The ads are only on the FRONT PAGE of the site.
Hit the link at the top-left of this page, then hit his ad link.
Every bit helps...

Depends on how the ad is set up, Caleb. If it's a changing ad, you may need to hit "refresh" and let the page load in again and hopefully load another ad. Some ad sites only acknowledge unique visits, not total "hits", so if they record your IP address, they won't register it again until, say, 24 hours later.

If a new ad comes up, of course, then click away!

Moni 05-13-2001 12:19 AM

Adam and Azure,
Thank you both! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Mammaw,
We went to this great place in San Antonio called Salt Grass I think LOL...a steak house. We all had the rib-eye, melt in your mouth tender, seasioned and prepared to perfection, with the exception of Rex, who is a true blue chicken fried steak fan and must try it everywhere he goes. Fresh bread with honey-butter and great salads too! They did go a little light on the sour cream on my baked tater, but I am one who usually has baked tater with my sour cream http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif
Our dessert (cheese cake and pecan pie) was on the house for having to be moved (before we even ordered) so that a table could be set up for a large party on the patio, where we had been seated (Prom nights in SA). The desserts were just scrumptious! I will definitely add that place to my list of best places to go!

We then went to the bookstore since we had an hour to kill before the movie and I found Eric Johnson's "Ah Via Musicom" CD. I had to buy it again since I heard "Trademark" the other day and it was a soul soothing experience. I had sent the original to my brother in NC since he is a great guitar player but had never heard of E.J.
E.J BTW if any of you have seen the CD looks just like my younger brother! Rex's dad said he looks like he could be related to me lol! Wish he was! I would know where he is and what he is doing these days!

We saw a really strange but GOOD movie called "Momentos". Its about a guy with severe short term memory loss who develops a system of remembering clues to his life and to his quest of discovering and avenging his wife's murder in the form of polaroids and tattoos. If you want to see a movie that makes you really think, this one is a must!

onthepequod,
LOL I DO know that the thirties are still considered young...hanging on for dear life to the "last year of youth" that I get to enjoy! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif
Rex thought me being 39 and cracking old jokes was a riot though!
http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Thank you all for your well wishes! I love all of yas! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Moni,

I noticed you're posting a similar thread on the W&W forum. Does this mean you're giving up on us? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/crap.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

How's the pup? Obedience training on the horizon?

You're not really mad at nOObies are you? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...les/ponder.gif

Sleep well Princess! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Moni 05-15-2001 10:15 AM

onthepequod,
Not giving up on the GD forum at all, it is just that there are people there who come for help with their game and a lot of them are new and don't know sometimes that people posting answers to help them have left. (I used to be one of them lol) http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

The pup is doing great! A trip to the vet's yesterday confirmed he is worm-free and five lbs heavier in just the week we have had him. The cats have already started the obedience training LOL! One of them must have given him the what for and he doesn't chase them anymore but rather sits still while they pass by on their way in and out the kitty door. He is very smart! I am sure whatever training we give him will be easy. Right now I just want him to stop chewing on my wrists and kneecaps! He is still cutting teeth so I do understand but my patience is wearing thin. He understands what stop and no mean but he chews on me anyway. I have given him new toys galore in order to save my skin and have figured out which ones he likes. Rex's parents gave us a collar, a harness and a leash for him so yesterday he got his first "official" walk around the block. He held the leash in his mouth and tried to make me go wherever he wanted. It was cute but if he gets to be a big dog his lil trick might succeed! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Mad at nOObies? For the 100 things about men thread? I was never mad and took it all (and posted) in fun. Perhaps I should make a note there to let it be known my feelings aren't hurt and that I am not mad! I thought it was cute. hehe, good to hear that your pup is doing ok. You have to let him know who rules the house or you will be placed in the bottom of the hierachy http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif The cats, the dog and you, the food supplier http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif hehe..

Make him chase the cats now and then. This will learn the lazy cats something and he will stop chewing on your leg! Hehe...

FYI, This type of biting is often referred to as "mouthing" which in a pack is part of the dominance role setting process. Many, many, trainers consider this something to be avoided since (they believe) it has a tendancy to confuse the dog in regard to pack (your family) dominance. Easier said than done. Furthermore, the leash in mouth is also considered mouthing since (according to trainers) the dog sees the leash as an extention of you.

As far as being pulled around by him as he matures....I have two words.....Choke Chain. A choke chain (it's not as mean as it sounds is an excelent way to train a dog to heel. I have used this meathod on my 85 pound German Shepard puppy and she never pulls. We'll appreciate it more once she fills out.

IMHO "heel" is one of the best commands you can teach a dog...right behind "come," "sit," "stay," "release," "disembowel," "lobotomize," "get those damn kids," and "go do that on the neighbor's lawn." http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

If your pup is part Shepard, he'll pick things up quickly. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/noncgi/smiles/wow.gif

I hope this doesn't come across as trying to tell you how to raise your dog. Just wanted to share some things I found helpful. If your curious about resorces I found helpful, let me know. Otherwise, I am just going to but out for the time being. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif However, I do reserve the right to be a nuisance whenever it suits me. :blueblink:

Moni 05-15-2001 09:12 PM

onthepequod,
Thank you for all your advice, it is all welcome and please, never hesitate to point out what I need to do with this pup as I only trained one dog in my life and he turned out GREAT but it was so long ago I forgot the rules and methods.
He was half Cocker Spaniel half Black Lab...looked like a mini lab with cocker spaniel hair, what a cutie! I also had help with him via the Alaskan Malamut teaching him the full set of teeth showing wolf-like growl LOL...for a dog no higher than my knee, he sure could put some fright into strangers who got too close to me with that look and growl!

He heels without a leash...has done it since I got him. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
I will certainly teach him NOT to lead me with the leash, I just thought it was cute...still working on the biting/chewing thing but as long as I am not replacing my wrists and kneecaps with rope and tug toys, he seems to think it is OK still...any suggestions without me having to "go toad" on him?

Well, I am off to finish laundry and check on that shelf...I'll pop in before I hit the sack for the night I am sure.

Take Care!

It is good to know that I have a good start with this pup...he is really very smart and tonight, he showed a little more respect for me in taking me for my word when I told him don't bite! He sat in my lap and licked my leg and arm and seemed to be very content just to have my company!

Is there ANY way I could teach him to lift a leg without embarassing myself? He pees like a girl and it embarasses me LOL!
