How about driving while using a cell phone? (hands free excepted)
Completely dangerous or what? Personally I think it should be a law banning hand held cell phone users to drive. We have had too many people die out here because of them.

Oh man, Turbovee! I was going to say the same thing, but was trying to think of "worst" polls as the thread's title mentions.?

No doubt, I think using a cellphone while driving is for the most part a bad idea. I personally have been smashed into by a guy blabbing on the cellphone (he even continued to talk on it while the police were taking our information at the accident site, he literally never got off the phone the entire time. He was speaking Chinese so I have no idea what he was talking about). I have sat at lights (green) wherein people just sit there not noticing the light has changed because they are cellphoning. I have seen people pull out erratically into heavy high speed traffic not even looking because they were cellphoning. I actually do have a cellphone. But when I first got it, I did try it while driving. I found it very cumbersome, especially when dialing those tiny buttons. Never used it in the car again.

All I know, is I remember a good 15 years ago they had cellphones that were speaker phones (no hands) in vehicles. What the heck ever happened to that? With technology the way it is, I see no reason why cellphones haven't been turned "speaker" in cars. It would obviously be much safer. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Hey Turbovee, do they ever show those commercials down your way wherein the drivers are not looking while they are driving (car insurance commercial)? They got one wherein this hippy longhair guy drops his ciggarette on the passenger floor and bends down in traffic for quite a few seconds searching for it. Another one depicts a woman putting on her makeup in the visor mirror going about 70 miles an hour in heavy traffic steering with her knees. Then another one is a close up of a businessman talking on his cellphone and typing on his laptop on his lap, cradling the cellphone on his neck and shoulders. Eventually the camera pans out and you see that he is driving while doing all this. Funny, yet unfortunately realistic.

Those and the Lexus commercials were the old lady is completely occupied kissing her poodle and when it pans out she's driving down the freeway in heavy traffic and it says "they're out there" "Lexus Safety" I've actually seen this! it's scary!

YEAH! That's the one! There are a few versions of those commercials as I mentioned. Now I remember that poodle one too! No doubt "They're out there"! Unfortunately I already know this as I live in one of the worst traffic areas in the U.S. Brainless wonders abound! You find yourself getting very good at using peripheral vision.!

Turbovee, good point about the cell phones, but did you know that they extensively examined this topic, and the actual danger lies not so much in the fact that you have only one hand on the steering wheel, but in the fact that your attention on the road is distracted. So even if you use a car kit, you have a much greater risk to cause accidents. So people who claim that their using the phone while driving is save because they use a car kit is rubbish, it is actually just as dangerous.
