our first one "A.D." (after divorce ) My 14 yr old son spent 2 weeks with us, which was very nice. His brothers and I were happy to see him. Sent him back to Minnesota today tho

Several thoughtful gifts from friends. Krip & I gave each other "EverQuest" and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I'm now totally addicted and have yet another reason to stay on the computer for countless hours and not get anything done! It sure is FUN tho! :D

Great to read about all of you... sure are some varied experiences eh? ;)

mistral4543 01-03-2002 06:52 PM

Christmas: I met up with several friends, it was so fun to catch up on each other's lives and "adventures" Also did more writing than I ever did for the past 7 years , attended a Speed Dating session out of curiousity... but most of the time, I was pining for IW and building up character (the wait definitely raised my tolerance level) ;)

New Year: Here comes the embarassing part... I fell asleep before the countdown, without having made a single serious resolution. Again, pining for IW...

It is so great to be back! :D

Awesome Pic's Mem! I need to get mine up soon too!!!!! :D

Legolas 01-03-2002 08:25 PM

Let's see...
First, I was showing slight withdrawal sypmtoms
Then I got to see LOTR, where I watched Orlando Bloom put up a rather good version of myself (they asked me to star but my unnatural looks would likely frighten the audience, so I declinced) and had a really good time
Next I planned my trip to New ZealandWhich was when I discovered I didn't have enough funds for that

The days after, my sister lived up to her vow and took the PC hostage, so I ended up watching TV, painting my High-Elves and Skaven, and being bored. But that was only after I read three books of the Sword of Truth series.

We had a party of Norwegian origin, something to do with the sun returning, and then a Norwegian X-mas (which basically means you get a lot of cake, cookies and things inbetween, in addition to the gifts)

After that, I planned to call for an ambulance to see to my addiction problems, but couldn't reach the phone.

Instead, I fought back a horde of vile orc creatures assisted by dozens of goblins.

By the time the dust settled, my sister was forgetting about her vow and I managed to get into the computer room. Only to discover there was still no IW

So I played EQ instead, and haunted the HADB forum.

In between, I stopped to celebrate the arrival of the new year.

Then I was approached by a figure cloaked in black, who offered to teach me the ways of the Ni!. Only to be taught Anti-Ni instead

By then, I could barely focus my mind on what was happening, as only one thought, one chant, blew through my mind: We want Ironworks!

And so, finally, I reach the present. The haze lifts, the shaking has stopped.

Harkoliar 01-03-2002 08:36 PM

just like 4 gimmicks with my friends and like 5 parties with my friends, family and usual... pretty hectic for me... always had to go home around 2am in the morning and this has happened to me the first x-mas ever..
xmas and new year was fine..

Pangur Ban 01-04-2002 12:38 AM

Christmas:
Spend the morning with my family ( 5 people ) , and the afternoon with my wife's family ( 40 people ) Memo to self: To preserve sanity, never, NEVER, try to play Trivial Pursuit with a bunch of people "drunk" on Christmas Spirit.

New Years Eve:
Didn't go anywhere. Slept thru it. Ahhh, bliss.

Remainder of holiday:
Played lots of Wizardry 8. Played with new "toys". Attempted to make sushi. Results, while "not" aesthetically pleasing, were at least edible. Went and saw Monsters INC. Great film !! Went to a really, really bad restuarant. Went to ice skating Christmas gala at local rink, and won a walkman in the raffle ( Yeeehah !! )

Pang.

For the first time in three years, oldest son (Grau Wolf) was at home for the holidays (he'll be 19 in Feb and lives in Calif), so all the younguns were around. The result of an amazing attack of stupidity, the kids received among their presents: a drum set w/cymbals (Agility), a really good midi keyboard with every additional tempo, accessory and pre-recorded tune known to man and elf thrown in for good measure(Septfox) and a clarinet (Cloud Kitten--who surprised us and didn't squeak at all! ). Budha (hubby) topped the musical list with an acoustic guitar, and I now have a rocking chair in which to sit and try to unwind from the cacaphony! ;)

Actually I also got a digital camera and have been taking pics (which can, of course, now be e-mailed and/or posted)!

Then the worst case of hives ever set in--the end result of all the stress of the coordinating the holidays mixed with the fact that Budha's wallet (and entire paycheck which he'd just cashed) was stolen on the 21st.......

New Year's was quiet...Budha and I decided to play a little pool at the local bar. I played one game, but he was unstoppable and unbeatable for over an hour and a half! We came home just before midnight to spend the turn with the kids...then chased them off to bed ;) .

We saw Grau Wolf off at the bus station last night...I didn't cry but I wanted to :( We're making plans already for him to come back home this year.

Oh yeah, and I pestered the mods about the forum a few times! ;) I checked several times every day. If it had been any longer, I'd have been in rehabilative treatment along side Legolas!

Had a three-week flu :( LOL

Went to LOTR on the premiere day sniffling and coughing, nearly had to be carried there by my bf and a friend BUT WOULDN'T HAVE MISSED IT FOR THE WORLD...heh.

Spent a few days with my family in Germany (Kaz - the snow was wonderful!!! ) and some with my family here in Holland. New Year's Eve we decided to stay at home and watch some movies (see brotherhood of the wolf review in the books/movies forum).
Read lots and lots, did some calligraphy, met some friends I hadn't seen in a while, celebrated my father's 53rd birthday, had my hair cut, went shopping with sister.... and PINED YEARNED CRAVED for the Ironworks forums! :D :D :D

Kaz 01-06-2002 03:58 PM

Yep, the snow was great :D two white Christmases in a row! But don't be jealous we only have a white Christmas one out of ten years, so I can expect this to be the last in twenty years :(
Konfuzed ;) I got The Crystal Shard, and immediately went out and bought The Dark Elf Trilogy. It's GREAT! Now my only problem is this: The only store that sells English Forgotten Realms books has no more Drizzt novels, and all the Drizzt books from www.amazon.de have 1-2 weeks order time... I'M GONNA DIE!!

Hiram Sedai 01-07-2002 11:39 AM

Now, for a glimpse of the mediocrity that is my existence. My Christmas eve consisted of packing presents into my trusty Saturn and then loading my girlfriend into same. We went to her aunt’s house. Her aunt is the mother to my best friend’s wife. If that isn’t convoluted enough for you, also keep in mind that my girlfriend’s aunt used to be my choir director before I became carnal. I was quite the Bible thumper back in the day, but I digress. We sat around chatting about this and that before the feast of Italian people. It was quite a meal, but that is to be expected in an Italian house. I did my best as a person of testosterone influenced gender inasmuch as I ate until full, then I continued eating. The coffee did much to keep me from sliding into a coma on the nearest couch. I’m somewhat grateful that I’ve gotten my paunch from years of beer drinking.

The gift giving was an organized frenzy of platitudes and surreptitious looks to the oldest person in our county…their grandmother. She is approximately 4’5 and still shrinking in my opinion. She is 84 years and I’ve questioned her about the old country. I asked if she would farm pasta and she gives me that same wrinkled look you might give a toddler after he gives you that brown gift of fecal matter. She usually responds with “what, you mean Long Island?” Each person opens gifts separately as the rest of the clan (did I say clan? Whoops) stares at you to see your reaction. If you cringe, whimper, or start sweating, then they know that you are not Italian enough. All of the gifts that I had bought became gifts from my girlfriend for some reason although I am the one who purchased them. I was a bit flabbergasted at first, but I decided not to make a point of it. Its family and not money that matters even if it’s my money and my girlfriend’s family. I was so tempted to ask how many of them wore black shirts during the 30’s and 40’s while supporting “Il Duce”

The fawning, preening, and pretentious sentimentality came to a merciful end at approximately 1:30 AM. I loaded my girlfriend once more into Booger (my trusty green Saturn) and gratefully drove home. Before bedding down, I loaded even more presents into my car for the next morning.

Christmas day consisted of driving to my little sister’s house and having my nieces tear into the gifts like Neb would at a pudding factory. They loved them and that is all that really matters to me. I played puzzles, candyland, and vacuum cleaner with them until exhaustion. My exhaustion and their elation. My immediate family traded barbs, witticisms, and cynical aspersions as we always do. My mother reminded me about who changed my diapers when I was a bit incontinent and 1 year old. Good times.

The New Year was greeted by my brother and myself. We drank a little and he gambled to his heart’s content. All in all, I would rather stick steak knives in my eyes and sing Barry Manilow tunes while sitting in a vat of Nair than go through another holiday. I do hope your holiday was more fulfilling.
