ok, i`ve spoken with three roleplayers on this subject. all of them said torment was better. i don`t know which i like more so far.which one do you people like more? one of my friends also said that the spell animations are much cooler in torment.. what do you think?
P.S.- please don`t mention any spoilers about torment because i just got that game. |
Planescape torment had better graphics in my opinion, but the main character being immortal made it too easy eventually, seeming that you can try again and again and again and again.

BG2 is still in shops. Planescape generaly isnt. Draw your own conclusions.

Torment Beat Any Baldur's Gate game.

I actually prefered Torment. It was a lot more in depth and a lot of time had be spent developing the characters, where as BG2 there isn't much character interaction, true you get characters NPC's suddenly talking to each other and the romances are a nice touch but the interaction still pales in comparrison to Torment.
Its a shame that Planescape didn't really take off as it is such a good game. There was even talk of an expansion pack coming out for it, but sadly it never did :( Oh well no use crying over spilt milk. |

PST: Your main character dies and then he comes back BG: Your main character Dies and you reload the game. |
In torment, they told you everytime you died, it created another of those shadows, so everytime I got killed for a reason other than storyline, then I reloaded my game. I was more scared of dying on PS:T than in BG2.

Two very different games, IMO. As a roleplayer, though, I'd probably opt for PS:T. It really *is* a totally different game depending upon whether you configure your character for melee, or for magic. And the depth of your party members is pretty intense. For what it's worth, the BG2 development team told me a year ago that they actually added a lot of depth to their party NPCs after seeing what BIS did with PS:T.

I am sure the idea of romance came from PS:T. You get some romance like talk with Annah and Fall-From-Grace. The first time I played the game I even thought what I said to them would make a difference.

Definetly BG2.
I started playing P:T for about five days ago, and my conclusion so far, is that BG2 has a better story, better graphics, better items, better quests and sub-quests etc. But then BG2 IS supreme to all other RPGs, IMO. But dont get me wrong, P:T is also a good RPG, one of the best, but has a long way before it can match BG2. ;) see ya! |
Torment, because of the reasons already mentioned.

I think BG2 is more like my kind of games, with the more hack 'n slash method, which I prefer, not P:T, where you have to use you head more... see ya! |
Well... if you are more into hack and slash, then I guess you could maybe like BG2 more, althought it is hard for me to imagine.
|
to be brief....if BG 2 had the graphics and awesomely in-depth intricate dialogue and interaction possibilities that Planescape does, it be an even more amazing game than it is now. as it stands though, it's BG 2 that has the paramount lasting appeal and it's a BETTER GAME altogether.

Still, I *do* like BG2 quite a bit; but it pales before the challenges and interest of PS:T. |
