From Italy I think. They were very good in the 70's & 80's I think. What ever happened to them? are they still playing? are they still one of the top teams in Europe?
;)

Bahamut 12-05-2001 06:02 AM

yep they're italian... they have dominated the 90s too... but then i dunno... with their players aging also... and where the hell is Del Piero???

Davros 12-05-2001 07:34 AM

I think you are missing the point Bahumat - I'm betting that Arsenal triumphed at home against Juventus in the Champions league. Just checking my hot link to the Arseanl website - WOOHOO,the Gunners won 3-1, and Freddie stars again!!! Way to go - now for a win on the continent???

Sir Byronas 12-05-2001 08:26 AM

Donut, even if Arsenal won Juventus you cannot say that Arsenal is better team than Juventus. Juventus has much better history than Arsenal.

Sir Byronas - READ MY LIPS! - Arsenal are not only a better team than Juventus they are a better club. Arsenal's history goes back over 100 years. They were at their peak in the 1930's winning the league Cahampionship five times. It was only the war that stopped them winning more. At that time England was the best International team in Europe. Of course at that time there were no European Competitions otherwise Arsenal would have won the European Cup on many occasions.

We wiped the floor with them last night. 'king brilliant. :D

I think i remember Juventus, didn't a BiG london team beat them on the way to the 1980 cup winners cup final with a last minute goal from the late Paul Vassen, the first time they had been beaten at home in europe for many a term .It might not be them but it but it seems to ring a bell

Oooh, way to go Bro!

P.S. Get a sig for Bergkamp's sake!

Davros 12-05-2001 09:31 AM

OH NO - not the both of them together - what's better than a Donut - answer from Homer is "Two Donuts - don't talk, eating!!!" - great to hear from you Lanesra :D . Were you guys at the match??? Looks like I will be getting a replay tomorrow, but will have to tape it - going out ;)

Avatar 12-05-2001 09:46 AM

And it was really 4-0 as we scored all the goals :D :D
I was so pleased with the lack of ability by Juventus...
i can't wait until we kick their asses in Italy

Lanesra 12-05-2001 10:43 AM

Just as well you're going to tape it davros as Bergkamps feet moved so quick for the 3rd goal you'll need slo-mo to see it!

I waited all day for a reply from Memnoch. I guess he's busy practicing his English accent.

Strange though - he's usually so quick to comment on the Arsenal when they play! ;)

Come on Mempom - give us the benefit of your insight.

Juvintus? Never heard of the buggers. They mustn't be that good then. :D

Davros 12-06-2001 04:26 AM

As usual your sporting knowledge illuminates IronWorks. :D

Good news Davros, Arsene Wenger has finally signed his four year contract. :D

The decision on wether we can build the new stadium is made on Monday. Fingers crossed!

Bahamut 12-06-2001 09:05 AM

they got mopped by arsenal... hmm... well too bad.

like i said, i knew them before... i don't hear about them nowadays...

Memnoch 12-06-2001 09:07 AM

Arsenal are mama's boys...they can't play away from home.

Liverpool on the other hand held the defending Serie A champions Roma to a draw on their own turf! Go the Reds!

Grojlach 12-06-2001 09:15 AM

Hmm, If I were an Ajax fan, I'd probably deny the existance of Juventus as well... :D

Ronn_Bman 12-06-2001 09:18 AM

A team named after gum disease?

Oh sorry, that's gingivitis ;)

But got trounced at home! Not only that but they play sterile, boring football. BTW Arsenal have the best away record in the premiership - undefeated this year.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it Memsie!! :D

Barb 12-06-2001 10:56 AM

Yeah well, Man U beat Boavista 3-0. A clean sheet. We didn't let in any goals.

Sounds like the revival is well and truly underway! I expect the Red Devils to absolutely pulverize West Ham this weekend. The Hammers have the worst defence in the Premiership after all, I'd expect Man U to score at least 5 goals and canter to victory. :D
