Sir Taliesin 05-09-2001 02:40 PM

've noticed that lately several fellow Tennesseans are now on the board.
Tell us who you are and where in Tennessee you live. For those of you who
don't know where Tennessee is, it's a state in the southeastern part of
the US and Home to the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

I'll Start off!

Sir Taliesin from Knoville TN. Again for others that don't know much about
Tennessee, Knoxville is the major city in the eastern part of the state,
near the Great Smokey Mountains.

Make sure the rest of you reply!

Damn! I thought this was going to be a joke thread

I am glad that Tennessee is home to the University of Tennesse Volunteers, wouldn't be right if they were located in say, Georgia http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

I don't live in Tennesee as you all well know, but I have been there and been through there many times, to most all of the places you mention and I am compelled to tell you my honest opinion about the state:

It is the most beautiful state in the continental US!

Love Gatlinburg, The Smokey Mts, Ruby Falls, EVERYTHING! I can't wait until I have the opportunity to do some traveling again so that I can go back!

caleb, I would say its a reference to the "Crimson Tide" University of Alabama.

Sir Taliesin 05-09-2001 10:22 PM

Hey you all,

Great to hear from you! I believe that are one or two more here on the board that are from Tennessee. I saw your name Lady Avalon, I just wasn't sure where in Tennessee you were from. I fellow Pat Head Summit and the girls too! I get
to Nashville on occasion. The company I work for has it's headquarters
there. Love the Batman Building! Slackerboy, I've never been to Smyrna, so I can't say much about it. But I'm glad you are here! John D, my parents own land up in Cosby and they will be moving to Sevierville at the end of this month. That's a beautiful area! By the way, as to the ROLL TIDE thing, all I can say is we'll see you in in Tuscaloosa (I think thats where we're playing) and we'll be coming back happy!

LofA, sorry I'm already spoken for, but if my status changes, I'll be sure to let you know (haha)!!!

Moni, Thanks for the compliment. There are very few places that I've been that I like as well. One of them though is where Caleb is from Tacoma WA. I had the pleasure to be out there about fifteen years ago and I thought it was beautiful.
Wet, but beautiful.

Caleb "Roll Tide" refers to the Alabama Crimson Tide" and It's what they say in Alabama when they are cheering on their football team. Tennessee and Alabama
have one of the oldest and greatest revelaries (sp) in college football.

I have friends in Oregon and to miss seeing WA on the trip would be a shame.

us!!!

Its go back to the 20's and 30's when the University of Alabama football teams whipped just about everybody including the UofW Huskies.UofA rolled over their opponents like the tide rolling in, crimson and white are their colors. We give the Tenn. Vols a hard time out of respect, because like the "Bear" said you can't win the SEC with out beating the Tennessee Vols.

John D, one of my fondest memories was when we finally beat the Bear in Neyland
stadium, after Alabama had beat us something like 9 or 10 years in a row. They
don't make coaches like him anymore! Hat's of to Alabama!

Wish that I was on ol' Rocky Top,
down in the Tennessee hills;
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top;
Ain't no telephone bills;
Once I had a girl on Rocky Top;
Half bear, other half cat;
Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop,
I still dream about that;

Once two strangers climbed ol' Rocky Top,
lookin' for a moonshine still;
Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top;
Reckon they never will;
Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top;
Dirt's too rocky by far;
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top
get their corn from a jar;

I've had years of cramped-up city life
Trapped like a duck in a pen;
All I know is it's a pity life
Can't be simple again.

Rocky Top, you'll always be
home sweet home to me;
Good ol' Rocky Top;
Rocky Top, Tennessee;

Rocky Top, by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, is the offical fight song of the University of Tennessee Volunteers!!! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Thank you Sir Taliesin, I've been waiting a few years to call my brother and gloat after the big game(hanging head in shame after last seasonhttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/crying.gif). Only fair to warn you though our new coach Fancheoni(sp?) sounds like the "Bear", he has a 20-25 page rule book that the players have to know before they can play, hes a through back to the old days.(graspping at any ray of hope)

John D you all got a good coach there now. I'm kinda worried though that you'll be
on probation for the next two or three years. The press up here doesn't make it
sound very good down there.
