Manchester United have been humiliated at home again, losing 1-0 to West Ham. The Red Devils couldn't find a way past the WORST defence in the Premiership! Ah, how this must hurt! :D

Jorath Calar 12-08-2001 12:07 PM

Well, by the busrts of laughter coming from my dad in the tv room, I knew something like that was happening... did they actually used to be any good???

This is the ultimate embarrassment for United fans...West Ham are one of the crappest teams in the premier league, and they've beaten the has-been Red Devils in Man U's backyard! This could be a new MasterCard ad for Hammers supporters (which I'm not btw). Apologies if the pounds don't match up!

Train from West Ham to Manchester: 5 pounds
Ticket to the game: 20 pounds
Burger and chips: 2 pounds
Seeing the look on Sir Alex's face after the game: PRICELESS!!

:D

you're enjoying this Memnoch aren't you?

Lavindathar 12-08-2001 12:21 PM

<font color="cyan">I think u are being a bit harsh on the Hammers...

My dad was at the game today, and no doubt he'll be in a bad mood for the rest of the nite when he returns...

But the hammers aren't that bad...they are just having problems....how can you be THAT bad with Di Canio (one of my all-time fave's?), also, Sinclair and Hutchinson make them a quality midfield, with the next england wonderkid Joe Cole. Also, Kanoute in attack is decent.

Their problem lies in defense, and as you stated WORST defense in the prem, not WORST team. Going fwd, they can be lethal.

But my team is now top of the league, 6 points clear.

COME ON LIVERPOOL!!!

I don't know about that...I saw their game against Aston Villa earlier this week and it was a bit of a comedy of errors. Defoe looks very promising, though.

<font color="cyan">An off game doesn't make them a BAD side, just this season their defense has been very poor!!

I forgot Defoe, he's England's Under 21 *, but he's not really impressed me that much! We shall see!</font>

Memnoch 12-08-2001 12:35 PM

Sir Alex's acquisition of Veron was a huge mistake. Why strengthen a midfield that doesn't need strengthening, and spend 28m pounds to do so? Veron's an awesome player, but getting him forced Man U to totally change their formation and nobody has been able to adjust to that. Also, getting rid of Stam and replacing him with Blanc (whose glory years are behind him) was a poor move also. The money would have been better spent on them strengthening their back four, perhaps with a quality defender from Italy's Serie A.

LOL yeah...

seriously, i am an old fan of soccer... i dunno... shifted to hockey... but then I wouldn't trade my cards which are still Man U, Ajax, Dortmund, Palmeiras, Real Madrid... etc... :D

<font color="cyan">I agree on most points, Veron is one of the best midfielders in the world, but Utd's didnt need changing at all!!

But Staam?? He must have had his reasons ( ;) ;) stam getting caught fro drugs 3months later???)</font>

no wonder...

what happened to stam? he did become the highest paid defenseman in the premier league that time... where's he now?

Bahamut 12-08-2001 12:41 PM

BTW how old is Veron? Maybe Alex Ferguson looking in the future?

Dundee Slaytern 12-08-2001 12:42 PM

I am a fan of Manchester United, and I will stay a fan of Manchester United all the way. Come high or low, I stand by my team.

Lavindathar 12-08-2001 12:46 PM

<font color="cyan">Stam moved to Lazio, and 3months later was suspended for 6months due to enhancers use.

Maybe fergie found out, and got rid.

If u look at it that way, its a great sale!!!

Veron is 26/28 ish....in his prime

Blanc is 35/36 - still great, just too slow!</font>

<font color="cyan">They tried, Thuram was their target. He went Juve instead!</font>

Bahamut 12-08-2001 12:50 PM

i think you are right Lavi, Stam must've been ejected from Man U coz of that, but who knows?

as for Vernon, i think he maybe well a replacement for... keane? but i think he is a forward not a midfielder... i hope Man U get back the chemistry before its all over!

going to bed y'all ;)

Lavindathar 12-08-2001 12:51 PM

<font color="cyan">Keane doesnt need replacing yet, I dont think its that. Keane is still the best midfielder in the country along with Viera and Gerrard.

I just think Fergie wanted to finish his last season in style!!</font>

From that perspective, it's a great sale, I guess. But from the perspective of what it's done to Man U's defence, the replacement (Blanc) obviously doesn't cut it. Their back four is the worst I've ever seen them, and their midfield defense isn't much better with this new formation they're using.

And Butterfingers Barthez...what a joke!!!!

Lavindathar 12-08-2001 12:58 PM

<font color="cyan">Barthez is still the best there is!!

The Defence -

Silvestre is amazin
P/G Neville - Neither cut it
Brown - Was going to be great...had a bad season....will he be the player we thought?
Blanc - Great player, great mind - too slow
O'Shea - Looks good for the future
Irwin - Bit too old, still good

Stam was ejected for having an argument with Sir Alex. The same way the Dwight Yorke was put on the outer. He got offside with the manager!

Keane is Man U's backbone. If not for him they would really be in the @#$% at the moment. Veron is a midfielder, but his arrival has caused a change in Man U's formation.

Donut will be laughing his head off right now, I'd imagine. :D

Lifetime 12-08-2001 01:37 PM

Barthez is a clumsy fool.. Man U has been getting a really bad string of goalkeepers since Schmichael(sp) left..
:(
Come on Man U.. they cant be THAT bad..

Memnoch 12-08-2001 01:37 PM

And to top it all off, Liverpool savaged Boro 2-0 to consolidate their position at the top of the table with 32 points. The hapless Man U are in NINTH place with 21, having played 1 game more than Liverpool.

Now if only our Champions League position was as secure... :D

Know what I hate - when you type up a post then press the BACK button instead of the POST button (sigh). Um, careful there, I am a GLORY supporter mate - the Perth Glory lead the OZ Soccer scene - undefeated thus far with 7 wins and a draw to strat the season.

And Man U - 9th place - PRICELESS :D .
