OK, I need your help there. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I've had this dream for years ... since I get my diploma of Software Engineer, in fact. You see, I've played many computer games, some of them were good, very good, even excellent, but I place the Ultima series waaaay above any game ever. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

This dream o'mine is : I wanna work in Richard Garriott's company ! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Yeah, I know. Back at the Origin times, I never applied. You see, many people see us Frenchies as people that, when there is something to dare, very often see so clearly the many ways it may, will go wrong, that they don't dare give it a try. Dunno if it's true, but for that matter I'm sooo French ! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

OK then. I know the man is drowned under resumes of so many clever skilled people, who BTW live much closer to the US than I do. I know that my chances are about the size of a pin hidden in a haystack. Hence I never did anything ... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Then Origin was bought by Electronic Arts. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/uhoh2.gif Then things started to go wrong at Origin. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/uhoh2.gif Then Richard Garriott left Origin and said he had retired ... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/uhoh2.gif At this point, I thought, damn, now, I have not even a small chance this may happen ...

Now I just found on Internet that the guy has founded a new company, called "Destination Games". That he had kept low for a year, as he had to by contract. That he's very much back in the game ! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

So, what the hell, I wanna apply now. Hey, if I don't, I lose, right ? http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Now, I don't know really know from where to start. First I would like a kind US person to help me put my resume in US shape. Please ? http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

And I'll take any suggestion that might make my pin a little bigger, shinier, pinker ! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif Please ?

And if someone living near Austin in Texas would be so kind as to go have a look and maybe give me some contact, an address, anything, I would love him/her until the end of times ! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/bubbles.gif

Don't tell me I'm crazy and mad and insane, I know that ... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I'd be happy to look over your resume and give you suggestions and what not. Feel free to attach it to an e-mail or something and send it my way.

You're not crazy! Aspirations are the sanest thing in the world....

Hiram Sedai 10-19-2001 01:33 PM

Lady Moiraine, unfortunately I can only offer encouragement and my best wishes. I live in New Jersey and know nothing about where you are. I spent some time in the IT field but it was networks and pc platforms that I supported.

I hope you get your dream. I respect you for pursuing it. I also sincerely hope you get what you are striving for. Good luck!!

You GO for it, hon!

I can help with your resume. Do you want me to format/type it FOR you or you just want suggestions on what to include?

E-mail me either way, but some things to include are:

Career oriented goal
Educational background
Applicable work history

If you type it up and want me to look it over, let me know. I've never not gotten a job I've applied for and I've prepared many for friends/relatives as well.

Also, to help it 'stand out' - try printing it on parchment paper (or I can - I have some lovely 'antique gold' and I could print it and mail it for you, if you like).

Do you think it would be helpful if we also attached a declaration of love by me or at least a "100%- genuine Ramon-style" praise of her personality to her resume - both of course on your lovely 'antique gold' parchment paper ? http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Best of luck Moiraine! I do hope your dream comes true, I'd love to be working with computer games in a company owned by Richard Garriott too, but three things stand in my way:

1) I'm only 15 years old.

2) I'm in Denmark, nowhere NEAR where I'd probably be working.

3) I don't really know anything about making software or computer games.

Just an update, hon...I thought my resume was on my computer at home...it wasn't. It's here. I'll be saving it to disk and taking it home tonight (can't e-mail you from work http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif). You'll get it this evening (my time - which is same as IW time.) http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif Sorry for the delay. ((((hugs)))) glad to be of service - 'cousin'! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

P.S. My Dad told me we have a family coat of arms, but he doesn't remember what it was. I'm going to have to do some 'digging' now. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Moiraine,

I too will gladly look over your resume (e-mail fatherbronze@hotmail.com and I'll get back to you). I don't know the most recent trends, but part of that English Teacher training involved some lessons on resume writing.

Good luck.

Father Bronze
