just 1 lil question. what music do you all listen to?
I myself am a big punk\ska fan... NOFX, Guttermouth, etc. [This message has been edited by Fellhammer (edited 09-07-2001).] |
Just a tip, Fellhammer, edit your post and take out the f word, there are minors here (me for instance http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif). There is a discussion going on about swearing in posts, so...
I listen to classical music, among others Dvorak. I also enjoy Beethoven and many Russian composers (Tchaikowsky, Kabalevsky,...) I'm not really into modern music. ------------------ http://faceweb-004.facelink.com/edit...72/4711972.jpg I am the great Kazara |
thanks, man. classical is nice (some). like the iwd and bg(2) music

Wow Kaz, great taste for one so young. I love classical now but didn't when I was your age. I have always liked rock and classic rock. I fell upon a couple of bands that combine rock with classical/symphony and I fell in love with the genra. Now I love pretty much everything. Kaz, I don't know if you've heard of them, but check out Symphony X, Kamelot, Yngwie Malmsteen, and especially the Transsiberian Orchestra. All amazing groups that kinda merge the two styles into an extremely powerful almost anthem like genra. It gives me goosebumps sometimes.

R&B most definitely... i also throw in some Rap and Pop in the mix.
My Father listens to slow classical music. Those CD's should have warning labels saying "Don't operate heavy machinery while listening to this" http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no.../drooling1.gif The only time i listen to classical music is when doing my homework. Don't know why but it seems to help. |
Well, my musical tastes aren't exactly conventional for my age group. I'll listen to pretty much anything, depending on my mood.
The stuff I buy consists largely of Type O Negative (for when I am feeling dark and angry), and Joe Satriani (his music can fit any mood, but I'd be surprised if many people here had even heard of him). It also consists of a whole hotchpotch of other groups and artists. If I were to pin an overall genre to it I would have to say I seem to favour Rock. However, there is Classical music I love, Jazz I love, Blues I love, etc. If it stirs my emotions... then I'm right there! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif ------------------ http://faceweb-004.facelink.com/edit...52/2185152.jpg "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Good stuff there Sharpedge! Type o neg is extremely talented. I love the sarah mclaughlin rip off they did. I think they're best album is the october rust album. Satriani rocks, Erik Johnson rocks, SRV rocks. If you like type o neg, you also probably like fear factory, yes? Timelessness by fear factory totally reminds me of type o neg.

I have to say I prefer Type O's 'World coming down' album to 'Oct' Rust', though that's probably due more to my emotional attachment, rather then the actual content. ------------------ http://faceweb-004.facelink.com/edit...52/2185152.jpg "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Antone heard of Vanessa Mae? The album "Violin Player" was incerdible! She does Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor with a violin that is the best. Check it out!

I think there is this thread simlar to this in in the Polls Section. But I will post here too..
I mostly like Heavy Metal/Hard Rock. But none of that "nu metal" crap. I mean real metal like Iron Maiden and Yngwie Malmsteen stuff. Some of the old Country/Rock/Blues stuff is cool. ZZ Top, Kenny Wayne Shepard stuff. But I must say that Classic Metal ROCKS THE HELL OUT OF EVERYTHING ELSE. BLack Sabbath, Led Zeplin, The Doors (well they are not really metal, but still rock). Pah - wimps the lot of you!!!!
I own the original 12" vinyl (remember that http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif ) single of Motorhead amongst their other stuff and have seen them live three times. Well... just now, I am trying to learn how to play the gituarr, so heroes like Yngwie Malmsteen is high on my list now. I also like Iron Maiden and Metallica.
Though, Mozart will always be #1 to me. ------------------ We call him Bobby Corwen http://www.finalfantasy.nu/forum/minichoco.gif |

I play as well. Yngwie is phenomenal. I think the true master though is Erik Johnson. His right hand technique is amazing. Yngwie uses mostly taps, where erik is actually using a pick and finger picking at the same time!! Oh boy, where to start?
I'm very eclectic. My parents raised me to appreciate EVERYTHING. Where music is concerned, I grew up listening to The Doors, Rolling Stones (Paint it Black rocks!), Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly (if you've never heard Inna Godda Davida - get a copy and listen to it - preferably over stereo headphones! It's better than doing drugs! You get a "fuzzy" feeling without doing anything illegal or harmful - except maybe to your ears!). Also, 50's rock-&-roll and classical music are great. My three faves for classical: Wagner (very powerful stuff), Mozart and Tchaikovsky are close behind. I went through a country "stage" and my heavy metal/hard rock stage (picture a 32 year old "head banging" down the highway to Metallica, AC/DC or ZZ Top!) http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...s/coollook.gif I then fell in to rap and hip-hop (mid-to-late twenties). Now, I like ALL music. I think everyone should learn to play at least one instrument. It gives you a better perspective on any music style you listen to because it gives you an idea of the effort involved to produce the music (IMOH). I, myself, taught myself to play the piano when I was six and the guitar when I was 10. It makes you especially mindful when listening to classical. It's so refreshing to see the "younger" generation interested in more than just mindless screaming and garble (although, I myself like a little "mindless screaming and garble" now and again - God rest Cobain's tortured soul). Y'all keep up the good work now, heauh? ------------------ "Allright! We'll call it a draw." Dare to dream. Be bold enough to try. The day we stop learning is the day we start dying!(c) [This message has been edited by DragonMage (edited 09-07-2001).] [This message has been edited by DragonMage (edited 09-07-2001).] |
I was weaned on rock & roll and introduced to classical in elementary school.
I love them both, but with the rock, I do like the new music that comes out as opposed to hanging on to the oldies for dear life so that I can feel nostalgic. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif I do feel nostalgia with certain songs from the sixties and seventies, but I'll normally take alternative or classical over my oldies anyday of the week. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif ------------------ http://members.aol.com/lasttrueprincess/images/ltp4.gif You know childhood is over when a puddle seems like an obstacle instead of an opportunity.
