I didn't want to snake Rudedawg's (now freefallinghttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif) DVD thread. I had asked if anyone could name five movies the "Duke" died in? For you young wippersnappers the "Duke"(John Wayne)was the original hero he didn't need machine guns, and could whip all comers in a saloon fight. Women swound(sp?), villans fled, puppies howledhttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

OK, here are my five, dredged from memory.
I'm sure about three, but not so sure of the last two.

1. The Alamo
2. The Shootist
3. The Sands of Iwo Jima (don't remember if the title is The Battle of...)
4. The Cowboys
5. a diving movie with Red Witch in the title

I'll get the exact title for #5 after Johnny D gives me the go-ahead...

You betcha pilgrim!

Forgive me John D. but Katheryn Hepburn didn't swoon. She was down right crotchety. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

You are right though, he was and still is the Hero of all times! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/noncgi/smiles/338.gif

Hmm, well the Alamo Movie was one. Thinking real hard and can't rember if he died in any of the WWII movies (can't rember). I'm thinking the Sands of Iwo Jima, and there was one Cavalary film I think too.

That's only three I can think of.

Sheesh, fill me in please http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Don't tell my dad that I missed four of them, he'll skin me...
It took too much thinkin to get the five I did.

hhhhhmmmmmmmmm
I've never even SEEN Central Airport.
Liberty Vallance threw me, 'cause of what you said. I didn't see him die.
Wild Wind, and Fighting SeaBees, I'm kinda fuzzy on. I need to go rent them again, it's been too long.

5 out of 9, my dad's gonna be pissed.... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/noncgi/smiles/eek.gif

BTW, I just bought three black and white prints of the Duke, signed by the artist, Dan Brewer. I'll get them framed later this month, and send you a pic...

Also, I'm getting the Quiet Man, Iwo Jima, and Rio Grande in a boxed set DVD. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/hihi.gif

Gotta love the Duke.... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...sfiring_v1.gif

My favorite Katheryn Hepburn flick is Woman of the Year with Spencer Tracy.

yup, the old movie-stars are the reason I'm still single. I'm waiting to meet someone like them.

Like Debbie Reynolds in Susan Slept Here, or Dorothy Malone in The Big Sleep (she was the bookstore salesgirl), Lauren Bacall in the same...

Come on Rudedawg. They don't make'm like that anymore. Your just going to have to settle sometime. For my money Lauren Bacall had them all beat. One of her sultry seductive looks would me go all weak in the head. That's the top one. The bottom one would be rare,n to go!!!

Oh, they are, they are...

With UT here, Austin is full of beautiful girls...

I switch between craving the soft, slow Texas drawl; the sweet, sexy Georgia peach (I miss her!); and the heavily accented Latina...

So many combinations of the basic Southern girl.... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/hihi.gif and poor me in the middle...

I used to think I had a Georgia peach, turned out she had me. Lil' tiny thing, about 4'11" and 90 lbs... had me wrapped around her little finger. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no.../lovestory.gif

Bat her eyes, show some teeth, and say slowly, "I like that one." and she had it.

She got everything she wanted, and made me believe it was my idea.

And I'd go running back if I could. *sigh* http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/FRblush.gif
